I booked April MHT-MCO and gagged on the points...I actually booked a connecting flight in BWI (yuck) at 22K vs 45K points. MCO-MHT in May is much "cheaper" as I think it was about 16K each ticket. I didn't pay extra for seats and got 17 and 21. I always have early boarding with my walking and other disabilities, so we'll see if they honor this. Not sure why not since we are not taking (nor have we ever) good seats. We typically sit toward the back anyway. I did not buy Basic as I was afraid it would be a hassle to change if (hopefully) the points go down.

I don’t think I would be pulling the trigger on this if it launches unless there is an incredible welcome offer. I have too many other cards that I find value to put spend on.

I likely would not get either and stick with my Reserve. Lounge access when flying a no frill airline doesn’t appeal to me. No frill to me is when I can take a quick flight somewhere. I wouldn’t care about a lounge stop. Whereas when I use the lounge today it is with long haul business or pleasure flights when I need a break, a place to work, etc. Even then, with always flying in the higher classes available, I would argue the Delta experience is pretty blah anyways but at least nowhere near SWA.

I saw that yesterday, their price point is too high for their product. I don't know what Southwest is thinking but they keep trying to make themselves like other airlines but they still don't have the product to match and trying to mimic what other airlines or CCs have doesn't actually mean they would have the product to match, the product in this case is their entire actual airline experience while on the plane like different actual seats (not just talking about leg room), meal service, other amenities while on the plane (other than a drink) all the while charging a lot for the actual ticket.

It would be literally insane to charge $650 for a SWA CC and yet not allow the primary CC holder a guest (speaking to this part "Southwest lounges with unlimited complimentary access for the primary cardmember with complimentary food and drinks, wifi, and power outlets")

That said in lounges if they are really interested in it I kinda think they should look at airports that don't have a big presence in lounges and are also SWA dominant heavy ones to really get an idea of the interest on that since it would be available to a subset of passengers before they just start having lounges all over. The lounge game is crowded and SWA doesn't have the more upscale experience yet.

This! Their greatest strength and what made them an attractive choice for so many travelers...was that they were different than all the other airlines.

The decisions they have been making for a long time now - and not just since they had to capitulate to Elliott, although that made it much worse - certainly have been head-scratchers.

We fly out10/18 and I got a weird email from Southwest offering flight changes for a $20 luv voucher and no cost difference. It day early bird would be forfeited (among other things). It offered links to flights same day and day before. I checked online and I could still purchase 9 tickets for that flight so it isn’t sold out. It is the same cost as some of the other offered flights so I assume they are similarly sold number. Anyone ever got this? I definitely am not doing it and am wondering what’s up with it

Exactly! That's the first thing I noticed, too. Oh, yeah, I can see it now-"I'll see you at the gate, dear. I'm just going to the lounge to rest and get some free food." Sorry, that ain't happening!

Also, I was shocked at prices. I can’t find much under $300 (one way) for BWI to LAS. Is this the new normal?

Yes it seems to be. I was able to get First Class on Delta for cheaper than SW on my return flight from MCO

I've only booked a one-way flight for February so far. I booked Choice because I wanted to select my seat. And I wanted to take advantage of the one-year expiration date for travel funds. But with the high prices and the expiration dates for travel funds, I won't be buying tickets too soon.

Not sure what date @The Mayor 's flight is but the other poster mentioned 10/18. Are people seeing an aircraft change by any chance like going from a flight that has 175 seats down to one that has 143 seats? What are the routes for these e-mail offers?

Also it might be helpful to know when the tickets were purchased.

I hope this is in the right place. I have a question about a booking. I did with a Southwest flight credit prior to March 18, 2025. I now find I have to cancel the flight. Will my flight credit be returned to unlimited use time or will I be required now to use it within six months to a year? TIA

Not sure what date @The Mayor 's flight is but the other poster mentioned 10/18. Are people seeing an aircraft change by any chance like going from a flight that has 175 seats down to one that has 143 seats? What are the routes for these e-mail offers?

Also it might be helpful to know when the tickets were purchased.

That's what I thought. It is a pretty crappy offer and we didn't even consider taking it.

We're flying on this Friday 10/17, Boston to Nashville. I checked and all categories on the website are "Unavailable". So I'm guessing they overbooked. Purchased the flight in May before the rule changes.

They don't overbook flights. But they can have situations like an aircraft change thus reducing the number of seats or issues with weight that could mean they request to have some passengers take another flight.

Unavailable is also used by SWA when they want to do schedule changes or other changes and want to block passengers from booking that flight. It can mean that it's a full flight but it also has been used heavily by SWA to prevent a flight from having changes done to it by passengers (like booking or switching to that one) while they are doing stuff in the background. In some cases it means they are canceling (and I'm NOT saying that's what it is just saying that has happened in the past) that flight but normally it seems like that was done for flights a decent amount in the future rather than 5 days from now.

Your flight being 10/17 and the other poster being 10/18 is either a weird coincidence or something up.
