Hello All,

I know with concierge service you get access to the concierge lounge and complimentary cocktails before meals. But are other things included - like the bottle of water they put in your room or do they stock the fridge with complimentary soda, etc? Are there any special perks you get for staying in a concierge room that are complimentary? Or preferred seating at any of the shows?

Thanks

They do keep your stateroom fridge stocked with water and soda. Just let your stateroom host know what you like.

Also you can order full breakfasts, not just continental, via room service. And you can get continental breakfast on debarkation morning if you place your order the night before.

I don't remember preferred show seating but the sailing we were on that time wasn't very full so perhaps it just wasn't necessary. (It was a 4 night Dream sailing, and we were able to upgrade from VGT to the 1 bedroom concierge at port for $900. That's how empty it was.)

This is a list I put together after we sailed in a 1-bedroom suite on the Dream. DCL has changed the way they bill for Internet usage since then, so that perk has probably changed accordingly.

-Priority check-in and boarding (guaranteed assignment to boarding group 1)

Oh yeah, and to this day my kids talk about the huge jacuzzi tub in the bathroom. There's a tv behind the mirror, that only becomes visible when you turn it on. They spent hours sitting in the bath tub watching tv. Sigh.

For what it's worth grab room 12000 if you can. The verandah is insanely huge. We loved it.

Bear in mind these lists of services vary depending on the class of ship, especially the lounge, which classic ships do no have.

Lisa Lisa has done a fabulous job of describing the differences. Let me add a couple of things.

First, as she noted, DCL has changed the way they charge for Internet access – it's now by MB rather than by the minute (which is a mercy because the speeds tend to be r e a l l y s l o w at times, especially when you're a long way from land). Concierge passengers are given (I believe) 100MB free access. (Or rather, you've already paid for it.)

Next, note that the Dream and the Fantasy have a concierge lounge and concierge sun deck, but the Magic and Wonder don't. The Dream-class ships also have concierge family veranda staterooms, which are pretty much like deluxe family veranda staterooms except you get the concierge perks, like the lounge and sundeck.

On the Magic and Wonder, the only concierge rooms are suites – 1 bedroom, 2 bedroom, and Royal suites – all on deck 8. There is no concierge lounge, and no concierge sundeck. Instead, there are two onboard concierges, one for the port side and one for the starboard side, and they make it a point of seeking you out at least once a day to see if there's anything you need or would like. It's really nice to have a concierge lounge as there are three concierges, any of whom will move heaven and Earth to make you happy, plus three servers, who will do likewise.

Despite this, our best DCL concierge experience was on the Wonder, because the concierge we had, Rodrigo, was absolutely phenomenal. I don't think he ever slept, and he seemed to be there whenever we turned around. It only seemed like there were six of him because he did everything we could have even imagined we might like. We're REALLY hoping he's still on the Wonder, and will be with us on the EBPC!

Complimentary beverages are, I believe, still different as well. On the Dream-class ships, you can get complimentary water and soft drinks all day long in the lounge, for the entire cruise. On the Magic-class ships, they give you a complimentary set of soft drinks when you first board, but you're on your own after that, and have to pay for any additional soft drinks you want delivered to your room. (I may be out of date on that – it may have changed. I'll know more after the EBPC as my DW and I are traveling concierge on that cruise.)

All told, you get more on the Dream-class ships, and pay more, too! But you can have a great experience on any of the four ships.

Enjoy!
Richard
