What happened on the boards last night?

I was surprised at some of the words that they could use on the boards. I knew immediately what was going on (thanks to Dan's Troll information). I reported it as quickly as I could. The Mods must have been bombarded with complaints. They took care of it right away. Thanks Mods.

I noticed that there were many posts with similar titles with different screen names, must have been alternating names to get past flood control. Also there are programs that will just keep hitting a site over and over until something goes through.

I saw it almost right away, reported to moderators, and a minute later the boards were down. Was it all the boards or just the CB?

That explains the minimum time between posts going back up to 60 seconds. I was happy with 49 seconds..... Oh well.

Who was it anyway? Does anyone have any info on who or why?

We are an open internet board. Security is something we worry about a lot. I'm not getting into technical details about how they might have done what they did for what I hope are obvious reasons!
What happend last nite is that I was at CVS pharmacy... we have systems in place where moderators can report an emergency and my pager started going off. While I was driving home Kathytx wisely shut the boards down. I got home, cleaned up the junk and we opened them back up.....
Some of the other moderators were already banning and deleting but the WM's can do it in "mass"

I saw it just as it started to happen. First some odd threads from several different names, then some dirty ones. There were about 5 different thread all with odd spelling to the titles. My first thought was Oh look, we've acquired a troll.....I opened one up to see if I was reading it right and it had some dirty innuendo....

When I clicked back there were half a page of posts from one single person, sprinkled with the other posts by different names.... I had been in chat and went back over there to see if there were any mods, but they had just heard and were scrambling already.

When I clicked back over the entire first page was the same post over and over by the same person. I didnt open anything so missed the pix but when I hit refresh they boards were down...

Greta job by the mods!
