I have been on a reading spree!

I finished this week The Handmaid's Tale, The Girl Who Chased The Moon and Sarah's Key.

I liked all of them for different reasons. The Girl Who Chased The Moon was a nice easy yet at times interesting story. Relaxing read.

The Handmaid's Tale took me a bit to get into especially comming off of reading the True Blood Series but I did get into it and then I couldn't put it down. The figurative language in this book was incredible.

Sarah's Key was great. I finished it up in one day. I was borrowing it so I knew it was a very sad book. I think I was mentally prepared because it didn't hit me as hard as the The Book Thief. I had to find out what happened in the story and just needed to finish it. I was up to 2am last night.

Next up is a book I found in my bookshelf that I guess I forgot to read. It is a memoir The Color of Water by James McBride. I read the first 2 chapters yesterday when I found it. I didn't want to put it down. It seems to be such an interesting story and reads like a work of fiction but isn't. It is about a white jewish woman(the authors Mother) in the Red Hook Projects of Brooklyn during the 60's. She married 2 different black men in her life, and had 12 children. Her story is juxtaposed with her son's point of view. I can't wait to read it.

I loved this book!!! What an amazing woman, and what amazing children she raised!!!

I'm reading Glazed Murder, a cozy mystery about a donut shop owner by a new author, Jessica Beck. I'm really enjoying it.

I am getting ready to start reading 8 Days to Live by Iris Johansen.

I am still working my way through Change of Heart by Jodi Picoult. But I have 3 new books to read (love it when I've got books lined up ;))

How Not to Murder Your Mother by Stephanie Calman - I have skimmed the first page of this and it sounds just like me and my Mother so should be good :)
Losing You by Nicci French
The Last Song by Nicholas Sparks

I thought that particular book got a little convoluted. I liked, Plain Truth, better. I'm interested in what you think of the ending of Change of Heart. I'll reserve my thoughts till then. :)

I just started I Know This Much is True by Wally Lamb - its pretty interesting so far

Great! I always like to read books with food put in the theme.

I enjoy reading her books. I'll have to look that one up.

I finished Summer On Blossom Street by Debbie Macomber today. It was a good quick read, just right for the pool side or beach. I enjoyed reading it and look forward to the next book in the series Hannah' List.

I just started reading World Without End by Ken Follett, the sequel to Pillars of the Earth (which I loved). I am loving the sequel so far, too.

Next up is Women, Food, and God.

I'm hoping it's not twisted like the ending to Handle With Care - I hated the way she ended that story, it made me cry with the unfairness of it all (apologies if you've not read it :guilty:)

I just finished Tully. I really enjoyed it. Have any of you ever read it?

I'm currently reading The Pilot's Wife by Anita Shreve. So sad but it's very good.

I really enjoyed Plain Truth. I thought that Change of Heart actually dragged & I wasn't a huge fan of the story.

Most recent book of hers that read was Handle With Care. Also not a fan of the ending. It could have ended so many other ways.

It was a little much for me. I can suspend reality with the best of them, but I didn't care for the story (Change of Heart). I wanted to like it. :upsidedow

Well, I finally finished Change of Heart yesterday and can't say that I really enjoyed it that much. The thing I find with Jodi Picolut is some of her books I can relate to and others I can't - it's almost as if she has two different writing styles.

Have just started reading How not to Murder your Mother. Despite thinking I was going to enjoy it, I suspect the first paragraph was probably the best of the whole book. I will reserve judgement though as I'm only about a quarter of the way through.

emer95- I read Tully, but it was so long ago that I hardly remember what it was about. I remember the cover, though. Was it about the college girl that was murdered?

I am strating The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo. It is taking me some time to get into, but I also have not had a lot or reading time in the last few days, so it's been a bit here and there.

Finished up Color of Water last night and I loved it. What a great a story.

I just downloaded The Thirteenth Tale which has great reader reviews at Barnes and Noble.

The Thirteenth Tale was very interesting. I hope you like it as much as I did.
