What did WE celebrate? .. 30 days of Disney fun and food! Update 04/02

Those EOS sandwiches and desserts look very yummy. Mark would really die for that bread pudding -- a favorite of his.

Karin, I haven't tried the All American yet, but it really looks good! I think I'll try that next time.

We also tried the soup there as well as the pasta salad. Both were very, very good!

great updates, I never saw the Mickey puffy cheese snacks and I want to get them for my son. Can you use credits for them and where Can I get them?
Thanks

yum - I love EOS but never tried the bread and butter pud.

We missed out on a lot of EoS lately due to being on the DDP. But we are going without DDP in February and for half of our vacation in August, so I hope we get to try even more.
The Bread and Butter Pudding was really good! Next time I need to try it fresh, not after a few days in the fridge! :lmao:

LOVE Earl of Sandwich. In fact, we were there for dinner just last night!!! I had the Holiday sandwich. My favorite!

Still loving this report Karin....keep it coming please!

:thumbsup2
I envy you because you have a WPE AND an EoS close by!!! The Holiday sandwich I tried a few years back (during our one and only Christmas trip :sad2:) was SO good!!
They are opening an EoS at Disneyland Paris and I hope it tastes exactly like the one at DTD!! :woohoo: Can't wait!!!

EOS so good. We have never tried it before. The line is always so long! I am glad to hear it moves quickly so we'll definitely try it next time. Everything always sounds so good, I won't know how to choose.

The puffy cheese crackers look so cute! I don't remember seeing those so I will be on the lookout next time. Do they taste kind of like goldfish crackers?

I was amazed at how quickly the line moved as a long line turns me off big time. The sandwiches are really good! Well worth trying!

If your goldfish crackers are like ours here in Europe ;) :confused3, then yes, they taste a lot like them - just cheesier!
They were really nice! :thumbsup2

Karin - your reviews and pictures always make me soooooo hungry!:goodvibes

Those EoS desserts look yummy! We didn't have the opportunity to eat there this time and now I feel sad about it!:sad1:

If my photos make you hungry then I have a feeling, I am doing something right! :rotfl2:

The EoS desserts were really good, and if you missed EoS this time - EoS is coming to the Disneyland Paris Disney Village in the spring!!!! Or you put it right on top of your list for your next trip! ;) They are still offering great deal at Disney.uk!! I just booked us at OKW again! ;)

Those EOS sandwiches and desserts look very yummy. Mark would really die for that bread pudding -- a favorite of his.

We have always liked them, but since we do not consider them a "good deal" on the DDP :lmao: (yes, I want good deals, even if I get the DDP for free! ;)) we very rarely made it there.
That bread pudding was so nice - Mark needs to get some next time. (But only if he behaves and lets you take photos of ALL the food! :rotfl:)

Karin, I haven't tried the All American yet, but it really looks good! I think I'll try that next time.

We also tried the soup there as well as the pasta salad. Both were very, very good!

We have yet to meet a sandwich we don't like at EoS and we have had quite a few! But PLEASE, try the All American, it is SO good!

Maybe I should try some soup next time. Is the pasta salad more on the sweet side? Here in Austria we have pasta salad and it is rather on the vinegary side - so I am never sure IF I would like it. :confused3

great updates, I never saw the Mickey puffy cheese snacks and I want to get them for my son. Can you use credits for them and where Can I get them?
Thanks

I think the little containers of crackers are new. We had never seen them before either. And YES, they are snack credits! They seemed to be available everywhere where they had assorted snack credits. WoD, most resort CS locations, most gift shops. They seemed to sell them everywhere. :thumbsup2

Still Day 7, August 20

Dinner at Boma

We spent the afternoon relaxing at the Villa especially since we had a long night at the Magic Kingdom ahead of us, there were EMH from midnight until 3am!! :scared1:

So, at 6pm we drove over to the Animal Kingdom Lodge and signed in for our dinner at Boma. We waited for about 15 minutes until we were led to our table.
Our server was slooooooooooooow!!! It took forever to bring out our Diet Cokes, let alone did she understand what cocktails we wanted to order. We had to hand her the menu so she could look at it!

Tom ordered the ......

and I had the

While the server went to get our drinks we went over to the buffet for our first plate of food. I had read a lot about the food and we were intrigued.

IMG_5866.jpg

I tried the She Crab soup and it was horrible - no salt whatsoever and a slightly off taste. The little corn muffin was nice and the salads ALL could have used some salt. I wouldn't want seconds of anything on my plate.

IMG_5867.jpg

Tom had the Lental and Sausage soup which was quite nice but needed SALT!! So did the salads - I liked the watermelon rind salad least!

Now, if you found a trend in here ...... they must have been out of salt that day, because EVERYTHING needed salt!!

IMG_5882.jpg

Yes, we did take three plates as we wanted to try most of the items. I expected them to be spicy but they were mostly bland and needed lots of ............

