The parades!

I love parades, but they seem to bring out the worst in people. I also hate to spend the hour or so that you have to use to stake out a decent space to watch a parade.

I agree, they sometimes do, but being from New Orleans, I'm used to it.;)

My GF and I are lucky enough to have a 10 day vacation this May and are going to actively seek out and do the attractions we normally skip. We'll be seeing the Hall of Presidents, Tiki Birds, Tomorrowland Speedway (should be fun considering I'm 6'4") and most of the others that have been mentioned. I don't expect to spend much time in Innoventions (went last time but there isn't much interesting stuff there, in my opinion), but everything else will be a must do. By the way, am I the only one here who likes Sounds Dangerous? ::yes:: :p

MK:
It's a Small World -- We rode it once on our first trip and made a family pact none of us would ever mention going on it again.

Swiss Family Treehouse

Tiki Birds

Epcot:
Sorry, but most of World Showcase. Not up our family's alley.

Innoventions

Universe of Energy

MGM:
Haven't ever tried Sounds Dangerous

AK:
It's Tough to be a Bug (DD won't go near Honey after trip #1 and she is terrified of bugs)

Conservation Station

Kali River Rapids, never gone but planning to make it the last ride of the day next time. We go in December, so it's not quite as appealing to walk around wet.

Never Again:

Space Mountain: LOVE BTMR, but hate SM - too "jerky" for me

Swiss Family Treehouse: Been there, done that

Dumbo: Rode it once with a little friend, but not something I'll ride unless with little ones.

Teacups: I pay good money to eat that food at DW, don't want to lose it riding a teacup!

Carousel: Very pretty to look at, but boring unless with kids

Raceway: See Dumbo above

Tom Sawyer's Island: I usually hit it every other trip

Alien Encounter: I'm such a wimp - no thank you!

Tower of Terror: see above x 2 !

Never MISS:

Hall of Presidents - OMG, I can't believe people skip this. I HAVE to watch this AT LEAST twice a day when I'm there. I ADORE this (and I'm not kidding) but I'm a sucker for anything history/patriotic. Also, it's a great way to cool down and rest before heading home.

Spaceship Earth: It's just not a trip to EPCOT without seeing this. This is by far my most fav ride at EPCOT - can never get enough of this one.

Pirates: See above except insert "Magic Kingdom" where you see EPCOT

Haunted Mansion: This is classic Disney - LOVE this one.

It's a Small World: Hey what's one person's evil dolls, is another person's classic Disney ride!!! It's old, slow and WAY to cheerful I know, but it's also tradition and sweet.

:-)
Thumper (aka Sue)

MK-Never been to Tom Sawyer's Island--maybe this trip! Also never been on the Carousel, the speedway and rocket ride I've skipped, but hte kids have tried them.
We usually only do Tree House, steamboat, Magic Carpets, one time per year, so not every trip.
MGM We have tried everything, but will not do Sounds Dangerous, and Playhouse Disney (my kids are too old to get them to agree to it again!) again.
AK I'm not sure I've covered everything here, but inteh summer it gets so hot I can only take the park in segments of a few hours at a time. If it is a time I don't want to get wet we skip Kali, but now I always skip the Bird show and tarzan (just too loud and long for us!). triceritops is a once per year kind of thing too, but as the kids get older I think it may be a skip as well.
EPCOT we tend to skip the movies, and usually skip most of the pavilion with Body Wars in it--not much there that isn't wwwaaayyy outdated.
Some of the restaurants will be a skip until they have been refurbished--Chef Mickey's was a disaster around Easter time last year--way too worn for me--once it has been redone I will be happy to go again. Planet Hollywood just too pricey for bad service and snobby waitstaff. There were a few more, but I can't remember them!

