What are some of your personal “rules” that you never break ?

I follow religiously:
no littering
no parking in the handicapped space
no drinking and driving

I try really hard to follow:
no arguing in public

But I do believe:
it's 5:00 somewhere, and
we should do away with the rule about not wearing white before Memorial day or after Labor Day!

I never look at my phone or use my phone while I'm driving. Ever. Even when my momma was dying and I was trying to get there in time (I had been there 14 hours the day before and most of the week leading up to that day). My phone rang and I couldn't find a place to pull over, and then I received a text and I knew in my heart what it said.

No drinking and driving, and no riding with a driver who has been drinking, no exceptions.

Adultery.
Murder.
Parked in a handicap space unless my mom was with me (she has a placard).

Umm... there's got to be others. I just can' think.

I believe in letting people speak. I see so often that people give their opinions and then people who don't agree slam them. I enjoy hearing opinions and I don't care if it comes from celebrities or joe blow from down the street. It's all good.

I also believe in tolerance. Even those with horrible views can change and are more likely to do so if treated with respect. Of course there are limits.
Agree. It drives me nuts when I'm watching a news show and they start yelling over each other. You would think they would realize their on tv and they look like idiots.

I'll always continue to learn. I guess my biggest rule would be to keep an open mind and be willing to bend and change.

I never, never, ever drink alcohol prior to going to church. (Usually go on Saturday evening.).

Now-I have no issue having an adult beverage after church, but never before.

What, you don't want to smell like a distillery during the services?

#1 Always wear a seat belt while in a car
#2 No parking in a handicapped spot
#3 No looking at my phone while driving
#4 No trashing a store while shopping. If I need a shirt near the bottom of a pile, I don't yank it out and make a giant mess. I also take any clothes I try on back out of the fitting room.
#5 No littering.

Im not going to list things which are really just abiding by the law (no drinking and driving or illegally parking in the disabled spaces, etc)

Personal rules:

Use a racial/sexist/homophobic/transphobic slur in my home, I will call you out on it and explain tht it is not welcome in my home. Do it a second time and I will ask you to leave and you re not invited back. I'd rather be uncomfortable confronting that sort of thing than complicit by letting it slide.

Always unpack as soon as I return home---quick trip to the bathroom is the only thing that might happen first.

Always thank the flight crew---and treat them politely

Make an effort to enjoy the little things in life and find more joy than not

The only thing I can think of that I would never break, no matter what, is family always comes first. We do whatever we can to help our kids whether that means helping them move, building fences, taking care of their animals or loaning money. If we can do it, we do. But our rule for them is that their spouse and kids come before us, always.

Oh and physically go and look at the stove before leaving the house to make sure it’s off. House burned down from oil left on the stove. If I don’t go and look at it, I am just going to turn around and go back anyway so now I don’t break the rule.

*1 drink = no driving period.
*Clean house right before vacation.
*Living room light always on a timer.
*I won't go run errands unaccompanied after dark.
*When in doubt throw it out.
