Isn't that such a great book! I recommend it to everyone. Might even re-read it myself.

I finally broke down and started the Hunger Games series. Thought the first one started off slow but then I couldn't put it down. Read Catching Fire and again, I thought it started off slow but once it got going it was so good, and again hard to put down. Now I'm on Mockingjay and I could read it all the way through in one sitting if I could.

Not sure what's next yet.

I agree about the Hunger Games series. I've already got plans to see the movie, though I'm a little nervous about how it'll translate. I borrowed the books from the library, but I think I'm going to buy them for my own.

I just finished the first in the Hunger Games series. Read the whole thing on Sunday ...I just couldn't put it down. I just started Catching Fire and I'm about half way through. Have to work this week so I can't read it all at once. I can't wait to finish and start Mockingjay.

I too want to see the moive though I'm also a little nervous as to weather or not it will do the books justice. We shall see.

I finished "The Romanov Prophecy" and REALLY enjoyed it! I love thrillers like that, and this was very well done! If you have any interest in the whole "did Anastasia really die" conspiracy theory, you should totally read this book! Very well written!!!

Now I'm reading a YA book called "Palace Beautiful". My 9 year old recommended it to me. It's ok, but definitely not a piece of "hard literature."

After that, I either need to choose something from my pile on the night stand, or get to the library to pick up my holds. If I go with the night stand, it will be "Stones Into Schools" by Greg Mortensen, and if I go with the library it will be "Salem Falls" by Jodi Piccoult.

Forgot to mention that I have my tickets for "The Hunger Games" on opening day. I don't usually go to opening days, but my book club is going together. I'm excited, but really nervous. I'm just not sure about this movie. From the previews, it looks ok, but not WOW! Guess we'll all just have to wait and see.

I've been putting off Hunger Games because I thought it might be too juvenile but after reading here I'll think I'll pick it up next.

Great suggestions here!

I just finished reading "Divine Evil" by Nora Roberts. It was decent. Surprising twist at the very end though.

I just started "The Hobbit" this morning. As soon as I finish that I'm off to read "The Night Circus". Then I'm not sure what's next.

Thank you to everyone who recommended Confessions of a Prairie ***** by Alison Arngrim. I am really enjoying it! Next up for me is The Tower Menagerie by Daniel Hahn.
I'm really wanting to read Alison's book. Glad to hear that you like it.

Since I read Bonnie, I've read Christmas at Cheseapeake Shores and am in the middle of Driftwood Cottage. Both are by Sherryl Woods.

I joined a newly formed book club last week. Any book recommendations from those of you that are in a book club? None of us have ever been in a book club before. The first book we're reading is Time Is A River by Mary Alice Monroe.

I LOVED The Night Circus. It was the best book I have read in a long time.

I  LOVE  The Hobbit - one of my favorite books of all time!

I have read it and re-read it many times.

I have 4 more books waiting to be read after I finish this one and then I want to read The Hunger Games, lots of people on here seem to have been enjoying it and I saw some people on facebook post about it too so I want to check it out. I had never heard of it before.

I saw the movie ad for Hunger Games and remembered that I had the book on my kindle so I decided to read it last Wednesday. Last night (less than 1 week later) I finished the third book, LOL. OMG, I could not put my kindle down :thumbsup2 Thank goodness for Amazon because as soon as I finished the first one, I knew I couldn't wait for the second and I downloaded it immediately and got started.

I really enjoyed Alison's book. I also enjoyed Melissa Gilbert's as well.

Is the movie supposed to just follow the first book? I'm scared it will leave me hanging like the first book did and then I will have to wait, oh so impatiently, for the next to come out :rotfl2: That isn't going to stop me from seeing it though, LOL.

Yes, I read that the movie just follows the first book. I don't like that and didn't like how that one left off. IMO, the books are short enough that they could have made one really good movie with all three books.

I would love to read Melissa Sue Anderson's story!

I heard The Hunger Games series was going to be made into four movies: one for each of the first two books and two for the last book.

I haven't been on in awhile, I've been super busy lately. I also recently read The Hunger Games and enjoyed it. I'm waiting for the 2nd book to come in for me at the library, the wait list is really long. I do plan on seeing the movie, I've already told DH he is taking me.

I also wanted to recommend a good book that I'm almost done with. It's Unbroken by Laura Hillenbrand. It's been a terrific book, I highly recommend!!

I am still in the Anne of Green Gables series with Anne of Ingleside almost done but I found out that Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children is $3.99 on the Kindle! I bought Charlotte Au Chocolat: Memories of a Restaurant Girlhood last week and will start on that after the series is over.

I should have figured they would do that :rotfl2:

Oh well, I'll survive the wait between movies, LOL. Thanks for the info!

Yay, I was on a DIS hiatus and I missed lurking on this thread! ;)

For light-hearted mystery and recipes, the Joanne Fluke Hannah Swensen series... So far all the recipes I've tried have been a hit, and the books are a fun vacation read! :goodvibes

I'm 2/3rds the way through with Time Is A River. It's pretty good, will make a good discussion at our next book club meeting.

It's about a woman who had a masectomy and her coming to terms with herself, her body and the breakup of her marriage.
