"We're following Dad to work....SURPRISE!!!" Secret's out Trip - May/June 2013

We enjoy our home but wanted to see a few others to make sure this one was THE one. I think we are getting a great deal on it and I know it makes DH happy to be home owners again. Well, yay for you guys! that is awesome to be home owners again!

Yes I do believe he sucked down that kool aid!!! DVC may have to come next year as sad as that is OR DH said last night ....."you know we could just always rent points when we want to go" which is true...we will see. :goodvibes

Not much new on the Disney front except that we are now under four months!!! .....still waiting on a deal for our first two nights. :cool1:

We've been crazy busy this week with work and the house stuff. Thankfully tomorrow is Friday. Due to co worker absences I've had before/afterschool duty four out of the five days this week. It was all completely out of their control but tiring all the same. hopefully everyone is back to work, and you can get back to your schedule.

Tomorrow we will officially be under contract on the house and in the process. I'd better enjoy my last couple of days of freedom because spring soccer season starts Sunday morning..... :faint: I remember soccer mornings too well. cold, cold, cold!

Well I'm off to print off some of the last minute paperwork that I need for tomorrow before going to bed. 5 a.m. comes way too early!!!
Hope everything goes smoothly tomorrow!

Hope everything goes smoothly tomorrow!

I think maybe all my coworkers will be there tomorrow....maybe.....one of them's hubby just got out of the hospital today so I doubt it but tomorrow is a planning day anyways so there will be no kids. <------------longest run on sentence ever....

We ended up not signing papers on Friday because our loan guy was hoping that the "new numbers" that come out tomorrow in Washington will cause them to lower interest rates. :rolleyes2 Lower interest rates = good but waiting = bad....I'm just ready for it to be ours already. Notice how quickly I've become impatient with all of this. lol.....

We started soccer today and our boys lost 2-0 but they looked REALLY good compared to the fall season. ::yes:: It was a VERY exciting game to watch and I screamed my little (big?) lungs out. Now I have a sore throat! :faint:

I forgot my camera at home so I have no pictures of the game. Sorry! :(

So I'm going to take some time and talk about what we "plan" to do each day in regards to parks, food, rides, shows, etc. while we are there. Of course most of this will change but that's o.k. too!

Our first day we hope to get to Disney around 3 - 4 p.m. We plan to check in at !??!?!?!?!, maybe have dinner (we have no idea) and then head to Magic Kingdom. I love going to Magic Kingdom first. It totally gets us into the Disney mood and by doing this we get to ride some of our favorites just one more time....

Rides for that first night......Buzz, Peoplemover, Dumbo, Barnstormer, Little Mermaid, It's a Small World, Haunted Mansion, Pirates....

I also hope to see Wishes and the new projection show because like we learned last time you watch it the first chance you get. Last time it stormed the next two Magic Kingdom evenings and we never saw Tink fly.

We hope to end the night fairly early 11 p.m. or so (we will still be an hour behind) and head back to our resort to prepare for an early morning.

We always go to MK first too. I never understand, how can you not? It's the reason you are there! Even just an hour for a look at the castle, one ride and wishes - well, that's the perfect day!

Good plan! Epcot is always our first. We get in the park around 5/6 usually...love eating in WS.

MK fireworks- worth it??? I've never seen them.:/

OH yeah, in my opinion they are very worth it!!! The MK show (Wishes) is my favorite one!

Well, even though your boys team(s) lost, at least they improved....progress not perfection. :)
You for got your camera? What are you becoming me?

Got to do MK first. We tried mixing it up a bit once, and went to DHS first... the whole vacation didn't seem the same.

Some of my favs!

I also hope to see Wishes and the new projection show because like we learned last time you watch it the first chance you get. Last time it stormed the next two Magic Kingdom evenings and we never saw Tink fly.

We saw wishes 2x last trip, but missed the projection show both times.

I totally agree. Just hitting Main St. is enough to make the vacation begin!

Good Monday Morning!

I agree we usually hit MK first and try to catch Wishes that first night.

I have found if we catch Wishes the first night, it is easier for us. Later in the stay we are always so tired and we end up not being able to stay up. So we try to catch all our fireworks show in the beginning of our trip.

Good Plan!

Yes and all of the boys were proud of how they had played so it was an all around great game!!

