This past week I finished I'd Know You Anywhere by Laura Lippman. Got a great review in The Washington Post. I thought it was good--nothing spectactular. But I good story that will hold your interest.

I also finished Room. Forgot the author's name. Very good, kind of disturbing, fairly good ending. It's written from the perspective of a 5 year old boy who has been held captive, along with his mother, in a 12x12 shed-converted-to-fortress. Very unique writing style and story.

Gone With the Wind is my absolute favorite book EVER! It's also my favorite movie, too. Which is odd, since I usually hate movies that tamper with my favorite characters!

I promised my DD that we're going to get the movie from the library so we can both watch it. It's been years since I've seen it and I really don't remember what was different from the book.

I'd be interested to hear what you think with both the book and the movie so fresh on your mind!

I recently read Journey to the River Sea by Eva Ibbotson. It's a book written for ages 10-14 (or so) but I loved it. If you like good, well-written children's lit, I recommend it. It would be great to read with your kids, full of adventure and weird relatives!

Right now I'm reading Club Dead by Charlaine Harris. I'm having a hard time getting going with it. I'm not sure I'm in the right frame of mind right now to hang with Sookie and Bill.

Just finished Clara's War by Clara Kramer and Stephen Glantz. Haunting true story of 18 Polish Jews hid in an underground bunker. The few pics in the book made it so much more real.

Started Room by Emma Donoghue.

I finished Tami Hoag's Kill The Messanger. It had me going till almost the very end. I can usually pick out the bad guys but not in this one.

Next on the stack, Sweet Talk by Susan Mallery.

I love that Susan Mallery series, the Bakery Girs, but then I love all Susan Mallery books. They're always so romantic and dependable.

I'm looking forward to reading this book. I've seen her mentioned quite a bit.

I finished "Blind Submission" which I kind of liked. It was like "The Devil Wears Prada" only a bit on the dark side. After that, I read "The Overlook", a good mystery with a lot of political relevance, however, it was still a fluff book. After that I read "The Boy in the Striped Pajamas". This book hit me right between the eyes! I just saw a performance of "The Diary of Ann Frank", and this really hit close to my heart!

After all that, I needed some lighter reading, so I picked up Sarah Strohmeyer's "The Cinderella Pact." Just the ticket. Definitely a light read!

Next up, "Mockingjay" again. I need to refresh my memory before book club next Thursday.

:eek::eek::sick:

I finished Between Sisters by Kristin Hannah.
I didn't really think it was that good.
I loved her Winter Garden though.

Next up: The Reader by Bernhard Schlink and
My Name is Mary Sutter by Robin Oliveira

Did you like "The Reader"? I got half way thru it and I had to put it down...didnt like it AT ALL!!!

Has anyone here read Jodi Picoult's newest, Keeping the Faith (or something similar)? If so, how was it? I saw it at Borders over the weekend and it looked interesting.

"Keeping The Faith" was another I couldnt finish...I LOVE LOVE LOVE Joid Piccoult and have ready every book except this one, let me know if you like it

I liked The Reader, I didn't love it.

Right now I'm in the middle of One Thousand White Women by Jim Fergus.

Just about anything - I usually alternate fiction and non-fiction. I just finished the Imagineer's Guide to Epcot, so, technically, it's time for fiction, but I'm open to either.
I recommend then to start at the beginning of this thread and read through the comments to find a book. There are a lot of good books and authors mentioned.

Today I will start Hotel On The Corner Of Bitter And Sweet for my book club.
