What do you wear when it is high 70's/80 during the day and high 50's/60 at night?

We'll be there next week and I'm pretty much packing everything we would need for hot or cold weather.

We are coming from Ohio so it is definitely going to feel warm to us no matter what but I keep going back to - if it is 80 will I wear shorts and then just take a sweatshirt for night? Is a sweatshirt and shorts not warm enough especially if it were to rain?? Then I think I could just wear capri's but I also hate to be too hot and will I feel that way if it is 80 and sunny?

I think I'm just over-analyzing too much! LOL

Layers, layer s ,layers...I am going down on the 12th and I wear capris ,with a tshirt during the day and a sweatshirt early in the am and at night. If it is real cold at night, I end up back in the room to get the winter jacket and put on jeans.

I'm from MN so I'm right there with ya...if it were me, I'd start the day out in capris with a tank top and a hoodie and flip flops if it were 50/60s...I'm a cold baby though so I could easily wear jeans if it's low 80s for part of the day and a tank top with a hoodie. We're going in January so I plan on starting the days out with jeans, tanks, hoodies and socks and shoes...bring a bag for the stroller with flip flops so I can toss the hoodie in there and socks and shoes and catch some rays during the warm hours and then dress back up when it cools off in the evening so I don't have to go back to the resort if I can help it...we're taking winter coats though and a light jacket just in case...basically, dress in layers if you don't want to run back to your room a lot...we'll have a stroller to stash stuff in so it'll be a little easier for us. Sometimes just going from socks and shoes to flippers can make a huge difference in cooling off...have a tank on under a sweatshirt and you're set for 80s...

I'm leaving Saturday and have everything ready - shorts, capris, jeans, sweatshirts, t-shirts. If it's 70's and sunny during the day, it will be warm. But as soon as it gets dark it really cools off, same if it rains. I've gone this time of year many times, it can change really fast.

We were there last week when the weather went from 80s the first part of the week to 60s the last part of the week. I was surprised how cold daytime 60s and evening 40s-50s could feel. You could really feel the difference once the sun went down. Saturday night we were watching Illuminations with the temperature in the low 50s and I'm not sure I could've had on too much cold-weather gear, and I'm someone who's "warm-natured." If we ever go back in late fall-winter, we're going to take more cold-weather layers--long undies, fleece, head gear, etc. Better to be overprepared than underprepared.

On a day like that, we wear jeans all day, but if it's going to get really warm later, we put shorts in the car and go out to the parking lot to change when necessary. We wear turtlenecks with a t-shirt over it so that we can easily shed the turtleneck when we start getting warm and they don't weigh a lot. When we are to the point we need to shed the jeans, we change at the car and drop the turtlenecks off at the same point. If we stay until evening, we do it all in reverse once it begins cooling off.

I'm from PA and love this sort of weather which is why we usually visit during the winter months. If you're like us the weather will feel pretty warm to you. We bring all weights of clothing with us.

If its humid we stick with mid calf length shorts/capri's with short sleeved tops and thick sweatshirts for the early morning and after the sun goes down. We usually just tie them around the waist during the heat of the day but If they get annoying these can be stored in lockers and I keep gloves and hats in my backpack. If the air is dryer we go with the jeans we wore down, but this almost never happens, the jeans are usually too heavy during the humid heat of the day for my North east tolerance. I think southerners tolerate the heat + humidity way better than those of us from the Northeast because we only get humidity in August but still it's all about personal preference. This year I think each member of my family will have a backpack for storing nighttime cold gear.

I think many people underestimate the night time cold, the first time we made this mistake and ended up with $200 worth of sweatshirts..

bdiddy....we are going next week too...and from Ohio! Maybe we are on the same plane! LOL I'm packing light jackets and jeans. Those little stretchie gloves too.

I would wear capris or shorts and a tshirt during the day, and throw a sweatshirt or lined jacket on at night.

As someone else said layers. Last week I would start the day with capris and a light sweat jacket over my short sleeve t-shirt. By afternoon I would ditch the jacket. By evening I would be using the jacket again. My kiddo wore shorts instead of capris and a couple of evenings we both ended up wearing long pants. Just bring a few options and you will be fine.

