I have some black pants that are fading too and I've been thinking about dying them instead of replacing them. Can you use the rit dye in an HE washer?

Not sure, we still have our old fashion machine!! I used a pot to dye the pants, not my machine. Good luck.

I found a pair of shoes on clearance at Sears.com. After shipping, they were only $15, which is a great price for a classy pair of pumps.

Our digital camera is dying, just in time for vacation. I did my budget thing and looked online for deals. Found a camera with excellent reviews at a budget price online, and with overnight shipping it is only $80.

DH just sold a huge speaker he had on consignment, so that money covers the cost of the camera, PLUS the $80 that we are paying our pet-sitter while we go to Vegas this weekend (not a budget trip, LOL).

And yesterday, I only left the house to go to a meeting. Saved gas!

(However, today I must pick up some last minute pre-vacation items.)

Yesterday when I was at the grocery store, I asked at the Deli if they had any "ham ends." I got almost a pound of assorted Deli ham for $1.35. Today, I am going to dice it up, freeze some of it and I will use it for omelets, baked potatoes and quiche over the next few weeks.

My neighbor left their stainless steel sink and garbage disposal out for the trash man. Since I had some cans to take the the scrap yard anyway, I grabbed it. It was worth $10!

Also made an appointment to take some clothes to the consignment store.

Another way we saved some cash this weekend...was DIY home repairs. The spring on one of our garage doors broke. Instead of calling the repair man that would have cost us $200 or more, we went to our large home improvement store and bought a new spring and wire. This only cost us around $17. My husband, who is pretty handy, was able to fix the door in under 45 minutes. I wouldn't try this unless you like to fix things around the house. It did take some strength to pull the wire tight in order for the door to properly work. You can look at the other side of the garage door to see how to attach the wire and spring.

Just a warning...You definitely don't want to change your garage door springs unless you know what you are doing(or are very handy). There is so much pressure behind the springs that if it gets away from you it could kill you.

That's great!! I wish we had more of a selection of grocery stores!! I also wish we got coupons in our Sunday paper. We get zip, zero, nada! Ok, finished complaining!

This morning after work I really wanted to go to Starbucks or McDonalds for oatmeal for breakfast. I came home instead, had toast, went to la la land. Going back to work in a few, and we are having our potluck. I used to buy something pre made, almost every time. The past three potlucks I have cooked, instead!! Cheaper and tastes better!

You can google coupons and there are lots of sites that give you free coupons for groceries and cleaning products etc.

As far as doing something frugal: I stayed home today!

We had some big rains here last night and had to clean up a little water in our basement, nothing huge just in the utility room thankfully. So I did not get to grocery shop today as planned. Instead I grabbed dinner out of the freezer.

I had a phone interview, so while it technically wasn't frugal...I'm hoping it will still work out.

Otherwise, I did argue a medial bill for my son's MRI. Saved us $1414 by questioning the coverage (they thought it was out of network...it wasn't). I also did 2 loads of laundry and hung them up to dry instead of using the dryer.

Shoprite is having a bonus coupon kind of sale you buy X number of certain products and you get $12 off for a future sale. Different combos- that you can stack if you do the different ones. So today- did buy 8 dunkin hines things- brownie mix ect- 4 grands biscuits, 3 activa parfaits all for $18 and somehow got $24 in coupons! Plus another dollar off. And 2 coupons for 2 free bags.

I did this as an add on to the main weekly shopping. Which I kept to $100 thanks to coupons!

i used to do that in high school with my friend b/c we both wore a ton of black. i did use the washer and dont remember it majorly staining it. i did red once years later (it was a batch of white tees for a dance thing) and it did leave a reddish residue. it eventually wore out but believe it or not the black left less dye than the red.

I do that, and for the first time, bought some coupons from a clipping service (which is where our coupons go, I think).....

BUT, below is the kind of thing we are sorely lacking, due to a lack of competition/selection of grocery stores.

Oh yes, forgot. My daughter/son in law, wanted to go out to eat. I told them, hold on for a bit and we'll have breakfast for dinner!! Eggs, pancakes and bacon. All in the house already. Since we are not usually big breakfast eaters, this wont make the rest of the week a hardship!

I listed our old stove and DS's loft bed on craigslist and sold them this weekend.

I had never done anything like this before.....it was so easy.

I think I will be cleaning out the attic before it gets hot.

Didn't realize it could be so dangerous. Definitely use caution if doing this at home. Might even want to use a helmet and/or goggles. Keep other people/children/pets/vehicles away while working. My husband worked on it while the garage door was open and the springs were not "stretched"...that is the safest way. Once you get it fixed, you may want to test it multiple times by using your gargage door opener and walking far enough away from the garage for safety.

My car was at the dealer yesterday for a recall. While they were working on it they called to tell me it needed a battery and did i want the 30k mile service. I declined both, but since this was the second place telling me i needed a battery (its always started fine though) I hopped online and found one for $50 less at advanced auto parts. They also put them in for free and then I found a 20% off coupon if i bought it online before i went to the store. So about $75 saved over the dealership and no worries about driving around with a baby and a weak battery

I resisted buying a really cute tee-shirt on one of those 'different shirt every day' websites and saved $25 by not making an impulse purchase.

I've also sold another $25 in stuff on Amazon Marketplace in the last few days so that's more money into the Disney fund!

When I drive my son to school, I take the exit before the $1 toll. It's only another 5-10 minutes out of my way to go around it.

I bought $425 worth of gift cards for gas/groceries/movie theater/kohls/our new tent and earned $17 towards DS' tuition. That's roughly double what we would have earned through our CC rewards.

Today I'm going to list two things on Ebay that will sell for probably $15.
