What Are You Reading Right Now?

I just picked up Promises in Death - J.D. Robb.

Just started and so far so good.

Those books are my secret guilty pleasure. They are like popcorn and when I start in I don't usually stop (except for like bathroom breaks and sleep, ya know!) until they are done! And it is sitting in my 'to read' pile right now!

I am currently reading Blood Rites by Jim Butcher in the Dresden Files series. I am enjoying the male dominated stories for a change.

And in the above theme, I am currently reading the most recent Dresden novel Turncoat. In fact, last night I went to a book signing with Jim Butcher. He's pretty cool.

Being a full-time student doesn't leave me much time for reading for fun (I've got a stack accumulating for summer), but sometimes assigned readings are really good. I am reading "The Once and Future King" by T.H. White. It is great-a version of King Arthur and the kinghts of the Round Table.

I read that in high school. It was good!

So glad to see other Jim Butcher fans here! I actually have small favor in hardback, waiting for the perfect moment to read it (I've had it since the day it came out). I hoard his books since I tend to read them cover to cover in one sitting. I'm waiting till Turn Coat drops in price on the Kindle to $9.99 to buy it, usually that happens a few weeks after release, or it did with Corsair by Clive Cussler. I hate to purchase and then the price drops dramatically. I also have a bunch of stuff on my Kindle to read right now, so I'm waiting till I clear some of it off. I really hate that they dropped the ball on the Dresden Files series, it was fun while it lasted and introduced his work to a lot of people (me included).

I'm reading several things at once.

I started Dead Witch Walking but it wasn't really holding my attention. I switched to Dark Lover from the Black Dagger Brotherhood series and I'm totally hooked. I just finished the second book and I'm waiting for 3 and 4 to be turned back in at the library. This is probably a series I will end up purchasing.

I read Guilty Pleasures in the Anita Blake series and it was pretty good. I am waiting for the second book in that series to be turned back in as well.

I started Storm Front from the Dresden Files and will read it in between the other two series above.

I don't typically read several things at once but I started the different series and can't wait that long to find out what happens next so I keep switching off.

Oh I'm also re-reading the Sookie Stackhouse books. I'm reading the second to last one now so I should finish close enough to the next release date to remember what happened.

Oh, you so sound like me! I purchased Dead With Walking a a couple of others by Kim Harrison and could not get into them. I read the first three or so Anita Blakes, then got grossed out and quit. Devoured all of the Sookie Stackhouse books, as well as two otehr series by the same author, and as I mentioned above, I ration my Dresden books! Right nowI am on a HEather Graham kick, she's pretty good, romantic suspense with supernatural overtones (think "I see dead people"). Next up for me after I finish all of the Graham novels I have synced to my Kindle will be Corsair by Clive Cussler. Then I'll probably try one of Harry Turtledove's alternate world type books (the south won the Civil War, yada yada yada). It was a freebie from Kindle .

We need to talk about Kevin - Lionel Shriver.

Im finding it very hard going tho !!

I actually liked this book. But it was more around the time when school shootings seemed to be happening everyday. A sad story.

This was a very memorable book. I thought it was really good. However, I did find the writing style a little hard to get into. Stick with it though. It is one of those books that make you think for a long time.

I've read the whole Black Dagger Brotherhood. I loved those books and am anxiously awaiting the new one to come out - I think next month.

Also, a big Sookie fan. Maybe that's the new one coming out next month. I can't remember. Too many vampires on my brain. :rotfl2:

The next BDB is April 28th. I saw that yesterday.

The next Sookie (Dead and Gone) is May 5th.

I've started reading the Warriors series again. They're by Erin Hunter. I'm on Power of Three: The Sight.

"Joker One" by Donovan Campbell
This is a non-fiction account of military brotherhood during one of the bloodiest periods of the conflict in Iraq. The author is extremely engaging and insightful. A totally worthwhile read.
