What ever happened to seeing Mickey Mouse waving goodbye to guests at night?

For those that visited the Magic Kingdom in Walt Disney World alot in the past. Who else remember leaving the park at night after Wishes and seeing Mickey Mouse waving goodbye to guests leaving the park at night? I remember first seeing this in 2004 for my first trip. I thought I was hearing things, but I later heard my mom say "Quick turn around!" and I saw Mickey Mouse waving and saying a few final messages to local visitors and tourists that visited the park. As a result, that finally turned the water works on for me and made me realized this is my final day. I was bummed out when I left the Magic Kingdom in 2006 which was my second trip. I didn't see Mickey waving at guests that year. So am I the only person who remembers seeing this happen at the Magic Kingdom? Because I remember this being very common in the early 2000's but I can barely find any videos of that. The last time I seen any Disney park do this was at Disneyland Paris in 2008.

Here's a video from closing hours at Disneyland Paris

I wonder if Walt Disney World still does that? Especially since Mickey Mouse began talking with guests starting in 2010, this would make a perfect opportunity for this to become a thing again. It's one of those special moments that sticks with you forever.

Sorry I've been over 60 times since 1987 and I never saw Mickey waving good bye on any visit, I'm not saying you didn't see this. I would think it would cause to much congestion for those trying to exit. It would be a terrible bottleneck that Disney wouldn't want to deal with.:)

Mickey did used to wave goodbye to guests from the RR station (south-facing side, where they offer the morning Welcome show.)

I'm still looking for more footage, but here is a clip from the
Rock Your Disney Side 24 Hour Event. (Decidedly, a special occasion.)

On a similar note, I always thought it was a nice touch when at closing after illuminations, the cast members lined up around the fountain at EPCOT and waved goodbye with mickey hands. It is kind of sporadic now.

Don't remember the year but we definitely saw Mickey waving goodbye at the train station as we were walking out.

Isn't Mickey still meeting in his spot as the park is closing? He "can't be in two spots at once," so I wouldn't think you'd see Mickey anywhere else at MK as you are leaving for the night.

We saw him waving goodbye more than once during our 2006 trip. We thought it was a million dreams thing because we didn't see it before or since.