S A L T

The beef was just okay - not really tender and my piece of salmon was as dry as the Sahara! Tom's was a little better, he took it from the other side of the plate - so this is why we both had different experiences on the salmon.
To be honest we will NOT return for dinner! Even though the buffet was huge and looked good - we did not like much of the offerings and had I been really hungry I would have had to retreat to the child's offerings of chicken nuggets! :scared1:
We do love breakfast and will definitely go back for breakfast - dinner? Thanks, but no thanks!

Here are a few photos of the buffet itself.

Tom's plate - he liked everything with the "yellow stuff" being his and also my least favourite.

IMG_5899.jpg

My plate - very similar to Tom's and apart from the orange (Mango?) dessert I liked them all! :thumbsup2

So, that means that not all was lost, but we both feel no desire to return to Boma for dinner!

Price breakdown:
DDP - 24 credits to start with
Boma .... $ 65,80 (2 TS credit)
TS credits left - 12
CS credits left - 11
Snack credits left 16

Overall money spent on DDP: $ 674,50

Next up - A snack at the Aloha Isle

Todd and I are with you guys sister..we do not like Boma dinner at all ICK! Love breakfast though.

The lack of salt is funny because at all the other dinner buffets we have gone to (really just the character ones) the one flavor that over powers the food is salt! Everything is just so salty I cannot eat it!

Just got caught up again! I love your reviews. I really shouldn't read them when I am hungry though! :lmao:

I'm sorry you didn't like Boma, it's one of my favorites, and I think it's the next review coming up in my reviews if I have my days straight. I think it must've been a fluke that night, I usually find the food there to be very well seasoned and not bland at all.

I never liked the watermelon rind salad either though, always tastes too powerfully of cloves, and that yellow dessert thing, which my guess would be passion fruit, I thought it was too tart, and I didn't like the texture of it. I did love that mini peanut butter mousse though, which I see on your plate, I thought that was yummy, and could even possibly be better then the zebra domes.

The other thing is that we discussed back and forth about OKW and have now FINALLY booked OKW from Aug 13 - 21, 1 bedroom villa with a 42% discount :woohoo: AND free dining :woohoo: (And I vowed NEVER to do the dining plan again, just 6 weeks ago! :rotfl2:)

How did you get a 42% room discount & free dining, I thought you could not stack discounts? Curious............

We LOVE breakfast there too! I guess this is why we were so disappointed in the food.
Maybe they used up ALL their salt at the other buffets! ;) :rotfl2: I don't mind if something is not salted enough, but at that meal it seemed as if they had banned the salt altogether. :lmao:
Desserts were nice though!

If reading them makes you hungry, then I seem to do something right!

Yes, desserts were good and a lot to choose from.

:santa::santa::santa:

It's an offer that comes from the British Disney Travel Company - book a villa resort and receive 42% off rack rate AND the free dining. They have been offering it for the last 3 years if I remember correctly. That way, staying at OKW in a 1 bedroom villa with FD costs about the same as FD at POR. :goodvibes

Nicki told me NOT to go to Boma for dinner and you have just now confirmed that we will stick with breakfast only! :thumbsup2

From what we had, I would not recommend it either ...... but if you read disneyfav4ever's review, that is totally different. :confused3

Breakfast on the other hand ...... :cloud9:, that is something we really love. If only the AKL wasn't so far away, even with a car it is quite a drive from OKW.

Kathy, now that we have booked our flight for February I sat until midnight yesterday to make my itinerary. I need to post it once I am done ironing as I guess you would love it ;) and maybe suggest a few changes. BTW, Nicki, I could use your opinion too! (Now back to ironing ..... :scared1:)

I have to say I really enjoyed breakfast as well, though the selection was kind of limited without eating meat. But the scrambled eggs were fantastic. And along the same style, Tusker House has a great breakfast as well.

Don't they have goats cheese scrambled eggs? I remember they had some special scrambled eggs and they were yummy! I went back for seconds! :lmao:

We've never been to Tusker House, the characters scare us away! :rotfl2: But maybe if the food is so good we need to try it one day! :goodvibes

Don't let the characters scare you, they're very friendly. ;):lmao:

But I've always loved the food there. I've been there twice for breakfast, and it's been great both times. Plus they have the same juice as Boma.

Well, you are correct about my having a WPE close to home. But....the EoS I visited the other night was at DTD!!!!

Yes, we snuck in a quick getaway this week to Disney World! :woohoo:

Thanks for the update, we were not too happy with our Boma dinner too (when we went 2x the food was soooo SALTY) but loved the dessert. We would never go back for dinner but we love breakfast. When we went for dinner we never saw our server (we did not get refills for drinks until we got our check) but breakfast the server are awesome (we went for breakfast 3x and love all 3 breakfast).
Love your reviews and can't wait for more. Thanks for the information on the new Mickey puffy cheese snacks (if I have alot of snacks left over I need to buy them for my sons friends)

Enjoying your reviews. We love WPE too and the pizza is my favorite breakfast there.

Sorry Boma dinner was disappointing for you guys. I went last December and thought it was pretty good. I have an ADR for breakfast for this December, so I'm hoping that will be even better!
