Is it just me or others? When I go to book I don't see a for personal use question. I've booked AU, DW and DL since the "warning" came into effect and I have never seen it.

I am betting people click the box and likely don’t read past the word “Terms” if that. Tee hee. They could add in “and agree to give you my baby upon their 7th birthday” and most wouldn’t notice.
That's me. I realized that I hadn't been asked when making my last few reservations and I thought they removed it. Then it hit me that I always check a box. I just don't read anything next to the box. 🤣

Today, when I called to add a request to an upcoming reservation, I did notice that, for the first time since they started asking, they didn't ask. Made me wonder.

Years ago I had a software asset management job. One company, in its end user license agreement, had you selling your soul to the devil. Very few people got that far. (I doubt that it would be legally binding, but made the point well).

^^^ This.

I made reservations online recently and was aware of the whole "personal use" issue. For me doing it online, it was like "yadda, yadda, yadda, check the box."

When I called Member Services to merge some back-to-back reservations, it felt like a whole different thing when the person asked me the question verbally. Something about the way it was worded gave me pause, even though I was expecting it. First she said something about me agreeing that the reservation complied with DVC terms and conditions, then she added, "and you confirm that the reservation is for your personal use only."

If she had been told to ask something like, "Do you confirm that the reservation is for your personal use only, as defined in the DVC terms and conditions?" it would have been an immediate "yes" from me.

But the way that the "personal use" part was asked separately, it really felt like she was asking if I would be the one staying in the room. It made me think, "Wait, what?" even though I know what's going on. And in my case, I am going to be the one staying in the room!

Anyway, that's my take on it.

Did someone want to do a real or not real booking and say no (for family and friends) and see what they say?

I did…to test things…and there is no issue because we are allowed to book for ourselves, family and friends and renters.

That is the thing about this,..the term personal use can be interpreted as you specifically and no one else.

But in the context of our contracts and using DVC. it doesn’t mean that.

Even the T and C say that only renting frequently or regularly…which is not defined in those T and C…is what is not part of personal use.

As long as you say yes, you believe it matches, then you are good.

Which is what I did…I said yes, it complies with the personal use guidelines since renting is allowed.

I was just buying OTUP with MMB and even though gave my name as staying in the room on the reservation, they still had to go through the spiel making me attest to personal use.

This will be done now for all adjustments and bookings since we have had to always agree to T and C when doing things online.

Obviously the addition of the words are new and having people agree via chat and calls with MS is new, but the rules surrounding who can stay usi by your membership are not.

Again, personal use does not mean you are the guest…it means you are using the membership as intended…for you, family and friends, and renters as long as you are not renting to the degree you are in violation of DVCs commerucsl use policy.

They go ahead and sign the scroll? What poor unfortunate souls 🤔 🤣
Except Ursula actually explained the terms and got informed consent. 🤔

My objection to the phrase they say is they add the word “your” personal use. That’s not what the contract says. It says personal use.

I replied yes I’m using it in accordance with the terms and conditions that I agreed to when I purchased . They let me modify the reservation.

LOL true, but Ursula manipulated the terms and actively sabotaged Ariel.

Would Mickey do that to us? 🤔🤣

*Still agrees to checkbox*
