Ok, I have a list of non-chain eateries for our Washington DC vacation in March but what chain restraunts can be found in and around the "tourist" areas???

TIA! :goodvibes

I don't recall any in the "Mall" area, but all the major chains can be found in the Arlington and Alexandria area.

ESPN Zone is a couple of blocks away from most of the major museums (I ate there last month and can't remember which museum we walked from, probably because I was just looking for warmth as quickly as possible :) ).

Also Hard Rock Cafe is on the same street as the theater (or just a block or so away) where Abraham Lincoln was shot (and they have a museum sort of thing set up in the theater which I really enjoy going to).

There are a lot of really good restaurants around D.C. Most I find from just wandering around and stopping in. One of my favorites is the Off The Record bar which is below the Hay Adams Hotel right across from the White House. I stayed at the Hay Adams a couple of years ago and had several yummy sandwiches at that place (it's very cozy and not like a loud, crazy bar). Many politicians go there to eat.

I was gonna say ESPN Zone too. We ate there. Pretty good I guess. Nothing extraodinary. Dh loved the huge tv screen and smaller tv screens around it that played every single freeking game on the tube. :lmao:I saw waitresses bringing drinks down by the giant tvs, I looked down from the platform that our table was on, uh...there were all kinds of people, presumably men sitting in what looked like recliners, watching the big screens:rolleyes:
Wouldn't that be nice for me if there were a big screen tv with a bunch of smaller screen tvs around it, playing my soapoperas and talkshows! How come a woman doesn't have a place like that!:lmao:

Sorry, I digressed....good place, but if your dh is into sports, don't expect for him to woow you with conversation.;)

I don't recall any other chain style restaurants. We did use the bathroom in a Subway.

Are you looking for something in particular? There are lots of restaurants sprinkled around the city, but not actually on the Mall. I recall seeing an Uno's in Georgetown, but there are tons of great places to eat down there.

google "restaurants + DuPont Circle". I a m pretty sure there are quite a few in that area: Fuddruckers, Buca, etc.. It is easy to get to on the Metro and a nice area to walk around.:)

Five Guys hamburgers, COSI (Panera kind of place), Gordon Biersch Brewery,
Chipotle are a few of our favorite chains that are located in DC as well.

There's a Hard Rock Cafe near the Verizon Center, but there's also Harry's around the corner. They give you Oreos with every platter!
