What did WE celebrate? .. 30 days of Disney fun and food! Update 04/02

Glad you had such a nice meal at CRT. I ate there a very long time ago, when it was still Royal Someone or other's dining hall. Strangely enough, my dad had beef barley soup! :lmao: I don't remember my meal or much about the place, really, except the elevator we took up.

I remember when it was still King Stephen's Banquet (or something) they had the beef barley soup as well! :lmao:
We weren't "allowed" to use the elevator - they made us walk up! ;)

great update on Brown Derby and CRT. We love eating at Brown Derby.

getting close to your trip...:cool1::banana::cool1: You must be getting excited. Did you start packing yet?

That's so exciting about the Dismeet, you have to write all about it when you get back. GF tea is one of my favorite things to do in Disney but the last time we have done GF tea is when we stayed there but my husband had private dinning set it up in our balcony while our son napped. Maybe when he is older we can do high tea but during the day he loves being in the park or the pool (he does great job at signature dinning but I think high tea is later on for him).
I'm really getting excited for you. :cheer2:

Thank your for sharing our excitement!

This is our second attempt at GF tea. We wanted to do it last year, but cancelled it because we wanted to give "The Ditch" a try! ;)
Wow, having the tea on your balcony sounds like heaven! Lucky girl! :goodvibes

Loving your CRT update, can't wait to eat there again this year. The beef looks so good, if you go again I would defo recommend the fried chicken, so tasty :)

We are eating at CRT in August for the girls birthday !! I already know I will order the shrimp appie , and the tenderloin, dessert is still up in the air as both looked yummy!!!

It took a long time to finally make our mind up to eat there - we are not really into character meals, but actually the food was pretty good and I liked the atmosphere.
I am tempted to go there again for breakfast - have you tried that?

You will really enjoy it Rosie! The atmosphere is really nice and make the girls wear a birthday button - I am sure the characters will get into the act! ;)

Karin, just a few more sleeps!

Now you have me rethinking CRT again. I like breakfast there but had a bad experience at lunch. But looking at your pics and review, and checking the menu, it may just be on our list for our next visit. Thanks!

We haven't tried breakfast, but know people that have and had lots of fun. We were supposed to try Akershus last year but I couldn't sum up the energy to get up early (we were quite lazy with lay in's last year come to think about it :teeth: )

I know what you mean about the character part, for me it was about eating inside the castle and the characters were a bonus. But the princesses were lots of fun and Ariel was just so cute and giggly and our server was just the best. Do you think you will try it for breakfast?

Hi Karin

Well I am back from DLP and I had a wonderful time :cool1:

I'm going to try and do a trip report, I haven't done one before (only dining reviews)

I've just caught up with your reviews :goodvibes

I've never tried HBD but your food looked really good

We have a breakfast ADR at CRT in May which we are really looking forward to - Only three more months to wait !!

What an amazing report! I am somewhat homebound with my 3 month old who was a preemie, so your report has been a highlight on this stircrazy day! :)
Dreaming of when I can take him and his big sisters to DW!:lovestruc

Happy Valentine's Day!!

great review of CRT. :thumbsup2
cant wait to book an ADR for there :)

We really enjoyed our meal there! And I guess we will even make a repeat visit some time soon! ;)
I am definitely thinking about breakfast! :thumbsup2

4 more sleeps! :yay:

We could never commit to do CRT, but when Mary Ellen and Joe asked to eat there we just went along.
NOW I am wondering, why we waited so long. The food was really nice, much better than the mediocre reviews lately made it look. And the character interaction was real good fun! :thumbsup2

Karin I plan to make sure EVERYONE knows it is their 16th Birthday !!! They may never speak to me again:rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2:

You're my kind of girl, Rosie! Just let EVERYONE know it's their birthday! :rotfl2: Are you planning on doing a special dessert, like Cinderella's slipper for them?

I might get up to have breakfast in the castle, not so sure about Akershus though! ;)
I am really toying with the idea of trying it for breakfast one day in September!

Hi Linda!
I am so glad you had a wonderful time at DLRP! :thumbsup2 :yay:

Please let me know IF/WHEN you do a trip report for DLRP - maybe you should start a pre-trippie for your May trip and include it there? ;)

The food at the HBD was quite good, but I felt so out of place in my park gear - and we even dressed a bit nicer for the day! :lmao:

PLEASE, let me know about your breakfast experience at CRT in May! Might make or break my decision! ;)

Thank you!
Hope your little one is doing well and growing into a healthy toddler that can soon be taken to WDW! :thumbsup2

hi karin - just back from our short trip to WDW. i just posted my reviews - thanks for the motivation :)
:goodvibes

I need to get over to the boards (I kind of "only check" my subscriptions) and check out your review! :thumbsup2

Day 26, September 8

Lunch at Liberty Tree Tavern

We met Mary Ellen and Joe at noon at the Magic Kingdom for lunch at Liberty Tree Tavern.

After signing in we waited for about 3 minutes until we were seated towards the back of the restaurant.

Our server was on hand quickly and took our drinks orders and we soon ordered appetizers and main courses.

Tom and I ordered the same appetizer, the Tavern Fried Cheese - with marinara sauce and shared with Mary Ellen and Joe.
We all enjoyed the fried cheese and since this is very filling we were glad we shared! :thumbsup2

Tom ordered the New England Pot Roast... The Tavern Keeper's Favorite - braised beef in a cabernet wine and mushroom sauce served with mashed potatoes and garden vegetables. He had had it before and it was just as he remembered it - the meat was so tender you could cut it with a fork and it was very tasty and he really enjoyed the mash!

I ordered my "old" favourite, the Pilgrims’ Feast, Traditional Roast Turkey and Herb Bread Dressing, Mashed Potatoes, and a Garden Vegetable. I just love the turkey and stuffing meal! It is a huge helping though and I have yet to conquer a whole plate full of it! ;)

IMG_7869.jpg

Joe ordered the Chocolate Brownie - dark chocolate brownie with vanilla ice cream, which he "inhaled"! Guess it must have been good. :lmao:

IMG_7867.jpg

Mary Ellen and Tom both ordered the Seasonal No Sugar Added Sorbet with berries. To be honest it was just like the sorbet they had had the day before at Cindy's. They liked it.

Needless to say I needed something with chocolate. So I ordered something that was new on the menu, the Decadent Chocolate Terrine, A slice of liberation topped with fresh Berries and vanilla custard. Delicious! Lots of gooey chocolate. So yummy!

So, once we had settled the bill we were ready to conquer the kingdom!
