Just another sign of the times...you can't buy concert tickets from the venue anymore; scalpers (or TM) scoop them up and sell them on the aftermarket for hundreds more. You want to bring a bag with you on the plane? Pay up...You want to have low crowds in the morning at Disney, pay twice the price of a normal ticket. If they can make a buck off of it, they will sell it because that's the only thing that matters.

It makes it nice for rich people, because they can afford it, but who cares about the regular folk anymore. This seems like something only stupidly rich (or just stupid?) people would pay for because it's a total rip-off. All this does is mess with all of us who are well prepared for our trips.

End rant >:(:crazy2:

I am neither stupidly rich nor stupid. I have discretionary money that I choose to spend on what is of value to me. Likewise, if you choose to spend your discretionary money on Franklin Mint plates, beanie babies, or a trip to Disney, that doesn't make you stupidly rich or stupid either.

For me, the value is more than rides per hour. I get an opportunity to take pictures in front of the castle with fewer people. I get to ride more rides at an earlier time, which frees up 2 of my FP+ choices. I get to extend my park hours, which (like my vacation time) is limited. I'm an early riser, and an hour in the park is better than an hour in the hotel room. Of course, I get breakfast, which I was going to eat anyway. All of this might have limited or no value to you. And that's OK.

The unknown variable is how many tickets they'll sell. That's a $130 risk (for me) that I'm willing to take.

I'd do it. It's only 2 of us, so that minimizes the overall cost. My son once rode 7DMT seven times in a row after a rain storm cleared out the park. He still talks about it. I'd love to give him the chance to do that again.

When do these go on sale?

This opened for booking online as of 6:00 this morning.

I totally see your point, but just wanted to mention that people shouldn't be booking this thinking they will get a near empty park with spectacular castle photos and so forth. All of the prepark opening ADRs are still fully booked, meaning that a few thousand of your closest friends will be joining you for those Main Street and castle photos. The only thing you won't notice those crowds for is the actual ride experience.

This is my thinking, too. This Early Morning Magic really appeals to my family for many reasons.

1) Walking through a mostly empty Main Street. We've only done this at the end of the night, happily exhausted after a looong day. I would love to have morning Castle pictures that have fewer (zero?) people in the background.

2) More FastPass options. We always FP 7DMT and PP, which usually means we only ride these once a day. I like the option to ride in the morning and then FP again later in the day, or use those on other rides.

3) Touring plans. We are rope drop people and we get so much done in that first hour! To extend that productive morning time in the park WOULD be Magical! I think it could be a significant plus to already be in the back of the park when the rest of the park opens.

4) Breakfast/brunch. We usually eat a small breakfast before rope drop and then have a "brunch" in the park. The breakfast offerings with this event sound perfect for us. I also take sandwich baggies to the park to save any pastries or fruit we want for later. So that extends our brunch value a bit.

The question is, how many people will they allow for this event? As previous posters have mentioned, if lines are too long for rides and breakfast, you could spend all your time in line. I am anxious to hear how this plays out. This event is more attractive to our family than the After Hours events. Alas, we have no plans to return to the parks until 2018. We visited in January of this year, and next year we are cruising. It's possible this will no longer be an option for our next trip.

I probably won't do it. I don't see the value for my family if a few more attractions were open and it were longer....maybe. However, I could see how this might appeal to offsite guests who don't have EMH and can't book FP 60 days in advance. You get breakfast and the ability to ride two of the most difficult FP to get (PP and 7DMT).

Ive said this before there is a sucker born every minute. Some of the folks who partake may not realize if they simply show up at RD they can do those 3 rides in the same 90 minute time frame and keep the money in their own pockets.

.... but then they wouldn't get that sweet Counter Service breakfast...... at 9:00am......

What happens if you have an early morning reservation at CP on one of these day (before 9:00 a.m.)?

Is it worth the money? Not in my opinion. However, if money were no object, I'd probably do it. Since money is an object for me, there's no way I'd pay the additional $266 it would cost to get my family of four in the park an hour early even though it includes breakfast. For our upcoming vacation we booked a pre-park opening ADR at BOG on a non EMH day. We did this only so we can stay ahead of the Mine Train mob and get a jump start on our day at MK. The cost for breakfast for four will be about $70. That's about as much as I'm willing to pay for any sort of early entry.

I know this is a repeat theme on the boards but this Early Morning Magic thing is just another example of Disney squeezing money out of it's guests and yet another offering for the "privileged class", who already have plenty of options such as top tiered lodging and expensive restaurants. Things like this morning MK event along with the tiered parking nullify the extra effort and advanced planning that many of us put in to avoid the crowds and get the most out of what is already an expensive vacation.

I'm
Waiting to hear the first melt downs when guests show up to find that 7dmt is down for technical difficulties and they're all given a FP to come back later.
My prediction is that this event will be unpopular and will be gone by the end of summer

This "sucker" realizes that, when you're crossing underneath the train, I'll already be at the back of the park, riding a ride or waiting in line while you get in line behind me.

You selectively ignore all of the other individual values that have been mentioned. It might not be of value to you, but to insinuate that those who do find value are uninformed, suckers or stupid (see PP) is narrow minded.

I wonder if they will do a welcome show at 9 after the early magic people are already in the park?????

I am trying to rearrange my schedule to avoid these days, but the only thing that would work is a regular extra magic hours morning which is fine. We are on property. We just normally avoid those days as a rule.

I allowed my kids to each invite one friend this year. Neither of these kids have ever been, and I really wanted them to see the welcome show at magic kingdom. We are only doing one park day at magic kingdom and would have to give up our BOG lunch and crystal palace dinner reservation to shuffle everything.

All three of those rides I am good with riding once a day. By doing rope drop/fast pass, I can hit all three in the first 45 minutes or so. I do not want to waste time at a sit down breakfast while the park is open either.

I am just so glad it is not happening on my planned MK day with my pre-park opening ADR!

A better usage of disposable income IMO is adding an extra day to your tickets and booking a PPO breakfast for those castle pics.

My best.

That's right. You can spend your disposable income in a way that maximizes your personal value. For those that don't have a disposable vacation day (or perhaps attach value differently than you or I), they can spend their money in a way that maximizes their personal value. Again, that doesn't make them uninformed, suckers, or stupid.

For the record I've never posted that those who find value in this event are stupid, yet twice now you have insinuated I made that remark.

My best.

I'm not judging anyone, if you think it fits your budget and it makes sense to do it, go for it. Just remember nothing is guaranteed. Like a PP said, any of the rides can be down and that precious castle pic could end up like this, this happens a lot here with the humidity and temps. Keep all this in mind and make the best decision for your family.

Well, I HAD a BOG prepark ADR for May 7th. So I felt like I kinda have to book it. Tried changing my ADR with no luck. THis just sucks.

I just switched around my touring plans. I had planned to rope drop and head straight to Fantasyland on a tuesday in June, but now that isn't a great idea. I know that the breakfast people will have already ridden 3 of the rides, but that just means that they'll already be there, gumming up the works on the other rides. The reason that rope drop is a good strategy isn't that it is inherently magical, but from a pure numbers perspective there are less people in the park and in line. Anytime you increase the number of people in the park you increase wait times across the board. I'm going to try and avoid early morning magic from now on, but on the days that I can't, I'll be starting my day in Adventureland or Tomorrowland.
