What are Your Thoughts on Nemo Show at AK.

WOW!

Just finished reading this thread and I am amazed at how many people do not like this show.
Some even think the pile of **** Tarzan Rocks was Better??????:confused3
The show is Long???:confused3 what do you people have ADD , your average kids movie is still an hour and 15 and 3 years olds have no problem watching them straight through.

Nemo the Musical is the absolute best stage production in all of WDW. To take a story and transform it into a musical with a 100% original score is no easy task and if you never saw the movie you wouldn't know it wasn't a musical.

I agree but kids are different anymore. They need the instant gratification and want to snipets of entertainment before going on to the next BIG thing. They flit. My sister and her family are like that. They always said that the kids couldn't sit thru any show. :confused3

They went on a Disney cruise years ago and they stopped by Kennedy Space Center on the way to cruise. They were at KSC for all of 45 min. and my sis said that they'd seen everything. She has scrapbook page of their visit to KSC. DH and I spent from 9 am until 4 pm there and still missed a few things.

We used to tease my BIL about his speed of operation. When they came to visit us in St. Louis, we'd take them to the zoo. They did the zoo in under 2 hrs.

We saw it last Nov b/c my mom really wanted to take the kids to see it. So we waited in line for a bit so we could easily get a seat with all of us together and then waited for another 20 or so for the show to start.

Well we were told to move over about 15 times and we were so crowded in the seats there was barely room to breathe. Now I am having very high expectations b/c I have heard many people rave about it (I should've asked here for myself ;) ) - it starts out cute, but about 10 min in, I begin to get very bored and feel myself starting to nod off. DS, who is a huge Nemo fan, is doing the best he can to walk over to me keeps asking to leave b/c he is bored out of his mind & and my girls keep looking everywhere in the theatre except the stage (like they are looking for the exits). By 15 min in DH is snoring his head off :rotfl:. By the time it was over all of us (except my mom) were so glad to be out of the theatre & moving again.

To put it simply - if it was looking like a big rain storm was coming and we wanted to escape it, would be the only reason why we would even consider going to the show again. In our opinion it was too long and just didn't seem to be up to par with the other shows.

we saw it last week and loved it - my kids are big Nemo fans - they are 6 and 4 and sat through it the whole time with no problems!!! it is a definate must do next year!!!

This show is so BORING!

The performers are average singers at best (The guy who sang "Go with the Flow" was flat out awful)

Festival of the Lion King in AK is about 50 times better.

If you have ever been to California Adventure at DL, The Aladdin Show (similar type of stage production) is a million times better.

The ONLY good thing about Finding Nemo the musical is that it is a "people eater". It takes tons of people out of the park for a bit so I can go to GOOD attractions much easier.

This is just my opinion......but after reading this post......seems like I'm not the only one who feels this way.

My husband cannot stand musicals and he LOVED this one! We both enjoyed it so much and cannot wait to see it again this June. I think they did a wonderful job on it!

I've only seen it once. I thought it was ok but i like FOTLK much more. I do not think that I will see Nemo very often.

How sadly true. But it's not just kids. I don't want to get off on a rant here, but basically anything that might be intellectually stimulating these days falls by the wayside because most kids (and a large share of younger adults) need a whiz-bang, in your face, loud noise, flashing light, sensory overload experience in order to be entertained. If it's not full of explosions and dazzling special effects, it must not be worth doing or seeing, right? Hence the many comments that this show "is soooooo boring." I'm sorry so many people just don't get it and can't seem to appreciate all the hard work and talent that goes into putting on a show like this. This entire country has a bad case of ADD these days.

We love Nemo. The show just made us love the movie even more.
When the theater was being built and we learned that it was going to be a Nemo stage show I was thrilled! I think the puppets are beautiful, the music is perfect for the characters and the length of the show is great for anyone at any age.
Guess everyone has different feeling about it...and that's OK.:goodvibes

This has been such an informative thread. I was definitely going to incorporate Nemo and the FOTLK into our AK schedule, but think I will scratch Nemo. If some of the adults find the show boring, it probably will not work with our 3 year old (who will be 4 at the time of our next trip). Just an observation from our last Disney trip... My 3 year old ds generally has an excellent attention span and focus for his age. My older son is the opposite, but this has improved with age. Anyways, the 3 year old has no problems sitting to watch a play or paying attention in preschool, etc. However, after experiencing a few of the rides at Disney, he wasn't as into the shows. He refused to sit during Turtle Talk with Crush and absolutely HATED the Muppets 3-D. I struggled to make him sit for the duration of Muppets, a short show. I felt like I was dealing with a different child, not mine. I think the lack of attention may be due to getting over-tired, but also then having the expectation that everything should be like the fast paced rides. Thanks to the original poster for the question and all the replies. I think we'll pick FOTLK this trip and hopefully see Nemo when my son is a little older.

To the pp, please remember that FOLTK is also a long show -not as long as Nemo, but if your son didn't want to sit through something like Muppets 3-D, FOLTK might be hard for him to sit through as well.

Also...this is from the Disney rumor mill, but it would probably make all the people who hate the Nemo show very happy -I was at AK a couple weeks ago and got into a discussion with a CM about the show, who told me that Disney is considering ending it, having felt like it has had a good run, and possibly bring another show to AK. No word on what that might be, or if and when that will actually happen.

Personally, I'd be heartbroken.

I absolutely LOVE Nemo the Musical! :worship:

Unfortunately, when we go in September our son will be too young to sit through the performance (he'll be 17 months at that time), but I'm going to find a way to see it! Odds are either my wife or my mother (her first trip to WDW!) will take him to the resort to nap while daddy gets his emotional lift :cloud9:

We loved the Nemo show. DW even liked it better than FOTLK and EVERYONE told us that FOTLK was the best show in AK.

In fact after seeing the Nemo show, we decided we probably should rent the Nemo movie that we have never seen.

My understanding is that FOTLK is 30 minutes. My point was that attention span is very situational. My son has a great attention span for his age 90% of the time, but if you factor in experiencing more short, thrilling rides and a long day at the park, attention span for anyone may waiver. Plus, we are going a year later. Even a couple months makes a different in child development. I appreciated the input on Nemo. It made me realize to pick one of the two shows to try and not to cram in too many shows. Although ds did not sit through Muppets and Crush, he loved Ellen's Energy Adventure. He sat quietly for the entire presentation and seemed very interested. Strange. Go figure!

However, FOTLK has sooooooo much action. There's always something going on, so I would think that it would hold a child's attention.

Thanks Rie's mom. :thumbsup2 That's good to know. It certainly looks lively and action packed from the previews I have seen. We'll definitely try it and maybe catch the Nemo show next trip if the venue doesn't change.

I, personally, am not a fan of the Nemo musical. It was decent I guess, but the actors distracted me and I could only focus on them, not the puppets lol.

Kind of like not being able to watch the football because of all of the distracting players in the way?

;)

Last May when we were there the line for this show was soooo long that we just skipped it, but this year we did it and didn't have to wait in a long line. My family of 5 loved it, (ok my 2.5yr old had a love/hate relationship with the show-most of it frightened her a little, but when it was time to clap after each set she'd look up smile and clap away like it was the best thing since sliced bread). It was sooo hot that day that we welcomed a 40min break smack dab in the middle of the day, esp. since we'd already did EE and dinosaur.

I came into work raving about it, so I'd recommend it.

T.