:rotfl2: Nope I didn't say it!! YOU did!!! I'm usually SOOO on top of things (I'm the team manager and have to update/keep all of the books.) but this time I forgot EVERYTHING at home......the books, the player cards, the game sheet, the camera.....GEEZ!!! I had to come back for most of it and STILL forgot the camera!

Yep I agree!!! Also, in the summer (at least last year) it seemed to storm each evening so if it's clear we are watching the show!

SOOOOO......

I worked on burp cloths this weekend for two different orders. I absolutely love these!! What do you think?

Also, we signed a lot of our paperwork today for the house so I'm pretty excited!! :woohoo: Now it's just a wait and see.... popcorn:: ....for the paperwork to be worked out so that we can close.

All of my coworkers were back today and our students had the day off for a teacher work day so I was able to relax and even eat OUT for lunch!!!! Adult conversation is a marvelous thing!!!

Noticed that your trip overlapped with my upcoming one, so I decided to join in. I'm also part of the FB June group, but I can't keep straight who belongs to what DIS name!

You will love Beach Club! We stayed there in May 2010, and loved it! The pool is awesome! With the ages of your sons, I'll bet they'll love it!

Looking forward to reading more! :)

Wow! You have a lot on your plate! Geesh, I thought maybe I had a companion in the forgetful club, but YOU have a darn good excuse!

Yay for the paperwork getting closer and closer to being complete.

Aren't grown-up luncheons wonderful?

I love the lavender (at least that is the color it looks on my screen) with the flowers. so so pretty. Your work is spectacular!

I have a thought for you. When my kiddos were preschooler/kindergarteners they loved to help me cook. So I made them childrens aprons with their names (painted) on them. I got a few requests when people got wind of it. They were a pretty high demand item. Of course that was 15 years or so ago. The paint would wear off, but I am thinking.... embroidery won't. Just a thought if you hadn't already thought of it. Something to add to your experiment table. :)

Yep I think we will all love the Beach Club. It's a dream of mine to stay there. I just hope my boys get brave enough to go down the slide!!! :thumbsup2

Yep, I'm crazy busy right now. Between wild times at work preparing for testing, soccer season, the house, and a few other things, life is go go go!!!

Isn't the lavender one gorgeous!!?!? I love that one too! Thank you for the compliment but it's not really my work. My machine does all the work. I just feed it thread!

What a great idea!! I make teacher's aprons but haven't made a child's apron yet. I may just have to try that! Well off to kiss my boys night and work on a few things! NIGHT ALL!

So tonight I was minding my own business coming to visit my lowly little PTR and when I logged onto the DIS, I saw that I had an award!!! ME?!?!? Top thread of the month??? Surely not!! So I click the award since I know it's not my PTR and it leads me to my Disney Time Sweepstakes thread. Yep I can see how that's top thread of the month. But that made me curious..... :confused3 .....I've never ever seen that award before. Is it new? Either way, I'd like to thank my mother who never brought me to Disney, and my husband who...oh wait, it's not that big of an award? Really? O.k. back to your regularly scheduled program.....

SO I just wanted to let ya'll know that we are going on a business trip with my husband for most of this week. Our schools are out for Mardi Gras and DH is being sent away so we are taking a small vacation with him!!! YAY!!!

I will still be able to check my DIS stuff while I'm away but may not post much if we get busy.

Today we separated the boys things so that now instead of having a bed room and a toy room we have one boy and all of his things in each room. They asked to be separated which kinda makes me sad since it shows that they are growing up. :( In the process we threw out soooooo much junk.

We are well into the home buying process now and will more than likely be homeowners sometime around this day next month. I'm excited because I will finally be able to paint the white walls!! (My boys get them SOOOO dirty!)

SO my question tonight is......if I decide to do a mini TR of our "vacation" inside my PTR here would you be interested? I don't want to bore ya'll but I can only say so much about Disney plans! lol......

I am playing catch up on all of the PTRs...very behind!! I would definitely love o read a mini-TR though! All of your projects you have made are so pretty! You are really talented! And a big yay for signing the papers for the house!! :yay:

Congratulations on the award!! I think I have to go over and check out your other thread soon.

Yay to an unexpected vacation. So, you all get school off for Mardi Gras? cool.

I would love to read a mini TR on your "other" vacation.

Well, hello again!!! What a week we have had!! Remember when I spoke of doing a TR of our small trip following DH on his business trip. Well, that will be a VERY short one because he was called home on emergency the VERY first day!!!:crazy2: :( We did have a great day at the Houston Children's Museum and Ikea but that was all we got to do. I'll share those pictures later though!

