What common phrases do you hate?

There are a number of them. one that comes to mind is "mama bear"

when people say that, to me are they saying that they lose control of their ability to function as a rational human and deal with any problem with violence and raw aggression. Demoting themselves to a wild animal, incapable of rational human interaction. :confused3

bears acting like that in the wild are frequently put down.;)

its also so over used now that it has become a cliche.

That's very regional. Where I live, if you asked for soda you might get soda water which is non-flavored carbonated water, usually used as a mixer.

Where you live, soda might be 100% correct.

yep:) In Michigan soda is the plain clear stuff, used for a mixer.

One that I hate that is used here is Disney Apologist. Seems to be tossed out if you don't automatically agree that any change Disney makes is horrible.

So be it. (hate when people say so beith)
peeps
don't like to be called "gal"
when people spell "da" instead of "the"

The one that irritates me is "prolly" instead of "probably." Both written and spoken versions.

Hunker down is a term I hate. Also dislike the politically correct terms such as hearing impaired and vertically challenged. Sorry deaf and short suit me just fine.

Dang...remind me not to say anything to anyone ever...because I'm sure to bug someone!

I had two coworkers, one who would use the word "rape" as in: then the vendor will rape us on pricing.

The other coworker would use the word "hiney" as in someone's behind. I'm sorry that is just so "no-class".

Ummmm.....What is the "high class" alternative to hiney?

"It is what it is." Why even say that?

Yes! I swear I was going to post the exact same thing, word for word. My boss says this all of the time as a response to questions I really need help with! It's not a rhetorical question, I was looking for a real answer!

I'm not southern, and I don't use it myself, but if you are going to write, "y'all", at least write it correctly. I see it written "ya'll" all the time. Can't you see that the apostrophe takes the place of the missing vowels in "you"?
