What do you wear when it is high 70's/80 during the day and high 50's/60 at night?

I live in PA and am used to cold weather. However, when I've been there in early December and the daytime temps were in the 60's or lower, I found it got uncomfortably cold when the sun went down. One year I did bring a winter coat and gloves and was glad to have them for evening.

I'm leaving Saturday and still am not sure about what jacket/coat to bring. I may bring 2, one light and one heavier.

I learned this one the hard way last year!

We went to WDW for Christmas. The week before, the weather channel was predicting 30s-mid 60's for the whole week. All I took were jeans and long sleeve shirts, with a sweater vest.

The temps... 70-8- during the day (ALLLL day) high 50's at night!

Let me tell you, sweating in jeans all day is a recipe for disaster. After 2 days i had such a rash i could hardly walk! I spent Christmas Eve in the room with cold compresses on my thighs from the rubbing of the jeans!

If you are going to wear jeans, take some body glide with you.

We are going back this year and I am packing cotton capri pants, jeans, t-shirts, long sleeve shirts and a sweatshirt. I'm planning to be prepared for basically anything! Oh yeah...and LOTS of body glide!

For the months that you know won't be hot and stick you should really bring a little of everything and just check the weather before you head out for the day. I don't like to go back to the room because it takes a lot of time out of my park time!; and I really don't like paying $10 for a locker! I'd probably wear sports shorts or capris and bring a sweatshirt/jacket in my bag.

Here's my "lesson learned." I was at WDW October 8-17 this year, and was very surprised at the weather and clothing "challenges!"

Record high temps the first week (low to mid 90s every day), so I packed mostly shorts, sleeveless tops, and sandals. One fleece top, one pair of long pants, one pair of sneakers, and a few pairs of ankle socks.

At the end of the trip, the temp swung down more than 30 degrees! It went from low 90s to about 60 degrees (and windy!). Because I'd packed mostsly shorts and sleeveless tops, I was totally unprepared for the (relative) cold, and froze my buns off! What I wouldn't have given for a warm jacket, knee socks, gloves, and a scarf! Because it was at the end of the trip, I couldn't bring myself to buy a $50 sweatshirt, so I just layered the best I could and ended up buying a pair of long socks at the Japan pavilion (the kind you wear with flip flops!). But I'll never do that again! I'll always bring a little of everything, even at times of year where it seems like you'd never need them.

We midwesterners never wear long underwear, turtlenecks, polar fleece, gloves or hats when the forecast low is 50/60. To us, that is summer. :rotfl: I totally understand that people get acclimated to where they live, but I have to tell you how my DH and I snickered when we moved to So CA and saw everyone schleping around in snow boots when there was no snow. Heck, half the time around here we don't wear our snow boots when there IS snow on the ground.

Heck I've worn high heels with nylons when it's below zero! Minnesota here....so yeah, 50/60 is heaven when we leave here and it's below zero.
