A friend recommended The Demon Under the Microscope. Its about the hunt for antibiotics. I'm enjoying it. I think we really take for granted how available antibiotics are now. Life was much harder before when a blister could cause you to die in five days, like Calvin Coolidge's son. I'm on the long list at the library for The Help.

I just finished My Name is Memory by Ann Brashares. It was really good but the end left me frustrated. I heard rumors that it is the first in a series and if that's true, I'm okay with the end.

I'm reading Savor the Moment, the third in Nora Robert's bride quartet series. It's cute. I find it's good to read light and fluffy in between the emotional books.

The only good thing about Angelou's book is that I'm almost finished with it.
That's just about how I feel about the book I'm reading now. It's called North River.

I found it on the discount rack at Borders. It's just a mundane book & doing nothing for me. Set in NYC during the Great Depression.

I'm trudging my way through it because I'm determined to finish. I keep thinking that something has to happen soon!

Okay I am now starting Book 8 of the True Blood, Sookie series.

The series has grown on me, however I am starting to get the distinct feeling there is no end to this story. :rotfl: I will need closure of some sort. Sookie needs to decide who she is going to fall in love with soon or I will go nutty.

I bought the Handmaids Tale for when this series is finished, or I get bored.

Thanks to everyone who recommended "The Book Thief". I thought it was a fascinating read though it took me a couple of chapters to get the gyst of the style. I sobbed through the entire last few chapters. I was on a plane and had to keep putting the book away to get over it because I couldn't stop crying. But then, I couldn't wait to read more, so I'd pick it up again and start crying again. I have thought of it at least a couple of times every day since I read it. The characters were so endearing, and it is so refreshing to read something that is unique in both style and tone.

I have about 6 chapters left of the biography, Oprah. I have enjoyed the book. I think it's well written, factual. Lots of interviews from Oprah over the years (she did not contribute a current interview for the book), family, friends, and associates. One aspect I have found entertaining is the historical component of talk shows and the times in general. I remember a number of the shows and events that are referenced. It's an interesting read.

Picking up the new Sookie Stackhouse from the library tommorow!

I just purchased "The Red Pyramid." I'm hoping it's as good as the Percy Jackson series. My 10 year old son loved those books, so I'm hoping this new series will keep him excited about reading! Has anyone here read it, yet?

I finished Path of Daggers and popped right into Winter's Heart Books 8 and 9 of the Wheel of Time series by Robert Jordan.

I too feel like Sookie Stackhouse series is too long. I enjoyed reading Dead in the Family but I want closure too. LOL

I am thinking about getting The Red Pyramid too. I try to read some of the same books my boys do so that we can discuss them.

I finally finished "The Girl Who Played with Fire." It took me a MONTH to read it as I have alot going on right now. I didn't like it as much as "Dragon Tattoo."

I just started "The Lost Symbol" by Dan Brown.

I just adored that book. It stayed with me for quite a while.

I finished Cutting For Stone by Abraham Verghese.
Good story, great characters, didn't care for all the medical lingo, there's way too much of it.
I just started Those Who Save Us by Jenna Blum.
Good story so far.

Hannah's List by Debbie Macomber. Its her newest book.

The Battle of the Queens by Jean Plaidy. It's part of her Plantagent series.

I just started Mountains Beyond Mountains by Tracy Kidder. My minister Tim describes it like this:
“Mountains Beyond Mountains” tells the inspiring and human story of Dr. Paul Farmer, and his crusade to bring healthcare to Haiti and other forgotten corners of the globe. It is a deeply human story. It reveals the depth of poverty in Haiti, and opens our eyes to the need for equal access to medical care for all. It is a world-changing book, grounded in some deeply moving accounts of the heroic women and men who work hard to heal the world.

Started Water for Elephants last night. Only got about 20 or so pages in, but it sounds like it's going to be a really good book.

I'm reading "Before I fall" by Lauren Oliver. It's due back at the library this Friday so I'm trying to get through it! I read a little bit during DD nap times and a little at night. I'm used to finishing a book in a day or two. Man, I miss that! After this I'm going to read the Hunger Games as I have heard so many good things about it
