We recently rediscovered the greatness that is Tom Sawyers Island. Nothing beats a hot, tourist filled day at the Magic Kingdom like a quick trip over to Tom Sawyers Island. Especially if the ice cream and lemonade stands are up and running!
For one, I just find the whole layout of it very peaceful and relaxing, and it's a great place to have a snack or lunch. There is lots of shade, so it's a nice way to get out of the sun, and the caves are great for kids (and adults too

).
Plus, it's one of the few places that Disney hasn't taken the whole "gun" theme away from, since you can still go to the fort and take shots and hear your gun fire just like when I was a kid. You won't find that hardly anywhere else in Disney now a days (Ft. Wilderness has almost all references of a gun removed).
It's not like it's a dead attraction, I still see full boats heading both ways every time we go.
Plus, who doesn't love jumping up and down on the barrell bridge, watching as your dear wife hangs on like she's about to fall in the water...lol
