Day #6 (Friday) Part 1
Today is Friday 13th and let the search of my wallet begins. We have breakfast ADR at Kona Cafe again @ 9:00am. this morning. So I got up at 7:30am. and took my morning shower. After a good night rest, I felt a lot better. While DW was getting ready, I took my camera gear and head over to the hallway for a few quick frames to take advantage of the daylight. I just want to do something to keep last night's wallet incident off my mind.
It was really weird to be able to see both side of the hallway at the same time in my Fisheye lens. LOL...
After my quick session, I went back to the room and DW was ready. Since we were still early from our breakfast ADR at PR, we stop by the concierge desk to see what can we do to look for my wallet. Guess who was at the concierge desk. It was the same CM who struggle picking up my camera bag UPS package a few days ago.

She was just as pleasant as always and ask us what can she do to help us. We explained to her what happened last night about the wallet. She told us Disney do has a lost & found department. I thought "Oh My Goodness", LOST & FOUND DEPARTMENT!!! WOW!! I guess with a couple of hundred thousand of guests comes into the park every day. You do need a department to handle lost & found. She said, everyday when CM found any guest's personal item, they will route the item to the lost & found department at the end of the day. There is a central number we can called and see if they have it. (Personally, I am not having my hope up but at least I have to put in some effort even if it's a shot in the dark.)
The CM was very very helpful. First she called the DHS gift shop but couldn't get any one on the phone because the shop wasn't open yet. She then called the lost & found department but again, it was still early so they are not sure they have it yet. So the CM gave us the central number to call and we can check with them later any time. Or...if we go to any park, we can just go to guest relation and they can check it for us as well.
After that, we head right to the boat dock. Temperature was still on the cool side but the sky was beautiful, clear and blue.
I can always count on the morning boat ride to help me forget my somewhat unhappy evening from last night. Within no time, we arrived CR and switched over to the monorail. By the time we got to PR, it 9:00am right on the money. Kona Cafe was already getting crowd. Nonetheless, the CM has no trouble getting us a table and got us seated right away.
Once we sat down, we don't even need to look at the menu because we knew exactly what we want for breakfast, the legendary "Tonka Toast". We've been waiting to try this for a very long time. However, it took a while for our waitress to come serve us so we waited patiently. Then we notice there were two tables around us had the same waitress running around like a lunatic. One table has 3 older ladies. The other has a small group of people like 6 or 7 people. Both table were asking for one thing after another. The poor waitress just keep running back and forth to get them whatever they ask for. In between, she would pause at our table and apologize for the delay to take care of us. We told her it's no big deal and we understand. We were not in any hurry any way.
So after about 10 minutes, the waitress was finally able to come take our order. Since I miscalculated our dinner point, I decide to pay this breakfast from my own pocket so tomorrow's lunch can be pay with dining point. This will minimize our out of pocket expense because l estimate lunch will cost a lot more than breakfast. I told you I am a tight wart.

Therefore, I forgo my morning ritual "smoothie"

, instead I only have a cup of hot coffee and so was DW. For breakfast, we both have the "Tonka Toast" except DW has ham to go with it and mine has sausage. Even after the waitress took our order, she still apologize how late she was to get to us. I quietly said to her "It's okay. I was a waiter for a few years when I was much younger. I know exactly how some customer can be more difficult to serve than the others." She was so happy I can relate to her frustration that morning but not sure if that's necessary a good idea for me to told her I was a waiter before.
By the time the waitress brought us our coffee, the two tables next to us has paid and left. The table with small group of people left with a big mess. It took them some effort to clean up the table. Once the waitress brought over our breakfast, I was floored to see how thick the "Tonka Toast".
Here is DW's Tonka Toast.
Here is my Tonka Toast.
As the waitress putting the breakfast down on the table, she told us the table with the kids paid without leaving any tips. I guess because she found some one who can relate to her frustration and willing to listen, she now has an outlet to rant. On one hand, we are on vacation and I just lost my wallet, not sure I really want to listen to other people's problem. On the other hand, I really felt bad for her because I knew exactly how she felt. So I choose to listen and let her rant. At least that makes her felt a little better.
The Tonka Toast was awesome.

I can probably eat 2 or 3 of them. The coffee wasn't bad either and I know many people has complained about the Disney coffee. When the waitress drop off the check, DW said we have to leave the waitress a bigger tips because she had a bad morning and I agreed. Since I have no cash on me any more, we have to dip into DW's cash reserve to paid the bill anyway. The total was about $28 something, I think. DW left her $35 all together, much more than my normal 15% tipping range. And actually, during all our meal at Disney, we tipped at a minimum of 18% tips for every meal. There were a couple meal we tipped as high as 20% because the CM was just exceptional.
Once the breakfast was over, we were all charged up even though I know both of our bodies were pretty worn. Nonetheless, it's time to "Power Disney" again at EPCOT because we have both lunch & dinner ADR inside EPCOT today. So we knew once we get in now, we won't be getting out until closing time. Yikes!!