Looking at Accuweather.com for next week, the high's should be from 66-76, with the lows mostly in the 50's. Don't forget that the low doesn't usually hit until the middle of the night. I would vote for capris with a tee for daytime, and light jacket/sweatshirt for early morning or late evening. I always use an extra cool evening to buy a new sweatshirt!! Have a great time!

I’m warm natured. My wife is cold natured (much more than I am warm natured).

Having said that, we were there last week and shorts/t-shirt was the day wear. We would go back to the room in the late afternoon for a break and bring back a longsleeve shirt or sweater with us and we did just fine.
I made the mistake of wearing pants one night, which was the night MK was open until 3am… I was sweating. ;)

That's jeans and sneakers weather for me. Jeans, short sleeve shirt and a hoodie in the morning. Hoodie gets tied at the waist in the afternoon, put back on at night. It would have to sustain 82-85 during the day for me to start off with shorts or capri's.
55 degree mornings at Disney are coooooolllllld. They aren't like 55 degree days here, which are warm. Doesn't make sense, but that's the way it feels.

I live in Austin, TX and our weather is a lot like Orlando's. One thing to keep in mind is that when the forecast high is for 80 degrees that means it may hit that high sometime during the day - usually around 2 or 3 p.m. for maybe ten minutes - and then it heads back down. When I arrive tomorrow the high is going from the 80s to the 70s`and the only days it is forecast until the 15 for the 80s it also forecasts rain. I am not bringing a winter coat, but I have cords, jeans, capris, NO shorts, Tees and turlenecks, sweaters, sweatshirts, shoes, socks, sandals, and long silk underwear. I am also bringing a warm fleece, gloves, a warm Christmas hat, and a swimsuit! LOL! I usually use a little daypack in the park, but bought a little bigger daypack for this trip so I can carry layers. I don't like the lockers. I got stuck for two hours one time when they wouldn't open and we were all standing around waiting for someone to fix them so we could get our stuff.

I don't want to have to go back to the room, so it's jeans and a tee shirt (and closed shoes - no sandals) and a sweatshirt which can be carried. If it is cold in the AM a heavy jacket can end up in a locker. I am bringing gloves for sure, and a scarf. If it gets colder in PM then a trip back to the room might be necessary (or carry cash to buy another sweatshirt!)

Holy crap! Talk about prepared! LOL.

If you’re cold natured, then you’re probably doing the right thing. But, if you’re not, there may be no need to bring all the accessories. Truthfully, most everyone I saw there last week were wearing shorts and a sweater/longsleeve at night time. In fact, some days it was pretty warm during the day and if I had worn jeans those days I would’ve been miserable.

I just checked the weather, and when I was there the temp was:
Average High = 80*F
Average Low = 67*F

Hope that helps.

We are going to bring Jeans and t-shirts.. along with heavy coats!!!

I must be one of the odd balls here. The last time I went during the winter I brought nothing but shorts. I did bring a jacket, but I figured I was in Florida and I was going to get my moneys worth out of the shorts I bought for the trip. I did that on high band trips too, but now that I am getting a little older I think I will bring some pants with me just in case. I am bringing my North face weather proof middleweight jacket and I think that will be enough to keep me warm. I am extremely warm blooded. I wear shorts year round until there is snow on the ground.

We midwesterners never wear long underwear, turtlenecks, polar fleece, gloves or hats when the forecast low is 50/60. To us, that is summer. :rotfl: I totally understand that people get acclimated to where they live, but I have to tell you how my DH and I snickered when we moved to So CA and saw everyone schleping around in snow boots when there was no snow. Heck, half the time around here we don't wear our snow boots when there IS snow on the ground.

We usually have two strollers with us so we do have a little extra storage. If you are not taking an afternoon break you could put heavy warm wear in a locker. I'd wear capri's and tshirt with my hooded jacket and I throw a blanket in for watching parades/fireworks. I'll sit on teh ground and we can all be under the blanket. If need be I will bring hats and gloves.
That locker is a great thing especially if you have nowhere else to cart your stuff in.
Layers are a great idea. Even a light jacket and a heavy jacket should suffice. Whatever you wear on your feet to be comfortable would be good. I always bring my comfortable flip flops and my sneakers anyway in case my footwear become soaked due to rides or rain.
You will have a lovely time!