For now, I'd like to talk about our second day at Disney.

Our second day is at Hollywood Studios for Star Wars Weekend. I'm honestly not feeling this choice. We love Star Wars.....we really do but I've been hearing how the park opens an hour or more BEFORE the scheduled opening times. It's scheduled to open at 9 a.m. right now. I'll be honest. We are going to get up and get there for 9 or so. I'm not going to get my crew up to be there for the chance that they will open at 7:30 or 8. IF we are up and there then that's great but I'm not stressing. Worst case scenario......we don't get to ride TSM and just ride the other things that we enjoy at HS.

We aren't really interested in the autographs of the famous celebrities that will be there. My kids probably don't know who they are. We love the old Star Wars shows and Lego Star Wars video games. They will enjoy seeing the characters that will be there so that's why we are going. I don't even plan to do Jedi Training this day (even though I hear it's something special) simply because I don't want the stress of having to race there or being too late.

Our plan for the day is to get there as early as possible and get FP's for TSM if possible. DH will ride RNRC and TOT while I take the kids to Disney Jr. or Little Mermaid. We have lunch reservations at Sci Fi which is exciting because it's our first time eating here!! I've looked at the menu and as crazy as this sounds I will probably get the New York Strip Steak even though it's lunch time. DS10 and I will split. DH will probably get the same thing as us. DS6 is likely to get sliced apples, mac and cheese and ice cream sundae.

I would like to be able to see the parade but am not too interested in Hyperspace Hoopla. I also want to be able to shop at the special shops while we are there. We do have a empty day at the end of our trip to fill with anything we've missed. Since the empty day is a Saturday, if we decide that we REALLY want to do SWW again we can always use that last day.

Have any of you ever been to SWW? Any advice for us first-timers?

IN other news, we should close on our house in less than three weeks! It's going by quickly because we've been so busy!!

I just finished a HUGE order of burp cloths....more burp cloths than any baby could possibly use! But hey if they want to pay me, I'll make them ya know?? It pays for Disney! Here are some of my favorite burp cloths- -

HI! :wave2:
Sorry your DH got called back on an emergency. Hopefully work related? Not personal. At least you got a way for a little while.

About the upcoming WDW trip.... what is SWW?
I hope you enjoy Sci Fi. We've been a couple of times. I would give mixed reviews. But, would say it is a must try at least once.

I think it is great you aren't stressing about getting stuff done. And I love shopping at Cid's shop. We purchased a poster of Pete's Dragon there many years ago, and it still hangs in our play room.

YAY for the time going quickly for the closing on the house.

I love the burp clothes. My favorites are the purple girl in old fashion dress/bonet and the catapillar.

I love that 11pm is "fairly early" for your family. With a 3 y/o, I'll be pushing it to stay up until 9pm. :lmao: Love your plans so far. We are avoiding SWW, though. My kids are just discovering Star Wars through a lego star wars Wii game and don't know all of the characters yet. Since we only have one day at HS, and my son's preference is TSM, we picked a lower crowd day. Although, when they are older, we are definitely going to check out SWW!!! Looks like fun. :thumbsup2

Yep it was emergency for business. He ended up working the Monday from 7 a.m. til past midnight only to get up early Tuesday morning and do it again.

SWW is Star Wars Weekend. I hope Sci Fi is good. We picked it based on the atmosphere and didn't look at food reviews.

Where/what is Cid's shop? I don't think I've ever heard of it. I'll be honest and say that we have NEVER stopped to shop in HS so hopefully this time we will have a chance to.

I love the little girl too! She reminds me of girl things from when I was little!

Last June we hung out at MK til 12:30-1 a.m. one night and until after 11 every other night but my DS6 is a grouch the next day when we do those late nights if we have to get up early the next day. I have SOOOO many beignet and coke pics from 11 or later also. We really are night owls. I have avoided SWW too before this trip and I'm still not sure about it this time. I keep telling myself that seeing the characters is worth the crowds and not getting anything else accomplished that day but I'm just not sure.

So sorry to hear that your DH got called back early...glad everything is ok though!! Your DHS plans look great! We have never done Sci-Fi...I will be interested to see what you think about it!

Your burp cloths are so pretty!! I couldn't pick a favorite...they are all adorable!

Yay for just 3 weeks til you close on the house! That's awesome!!
