What did WE celebrate? .. 30 days of Disney fun and food! Update 04/02

Karin, those February plans look great! Wish we could join you.

I like your Tuesday dinner plans. We ate at Via Napoli last Friday and YUMMO!

:woohoo: for thinking about another cruise! It's a shame you can't come the same time we will be there, but your daughter's wedding needs to come first! ;) :lmao:
But what about 2012 - the Fantasy does 7 day Caribbean cruises? ;)

2012- 7 day Caribbean cruise on the Fantasy sounds good, we were talking about that when the new itineraries came out.

Will we make it to CP? It's an early ADR as well! We'll see - at least we want to take those photos on Main Street real bad, so maybe that will make us get up early!

I enjoy your reviews. I hope you make it next year to CP pooh:We got some great shots of an empty MS .CP is one of our must dos on a WDW vacation( along with multiple visits to WPE:upsidedow). After reading the breakfast reivew from WPE DH & I will have to do it the next trip.

I promised to post my FIRST attempt on an itinerary for our February trip and here it is! :goodvibes

Travel day
Breakfast - at home
Lunch - Frankfurt airport
Dinner - Lufthansa
We'll arrive at 6.40pm, then have to go through immigration and pick up our rental car before we had to the Clarion Lake Buena Vista. (Need to clear that up - I hate checking into a hotel in the evening of a holiday weekend. I always have the feeling that I get the one left over room no one wanted and I don't want to be stuck in it for a week. ;))
After we have checked into the Clarion we will (depending on the time by then) either head to Publix to get a few drinks and snack things or pick them up at the Hess gas station opposite DTD.
Since we will need a late night snack  we will pick up a "little something" at either WPE (most likely) or EoS (maybe! :lmao:).

Sunday, February 20, 2011

Check out of Clarion
Breakfast: WPE (definitely! :thumbsup2:rotfl2:)
Check into Pop (or a moderate, if we can score an AP discount - preferably CSR)
Since this is a holiday weekend we do not intend to hit a park during the day.
We'll most likely do some shopping, DTD, Prime1, LBV outlet mall, maybe the Seminole Mall as we have not been there in a long time.
Lunch: offsite
We hope that our room will be ready by early to mid afternoon, so we can get a little rest
In the evening we want to be at the MK by 7 to watch the MSEP
Dinner: California Grill (watch Wishes from there)
Spend the evening at the MK for EMH until 2am :scared1:

Monday, February 21, 2011

Guess we'll sleep in a little ;)
Early lunch: WPE (did you expect anything else?)
We'll spend the day offsite, doing more shopping
Dinner: offsite
Evening at Disney's Hollywood Studios for EMH until 10pm
Maybe depending on when we will have dinner we might pick up a turkey leg at the Studios for a late night snack or an EoS sandwich.

Tuesday, February 22, 2011

Now that the holiday weekend is over we will hit the parks.
We'll most likely grab a bite to eat in the room (leftovers?)

Sunday, February 27, 2011

Return home by mid afternoon
Start dreaming about our next Disney vacation! :rotfl2:

So, what do you think? :goodvibes

Well...looks like there will be QUITE bit of overlapping! :goodvibes And maybe I'm just being self-ish, but I have a feeling you're going to end up at CSR.

So, as I've said, I am DEFINITELY doing EMHs at MK solo on Sunday night. I just cannot pass that one up.

We are also planning on going to AK on Tuesday morning, so we can hook up there.

We are having dinner at Biergarten that night and plan on staying for Illuminations, so there's another opportunity.

And we're planning on being at EPCOT Friday night for EMHs, too! :cool1: Now, we'll just have to make a plan. :goodvibes

Thank you! I wonder how often those plans will get changed until February!

I am sure our Tuesday dinner at Via Napoli is going to stay - we love that place!

2012- 7 day Caribbean cruise on the Fantasy sounds good, we were talking about that when the new itineraries came out.

:woohoo: The itineraries look great, so maybe we'll have a chance to cruise together! :cloud9:

:cool1::woohoo: that's exciting you are planning another trip...more food review for us...:woohoo:

........ and I haven't even finished these yet! :lmao:
I will definitely do another food review - WPE needs promotion, doesn't it? :rotfl2:

I enjoy your reviews. I hope you make it next year to CP pooh:We got some great shots of an empty MS .CP is one of our must dos on a WDW vacation( along with multiple visits to WPE:upsidedow). After reading the breakfast reivew from WPE DH & I will have to do it the next trip.

Thank you!
We went to CP last February and we really liked it! The empty MK was a HUGE extra bonus.
It's just the getting up in the morning that IS a problem!

:woohoo: :woohoo: I love the fact that we have "overlaps"!! :thumbsup2

:wizard: Here's hoping for CSR! :goodvibes ....... would make it much easier! So we'll see you for EMH on Sunday! When is your mum coming? Will she stay with Max, so the two of you can enjoy EMH?

