I am sure this is a stupid ? on my part, but i am going to do online check in for the first time. I fly out sat feb 10th at 11:40 a.m. What is time i can start online check in. Is it 12:00 a.m. on sat. or is it 11:40 a.m. on the friday before.

thanks in advance

oh let me know, my TA told me that you can't do it before 24 hours so i think Friday afternoon. Let us know when you did and what category you ended up with. TA told me most don't do it right away, which i hope because i will be at work during the time and have to wait til i get home!

so i am assuming that at 11:40 a.m. on friday i can check in online since i am flying out sat at 11:40 a.m. If this is correct i plan on doing it at that time or just right after. I don't want to wait and take that chance.

You are correct it's 11:40 on Friday.

You can also check-in useing a web-enabled cell phone. I do this all the time and just reprint my A's at the ticket counter.

Count backwards 24 hours on a clock from your flight time. There's your answer. They mean exactly, precisely 24 hours, they don't mean "a day," which would be subject to interpretation.

It is exactly 24 hours before your flight departure time. Not a minute before. So if your flight leaves at 11:40 AM on 2/10/07, you can check in at 11:40 AM on 2/9/07.

I would disagree with the TA that stated most people don't do it right away. Depending on when you fly, those A boarding passes really "fly". I believe there are 50 boarding passes in each boarding group.

I personally check in exactly 24 hours before my flight.

I flew at 5:45 on a Thursday afternoon...I 'checked in' with SW at 5:45 on Wednesday afternoon. By the time I had done all three of us (at the same time) we were number 19, 20, 21! When we flew home at 10:40 am on a Monday, I checked in at 10:40 am on Sunday....had 2 completely different reservations to access...4 of us were 14, 15, 16, 17, and the 5th was 29!! Those A boarding passes move right along....be sure to check in right at that 24 hr. mark!!!

Thanks, i guess i will have to come home early then :rolleyes1 .
I wonder if i could check in on both my computers at the same time? One on Laptop the other on desk top? I finish work at 8pm and the checkin will be at 7pm. Will 1 hr make a difference. I am also going alone with 2 kids(1 is 3yrs old)

No need to check in on 2 different computers. You can check in everyone that is listed under the same confirmation at once.
With the 3 year old, you should be able to preboard, and the boarding group letter won't matter. But I would do the online checkin as soon as possible.

Ok, I think you answered a question of mine...... we are a family of 6, the kids are 12, 9, 4 and 2. I will be checking in on line at the 24 hour mark, but since we have little ones, will we be able to pre-board??? I have a friend that has flown a couple of times within the last month and she said that she never heard them anounce a pre boarding time for people with small kids (they have a baby and would have liked to do this...) Do you think she just missed it? Should I plan on being able to preboard everyone? All 6 of us? It would be nice to get the kids on the plane with extra time so they can watch the others get on and look around a bit before I want them to sit still....

Thanks

yes i wonder if the pre boarding with small kids applies to the whole group (we are 5) or just me and the kids???
