What Consitutes a Noisy Room?

Just got back from a great and exhausting vacation on the 7 day magic. Part of my exhaustion stems from, I believe, the room we had and the noises in it...found it hard to fall asleep and kept waking in night. I've read Dave's site on noisy rooms and our was not on the list, so wondering if I was too sensitive, or maybe this room should be added. We were in 6099 and there was a state room on one side, and "nothing" on the other side. We heard a roar/vibrating noise 24/7. Now since I'm a rookie cruiser, I thought this was all very normal and this noise didn't bother me...we certainly did not hear any hall or other stateroom noise as our cabin noise shut out all others! I soon learned this was not the norm as I visited 3 other staterooms (one mid ship and two in the aft) that had total silence. So, this vibrating noise did not bother us, but every minute or two, there were alarm bells going off in the "empty space" beside us and all 4 of us could hear them clearly above the other noise. I reported the alarm noises to guest services after the first night and was just concerned there was a problem and asked someone to get back to us. After another night I did not hear anything from GS and caught the attention of our Deck Manager and asked her to investigate. She brought an engineer to our room while we were out, and still did not hear back from them. Finally on night 6 at 10:00pm I hear back from her saying that the alarm bells are for some tank water levels and when they get below a certain level, the alarm ring until they are refilled. They offered me apologies, which I accepted kindly and then ear plugs which I turned down as I want to hear if my kids need me. I nicely told them, thanks for the information, but I'm just disappointed it took them 5 nights to get back to me and I'm exhausted due to lack of good sleep. Well they called back at 10:30pm that night to offer us a new room..we were all in bed so I declined and since the next night we had to pack up, I never bothered to check out new room. Wondering if others have had problems with alarm bells and wanted to warn folks against room 6099 if noise is an issue.

That's too bad this was an annoyance to you. You should have requestd another stateroom....I'm sure guest Services would have complied
