What evening entertainment is cancelled due to rain?

I remember a CM telling me Illuminations is never cancelled, even in thunderstorms. What about the other 3 parks? I assume parades are cancelled. What about fireworks at MK and HS, and Fantasmic?

All of them have the risk of being cancelled for weather, if I recall. Also, if it is too windy, Mickey won't be at the top of the mountain at the end of fantasmic. Not really a big deal for me, but it can be a make or break for more pickier guests.

Define "rain".

If the rain is part of a hurricane, then the parks can close.

I think the fireworks are special, in that once they set them, they are reluctant to cancel. They may delay them. They may cancel the parade(s). I've been in MK when rumors circulated. I also think, where MK is concerned, sometimes they run Wishes without Tink flying. I think that happened at least once when we were there.

Lightning DOES close down many things: shuttle boats, outdoor coasters, animal attractions, etc.

We went to HS once when they talked of cancelling Fantasmic. They held it, but it was in torrential rain. Suffice it to say, that's why I'm not a big fan of Fantasmic. In addition to the rain, the water from the show blew right at us! The palm trees were blowing completely sideways! The next morning, the news reported water spouts (out on the coast). It was a bad storm.

I've been on many rides during plain rain though. During an absolute downpour we once rode Kali. We figured, why not?

It can be canceled,but it has to be REALLY bad-I watched in a tremendous Lightning Storm once-it was awesome-the lightning and thunder almost felt like part of the show!

We watched wishes in pouring rain!!! A CM told us that he has even seen them go off in a hurricane....

Even if the fireworks go off they will be hard to see with so much cloud cover it was not even close to the same experience and of course tink did not fly.

Well that's frustrating. I REALLY wanted to watch the DL fireworks this past March, but they were cancelled the only evening we had available. I'm sure it's because the parks there are so close to the highways and non-Disney businesses, but it wasn't raining at all and there was no notable wind at ground level.

The only time we've come close to having an evening show cancelled on us was fantasmic in May 2015. There was a nearby lightning storm, and they said several times that the show could be cancelled at any time (luckily it went on).

We have waited and sat down for Fantasmic where they have delayed and eventually cancelled it, this was May of 2015. Tons of lightning.

They will cancel things for the safety of the actors so if there is a lot of lighting and heavy rain then any thing can be canceled and central Fl is lighting capital of the world But Disney tries to run things

We were at Disney during what we now refer to as "monsoon week" in May 2009. It was pouring rain pretty much every night that week except for Friday. We were staying at Pop Century that year and could see the fireworks from Illuminations & Fantasmic going off every night. There was no way I was standing in a torrential downpour to watch fireworks so we only went to Illuminations on the one night it wasn't raining. As far as I know, Wishes also happened every night that week.

In June 2011, it was raining so hard (no lightning) that after 2 delays, they did end up cancelling the Main Street Electrical Parade that night and Tinkerbell didn't fly, but Wishes did go off on time (in the rain). And last summer we were at DHS on a rainy/stormy night -- the Frozen fireworks and Fantasmic were both delayed until the rain stopped. We got about 10 minutes into Fantasmic when it started pouring again - no thunder or lightning, but heavy rain. We decided we didn't need to sit there in that mess (we have seen Fantasmic several times) so we got up and left. By the time we got down the ramp out of the theater, they announced that they were cancelling the rest of Fantasmic for the safety of the performers. We kept walking very briskly and made it to the bus stop ahead of the crowd. In fact, there were only 12 people on our bus. Our driver basically closed the doors and pulled away from the stop as soon as we were on the bus. While there was no one else at the stop at that time, I'm sure there were plenty of people in the huge mob pouring out into the bus loading area who would have gotten on our bus.

We've done the Illuminations Fireworks cruise a few times and our captain has always said that while Illuminations will still happen if it's just raining, if there is lightning close by it will get delayed and even cancelled (not just the cruise, the actual fireworks). They said it doesn't happen often, but it does happen.

Fantasmic was delayed then cancelled on our August 2015 trip due to lightning. They will cancel it just like shutting down outdoor rides if lightning activity is within a certain radius of the particular park.

This is why a "hopper" leaves you stress free. Just go back another day. They also cancel SOA if the storm is really bad.

Back in March, we went to MK and about 5 minutes before Celebrate the Magic was scheduled to begin, it's absolutely poured. Not individual raindrops falling but full walls of water like it was being dumped from buckets. Celebrate the Magic was cancelled and Wishes was delayed by 15 minutes (I guess they were tracking the radar pretty closely). We waited it out (huddled under the awning at Casey's Corner) and it all cleared up just before the fireworks started. Best viewing of Wishes ever. We were right next to one of the fountains in the hub and the closest people were probably 50 feet from us.

We watched the previous version of the Star Wars fireworks during a torrential downpour. Between the smoke and the rain, we probably saw about half of the fireworks. Left thinking "Hmmm... that was probably an awesome show!"
