Could I have the cherry dessert instructions as it sounds quick and easy to bring to a gathering? Does it begin with a pre-made angel food cake? Needed something quick to make and bring somewhere last weekend and ended up with silly Krispie Treats and was drowning in marshmallow goo. Bad decision.for father's day....angel food cake and made it into a cake/custard/cherry dessert (one of DS's favorite)
Today....."Big Sandwich", a family favorite.
you can use a pre made cake because you rip it up.....and what ever kind of pie filling you like. I used cherry this time because DGS loves cherries. That's so great and definitely will make to use the numerous times I want non-bake items to bring.you can use a pre made cake because you rip it up.....and what ever kind of pie filling you like. I used cherry this time because DGS loves cherries. DS prefers blueberries
1 angel food cake (pre made or bake yourself)
2 packages instant vanilla pudding (small packs)
3 cups milk (I use skim)
2 cups sour cream
1 can pie filling (cherry, blueberries, whatever you want).
I use 2 cans because 1 doesn't cover well enough for my liking
Tear the cake into small pieces and put in 13 x9" pan.
In a bowl mix milk, sour cream and pudding mixes until thickened. Let chill 30 minutes,
Spread pie filling over top. Chill
It’s a monsoon here too, and expected to be for the next week. This is not our normal weather. It is a good excuse to use the oven in summer though.I guess a Tombstone frozen pizza does not qualify. I might redeem myself by baking brownies since it is going to monsoon here for 3 days![]()
Did you make the filling from scratch? One of my biggest regrets when it comes to desserts is that I didn’t get my grandmother’s home made from scratch butterscotch pie recipe. It was so good!I made a butterscotch pie for DH the other day, but it's not technically "baked" since I used a chocolate walnut crust. It was good, though.

Nothing wrong with pudding mix. That’s what I use if I make one. Her pie was so much better though (and definitely not for diabetics).Sorry - DH is diabetic, so I used a sugar-free jello pudding mix.
Sorry if this is a stupid question...do you just use brownie mix or is there a recipe you prefer? These would definitely be something my DH would LOVE!Brownie Cookies
