Well, sloppy sweats sure wouldn't vibe "elite"; you're right about that. Just what attire is proletariat enough? Is looking neat and decently put together too pretentious? And is it the prep school itself or the perception you object to? My kid went to a private school without uniforms - OK or not OK?