This time the meet HAS TO happen and believe me, we are NOT going to leave it to chance! :lmao:

Still Day 8, August 21

Dinner at the Grand Floridian Cafe

We had used Disney Transport to get to Animal Kingdom and were determined to take the first Monorail Resort bus stop that we got to. Luckily it was the Grand Floridian Bus stop. Only a few other people in line ahead of us, so we were sure to have a seat!

IMG_5940.jpg

We arrived at the bus stop and when we got off we saw the Glass Fairytale Wedding carriage pull up!

IMG_5997.jpg

When we got closer we saw the bride and her parents leaving the GF and getting into the carriage. Needless to say we needed to stay and watch.

IMG_6003.jpg

Once they were inside and started to take photos we had to move on as we were already cutting it close to our reservation.

IMG_6004.jpg

We signed in and were handed a buzzer. It took about 2 minutes until we were called to our table. It was towards the back of the restaurant and right by the window.

The server introduced herself, sorry I forgot her name, but she was very nice! While we were still studying the menu, she went to get our Diet Cokes and our speciality drinks.

IMG_6010.jpg

I can't for the life of me not remember what it was, Tom had! :rotfl2: I only can report that it was strong and that he liked it very much! :thumbsup2

IMG_6005.jpg

I had the Pinacolava. I have had it before and loved it, so why not go with a winner!

IMG_6008.jpg

The server also brought out some bread, which was nice and fresh and

IMG_6007.jpg

some butter with sea salt.

IMG_6014.jpg

Tom had the Spice-dusted Tuna - with Warm Roasted Pepper-Garbanzo Purée, Fennel-Spinach Salad, and Kalamata Olives. I tried a little bit and the Tuna was so fresh and perfect. The puree was creamy and well spiced and went so well with the salad. He loved it!

IMG_6012.jpg

IMG_6016.jpg

I had the Salmon - with Asparagus, Julienne Shiitake and Leeks on a Potato-Chive Beurre Blanc. OH MY GOD, that was good. Perfectly cooked salmon, still pink in the middle - slightly crunchy asparagus and the sauce worked wonders with the salmon! I would order that again in a heartbeat!

There was still dessert to be conquered. We had had the dessert sampler before and had tried some of the individual desserts, there was just one more thing we had not tried yet.

IMG_6017.jpg

The Chocolate Fondue - Dark Chocolate Ganache with Fruit. :cloud9: Well, you can't go wrong with chocolate and fruit, and I like the chocolate fondue they serve at Kona, but this one was out of this world. The chocolate is thick and has a slight orangy taste to it. It reminded me a lot of Terry's Chocolate Orange. Now imagine some fruit and marshmallows dipped into that. It was so good I wanted to lick the little bowl! :lmao: ;) ...... and NO, I did not lick it clean! :rotfl2:

While we were having dinner it started to rain, not just light rain, but a true Florida downpour and so we decided to skip our plans of going to the MK and instead headed back to Old Key West.

Price breakdown:
DDP - 24 credits to start with
Grand Floridian Cafe .... $ 66,40 (2 TS credits)
TS credits left - 10
CS credits left - 9
Snack credits left 13

Overall money spent on DDP: $ 779

Next up - a late night snack from WPE

I would have licked it clean

Chocolate, fruit, marshmallows.....oh boy!

Thank you! I wonder how often those plans will get changed until February!

About as many times as Tom tries on hats. :lmao::lmao::lmao:

GF Cafe looks wonderful. I've never been there for dinner, only lunch, and missed it my last three trips, but I think I'll have to go for dinner next trip.

I have wanted to try the GF cafe on each of our last 3 trips, but I haven't been able to bring myself to going with our 4 kids. With 3 of them "adult" age by Disney's definition, I was afraid it would cost a lot for something they didn't like. I'd love to try it sometime if it were just DW and myself. That salmon looks amazing!

Caught up again! Love the review of GFC. We plan to try it next year but it may be lunch rather than dinner.

And you can add us to the didn't enjoy Boma for dinner crowd. Planning on trying breakfast next trip though.

Sorry I can't pop in as often as I would like. Had a recent job change and they actual frown on Dising (or internet use of any kind) during the day! Go figure?! :rotfl:

That fondue looks fantastic. I love chocolate fondue. My mom isn't coming until Monday afternoon, so we're on our own for Sunday night's EMH, which is why I'm planning on going without Mark and Max. I saw a couple toddlers out that late last year and they were miserable. I felt really bad for them. I'm just hoping Max makes Illuminations once!

Your trip to DLRP is so soon! How exciting!

I've been reading your reviews ever since I discovered the DIS....and they are just fantastic:worship: Thanks so much for sharing your experiences:hippie:

I've never been to GFC. It looks good though, I'll have to put it on my "to try" list!
