Let's continue with the TR shall we??
Day #6 (Friday) Part 3
It was hot outside the restaurant. Fortunately, we were able to get seated by 1:30pm, 10 minutes before our reservation. I wasn't sure what to expect because this is my first time to eat at Coral Reef. Once I walked into the main dining room, my jaw just dropped to the floor. I did saw some photos on the web to see how the restaurant look but seeing it in real person is a whole different perspective.
The entire dining room is facing one way, towards this gigantic fish tank. The viewing area of the tank was separated onto 3 sections. The dining room basically has 3 long aisles and each aisle is on different level very much like a movie theater. On the lowest level, there's another row of tables that was right in front of the fish tank. The CM took us to the lowest level aisle which is only a few feet away from the tank. I was very happy with the seating arrangement. If we were sitting right next to the tank, that would've been too close for us. Unfortunately, I was all shock & awe as soon as I walk in, totally forgot to take any pictures of the restaurant. Beside, the restaurant was fairly dark. There were only spot light on top of every table. Very hard to take any pictures. If you use flash, there will be way too much reflection.
In any event, I was very thirsty from sitting under the sun for a while, more so than hungry. As soon as the CM come take our order, I ordered a Lava Smoothie immediately.
I can't quite remember what kind of fruit was in the smoothie (probably Strawberry) but I can assure you it was very good, very berry and very tasty. DW had a Sour Apple Freeze.
For appetizer, I have Seared Sea Scallops - served with a Cauliflower foam and black Truffle Vinaigrette.
DW has the Sea and Land - grilled shrimp with cucumber salad and barbecued beef skewer with creamy polenta.
Both appetizer were very good. While we were eating, I can not kept my eyes off from the tank. Every time when a Sting Ray swam by, I have to stop and took a few pictures.
When the shark swam by, I stopped again and took more pictures.
However, whenever I stop and took pictures, my fork would fell on to the floor. I thought I was just being clumsy. Then DW point out to me the plate was like a boat shape, pointy on both side and curve up. Therefore, every time I put my fork down onto the plate, it slide off from the curve and fell onto my lap then onto the floor. For a second, I thought I was drunk but I swear I didn't even drink. Never even realize the weird shape of the plate until DW pointed that out to me. Duh!!
I was so mesmerize from watching the tank, I could careless about the dirty fork and ask for a clean one. I just wiped it with my napkin and keep on eating. I thought it was so cool to watch the fish, sharks and sting ray swam by until I saw the sea turtle. That thing was "gianormous". As soon as I spotted him swam by, my jaw just dropped onto the floor and he was fast too. It took a few tried to get a picture of the sea turtle and he doesn't swam by my side of the tank that often.
After all the excitement with the sea turtle, the main course was finally here. I had red meat again. Grilled New York Strip Steak served with roasted potatoes, watercress and tomatoes tossed in caramelized. Very nice!!!
DW had the Lobster salad on a toasted baquette with a cup of lobster soup. Ummm...spectacular and very creative.
For dessert, I have the Bailey's and Jack Daniel Mousse topped with a ganache and chocolate cigar. The liquor taste on this one was very strong and the chocolate was very rich as well. I only wish I have room to eat a few more of this. If any one loves chocolate and doesn't mind the whisky taste, then this dessert is a MUST have.
DW has the Chocolate wave served with raspberries. Basically, it's a chocolate cake with raspberries and raspberry sauce. DW was digging this one too. It's not too big but yet satisfying.
I thought the Coral Reef lunch was out of this world and a marvelous experience, IMO. I get to see the fish and the food was fantastic as well. Toward the end of our lunch, I was still trying to take more picture of the tank even thought I know it won't comes out that great. There was a family (mother & father with 2 kids) who sat directly in front of our table which basically is right next to the tank. The father saw me trying to keep taking picture of the tank. He offered me his seat so I can take some close up pictures. That was very nice of him. However, I politely decline his offer because even next to the tank, my equipment just won't able to get good picture of the fish. It was a nice gesture though.
By now, I was about to ask for a
scooter to wheel myself out of the restaurant. I think I probably gained more than 10 lbs by now after more than 5 days of TS DxD plus snacks without missing a beat. We belonged to the clean plate club. Not once we did not finish any of our food. So we signed our check and head on out for more ride. We need the walk anyway. However, my left foot pokeyness was feeling a little worse. Nonetheless, I ignored it and continue our way. Next stop...Soarin'
