Old and new - Godfather movies and oranges

So we have been really enjoying MasterChef Australia: Dessert Master and in one of the episodes everyone was tasked with a movie reference, fantastic light fun to watch BTW.

OK, so Chef Andy Bowden did a blood orange confection for The Godfather series explaining a symbolism of oranges was significant and while we are big fans and have been watching for ages we knew nothing of the oranges being important other than the famous scene in the tomato garden when Don Vito collapses playing with his grandson.

So today while it is snowing and freezing out we are going to binge The Godfather series looking for oranges, thanks Chef Andy Bowden for sharing I enjoy a lighthearted quest when I can find one.

I am watching and there are a lot of oranges.
I'm tying to decide if the color is also a foreshadow. So far when they get Lucca the room he walked into was lit up orange and when Michael gets the Turk and McClusky the storefront neon signage is orange and red, and in most of the scenes Michael is backlit by the orange neon.

Just watched the scene in the house when Vito comes home from the hospital and when Connie asks her husband what is the matter and he tells her to shut up Connie is eating an orange and when Fredo sits down to visit with his dad there is a basket of oranges and apples in cellophane.

How did I miss this for so long? Although, I didn't notice the red in Sixth Sense until someone told me about it.

It is outstanding, I am watching the one with Amaury Guichon and it just popped up as suggested on Prime I think it is season 1 of the spinoff. I am enjoying the dessert shows lately, the confections are so pretty