Magic Kingdom:
- Space Mountain - makes me sick, DH didn’t really like it either
- Thunder Mountain - makes me sick
- Astro Orbitor - doesn’t interest me
- Indy Speedway - can’t stand the fumes
- Swiss Family Treehouse - takes too long and isn’t that interesting

EPCOT:
- Test Track - doesn’t even interest me
- Body Wars - terrible motion sickness

Disney MGM Studios
- Tower of Terror - doesn’t interest me
- Rock n Roller Coaster - doesn’t interest me

Animal Kingdom
- Dinosaur - makes me sick

MK:
~Hall of Prez: Never do unless we need a place to cool off. Been there, done that. Had enough of the "real" mechanical prez.
~Tom Sawyer's Island: Haven't done it in years but hope to with the grands this summer. Think they'll love running around and the ride over.
~"old" Alien Encounter: Ick but looking forward to Stitch's version

EPCOT:
~Body Wars: Way too bumpy

MGM:
~Star Tours: See above
~Indiana Jones: Wish they'd do something new.

AK:
~Tarzan - he's cute but it's always so darned hot in there when I've been. I also think they stuff you in like sardines.

But on the MUST DO list:

My grandchildren thank all of you who don't do the Indy Speedway. It's their favorite thing - the lines are awful but they don't care.

Okay..sooooooo .... almost every post here says they Skip DUMBO.. so.. who are all those people on the line ALL the time!! :hyper: Just a funny observation!!!

Kathy

Wow! maybe the Disney execs should take a look at our informal survey here and redo some outdated and unused attractions, although I am sure those little counters at each entrance to the rides gives them an idea how popular a ride is.

Those people in line are people like me who at 28 years of age had there first trip to WDW and HAD to do Dumbo as it is so Disney and of course the teacups.

Although i didn't do dumbo on the first time at MK. I was kicking myself that i hadn't ridden dubmo and would be going back with out riding it, well it turned out we had an hour left to spare after MGM so headed back to MK and I seperated from Hubby and friends and went and rode dumbo by myself at night and Loved it. Nothing like flying around the castle at night. :)

WEll we skip a lot of things because we have a very uptight three year old, so I won't go into those.

The one thing we ALWAYS skip are the parades. All these posts about people saving spots for forever!!! Bleah. To me, that is such a waste of time. I would rather just wander around soaking up the magic and not even going on rides than to sit on the curb for an hour worrying about people getting in front of me or crowding my kids. (That's my personality--it would get to me.)

We skip the parades too. I just don't get it, especially all of the sitting around waiting. You can barely get me to sit down for 5 minutes at Disney. :hyper:

We always try to do everything we can, but there are a few things in each park that we don't mind if we miss -

MK: Dumbo and Aladdin, they go roundy roundy, big deal. I like the view from Astro Orbiter though. Also the Speedway, Tom Sawyer's Island, and I don't like the new Tiki Room.

Epcot: I love Epcot, but without the ride the Living Seas is skippable for me. Also, the new Journey Into Imagination is probably the biggest disappointment I've ever had at WDW and I wouldn't think twice about skipping it again. Don't like Body Wars.

Studios: I haven't been in a while... but Playhouse Disney (too young) and ToT (dropping=yuck) don't appeal to anyone I travel with. I'd like to get up the guts to ride RnR though. Star Tours didn't do anything for me.

AK: The petting zoo thing, and Kali River Rapids. Really I'm not unhappy if we skip it totally, although it's pretty to walk around in for a while.

Me too!! Although I skip them because I hate parades lol. Waste of time having to find a spot early, and even if you do people manage to get in the way of your view. I think they're boring, crowded, and I'd rather be getting on rides that have shorts lines because everybody else is watching the parade!

Other things I skip:

MK:
Tiki Room, Hall of Presidents (big yawn)
Aladdin and Dumbo and Teacups (don't like spinning)
Indy Speedway (line is always too long)

MGM:
Millionaire

Epcot:
WS films

Up until our last trip in December, we always headed for the superheadliner rides. Skipped the little stuff! This time around we saw alot more little stuff and I'm really glad we did!

Missed....

Hall of Presidents (next time)

Tarzan Rocks (don't know why we've never done it)

Kali River Rapids (last few times we've been....it's been cold and wet so we've skipped it)

Sounds Dangerous (I don't even know what that is....)

Parades (for precisely the reasons stated). This time we did sit and wait....and the parade was awesome at MVMCP so we'll do that again!
