I am so unhappy with all the competition shows every time I tune into Food Network. It seems like I don't learn anything from them.

I used to love the 30 minute Rachael Ray show. Looking for a new show.

I like to watch Valerie Bertenelli and Trisha Yearwood. They both tend to make "normal" dishes with "normal" ingredients. There are many times I"m watching a cooking show and never heard of half the stuff they are using. I think Food Network has jumped the shark and is more competition now instead of showing their viewers cooking methods. I actually would like a show where they take normal meals and dress them up some or show ways how to change it up.

My favorite has always been "The Barefoot Contessa" - Ina Garten, but I don't think she has had any new shows in a while. I like Ina. I think she is a wonderful cook and a good teacher. I also watch "The Pioneer Woman" - Ree Drummond occasionally. She's a good cook, too! My favorite competition show is "Chopped".

I don't usually like watching other people cook because I do enough of it myself. so my favorite cooking shows were always competition shows : ) I used to love Chopped and Cupcake Wars. But I did enjoy watching Alton Brown, America's Test Kitchen, and whatever that show was called that was hosted by Marc Summers. I like to hear the science and history behind the food.

I was thinking about this also. A lot of the regular cooking shows have gone away. Ina has not done anything in a very long time. Even Pioneer woman seems to have slowed down in doing new shows it seems. They have even now incorporated more of Diners,Drive ins and Dives on to the channel. And you can only watch so many reruns. I liked Alton Brown.

Ina had new shows this fall to promote her book " Cooking for Jeffery"
I like the Pioneer Women, Farmhouse Rules and The Kitchen
I do not mind Chopped but cannot stand that Food Network shows them for hours on end.

I love Paula Deen so mad they took her off.

I watch anything with Bobby Flay, Racheal Ray, Alton Brown. Robert Irvine.

Yeah, I kind of miss the old FN shows, loved 30 min meals, $40 a day, Paula Deen, Barefoot Contessa, Sandra Lee's semi homemade, every day italian.

Am not really a fan of all the new shows.

Top Chef. I've not missed a single episode since it's inception.

Yeah, I don't understand why so many cable networks have gone to this format of running the same show all evening; it's not just Food Network. Some of them even repeat the same episode every second or third hour...weird and I can't imagine it's actually good for viewership.

Bong Apétit on Viceland. The host (Abdullah) works with L.A.-area chefs to create a themed meal where all of the foods are infused with, well, draw your own conclusions. Last night was an episode about a Philippino Kamayan meal (where the food is communal and everyone eats with their hands), and now it is my mission in life to eat a Kamayan meal some time. Especially banana ribs; I don't even know what that is but it sounds so delicious I can't stand it.

I've lost interest in watching cooking shows. About 10 years ago I used to enjoy Rachael Ray's 30 Minute Meals, The Barefoot Contessa, Good Eats, Giada's Italian, and a few others.
