My mom lives in FL and MIL live in NY and we will not be seeing either of them for Mother's Day.
To appreciate what we are doing for Mother's Day here, a likktle background is necessary. Last year DH apparently did not have anything planned for Mother's Day (he did get me a nice card) DS and I were in the living room watching the NBA. Finally DH says something like what should we have for dinner. The thought crosses his mind that maybe he should take care of dinner so he went to the kitchen and prepared his specialty--envelope soup! At least that is what we call it at my house. It is the freeze dried stuff in an envelope that you add to 3 cups of boiling water.
Fast forward to 3 or 4 months ago. We are at the home of our dear friends and I tell the story of envelope soup for Mother's Day. They got a great laugh out of the story, particularly when I said we had grilled cheese with the envelope soup and DH reminded me that I made the grilled cheese. It will take quite a while for DH to live this one down.
Anyway, this Mother's Day, my friend has recruited/strongarmed DH and DS into cooking dinner for me and his wife and mother and mother in law. I know it will be a great time. Though I don't think my friend will be quite prepared for just how handicapped my DH is in the kitchen. I am not worried, though. My friend just won an award for his cooking at an event we attended over the weekend.
