We're All MAD here! SPAZZ hands, cupcakes, booze, and running...GSC Feb. 2015 PTR

Caught that, did you? :rolleyes1 No, I don't think I'll ride. It's Nicole's favorite, so I got FP's but I will probably pass. I'm worried it will make me sick and we have a race the next morning!

Yes, you pretty much have to make 3 FP's. I'm sure you can cancel once they are made to have less, but why bother? Some of the lines that normally aren't long (Spaceship Earth) are longer now BECAUSE of the FP+ system...and of course with the tiers, you can't really get ALL the FP's you need. :sad2:

Yes! Disney Day! :woohoo:

HEY NO WORRIES ABOUT NICOLE RIDING TOT ALONE...Cammy, Amy, & I have fastpasses for ToT that day at 12:00...we could seriously wait until your window opens at 12:45 and ride along!

If we are still at DHS, that would be awesome! I'm not positive that we will still be there, I think we wanted to get lunch at Epcot (our 3rd park of the day!). It will depend on how late we get to DHS after AK! :thumbsup2 I'm not sure Nicole was even going to use it, she was just going to do single rider when we were done with the other two rides. This is SO EXCITING!!!!!! I can't believe how close it is now!

Here's my idea so far...YES, I know I asked for help, but I'm impatient, you can't hold that against me b/c you are too! :rotfl2:

I really want to do the 11 miler, but don't feel the need to do more than that. The question is WHEN do I do it? If I'm going to start tapering at 3 weeks out, I'm thinking I might do it then? Instead of doing the 11 the week after next, I could do 10. Then the week where I have to put in another long run but want it to be shorter b/c I will have done 10 the week before...I could do 8? :confused3

So on the 10th-11th I would do 3-10 instead of 3-11
then on the short run weekI would actually do two shorts and an 8 on the weekend
then on the 31st-1st I would do 4-11
and then the last long run (where Galloway has you doing 14 and I would be in Orlando) I would probably just do 5-7 or something like that. back-to-back, but shorter because I would have done 11 that previous Sunday.

This won't make any sense unless you are looking at the GSC Training!

Hi! I'm late, but joining in on your PTR. All of this back-to-back talk makes me very glad I'm "only" doing the HM! As far as training goes, I'm struggling with injuries too, but I got in 20.25 kms on Christmas day, so I figure I don't have to go that far again until race day.

The other thing I keep telling myself is it's more important to go out there and do it (slowly and safely) than not at all (due to injury and having to rest!) I don't always listen to myself, but I keep saying it anyway! It's hard to get away from faster = better and the  you get from beating previous times (even on 5k around the block runs!)

Yay! Glad you are here! I can never get too much running talk!

Last year I was so glad to be "just" doing the half. I wanted it to be just about doing my first half marathon and I know it was the right choice! The challenge hasn't really been too tricky with the back-t0-back, but upping my mileage always seems to be tricky!

I knew going into the challenge that I might have some issues with trying to get a PR for the half. Last year I didn't have that worry at all...BUT still found a way to stress myself a little b/c in my head I wanted to come in short of 3 hours. I did that, which was awesome, but now that I have that little voice that says if I could just PR by a tiny bit on the half I would be happy! I swear, I just like to punish myself! :rolleyes1

I will say that I'm much more confident this year. I know I can do it and I've trained enough and could tell on my long runs that at this point I could go the distance and get it done...so I have to try and stress less about it! Mother nature isn't making it easy though, this time around the cold has been my issue and it looks like this upcoming weekend will be another freezing cold long run, which makes me not as excited about running it!

It's 1 degree here. ONE. DEGREE.

With snow on top of ice.

Why did I sign up to train for a 'winter' half-marathon?

W T F!!!

Uh yeah. I think last winter was mild and I didn't realize how bad it would be if it wasn't a mild winter?? :confused3

I hit the gym and to be honest, if this keeps up, I will continue to go there. I do have an outside run Thursday afternoon with my furry client, so I have to get out, but I'm actually considering my long run at the gym! I don't really want to do intervals on a TM, but I will if I have to. I think after today's TM run at the gym (which I enjoyed) I would prefer it to freezing my as$$$$ off outside! :scared:

My work 'running' club starts today and the organizer (she's hard core marathoner) is INSISTENT we still go outside. I am worried about injury and working up the nerve to tell her no. And just go back downstairs on the treadmill. I did the 4 on the treadmill yesterday.....

Well, Victoria and I will be hitting the gym today, too. I'll either be on the treadmill, too or in the pool!! :boat: (closest thing to swimming I could find!)

Swimming is such a great exercise. My gym has a great pool, but I have real issues with staying warm in the winter and I cannot swim b/c I FREEZE for hours after I get out of the water and I'm miserable. Have fun Ann!

And I guess that's why we do it. We're addicted to challenging ourselves :worried:::yes::

That really sucks! I'm glad I live in a place where 1 degree celsius is cold

Our schools just closed for tomorrow! -40 with windchill. Should I go running? Hahahahaha! That would be negative!!

But I did do it today in 5 degrees. I'm pretty proud of myself! :thumbsup2

It's zero here this morning (-10 wind chill) and I have to run outside today with a dog! I don't wanna! *pout*

There's a zero percent chance my client will tell me it's too cold and not to do it, so I'm going to have to get out there. I'll do 3, but I'm not going to be happy about it. I had to walk a dog yesterday in -8 wind chill and after 5 minutes I was getting a headache like you get with brain freeze b/c the wind was so painful. I was all bundled up too!

This means I'll appreciate the Florida weather even more when I get down there, right???? :sad2:

It's a little too cold for that, honesty. Do less than 3 so your nose doesn't fall off. Can you wait a few hours so that it warms up a little. If the sun comes out it will help- (the sun is not out up here.. but it was yesterday and it made it seem less cold than it really was)

I had a dream last night that I found Tweedle Dee/Dum hoodies at some store in the mall & I was anxiously trying to sort through to find our sizes so I could buy them.

I also had a dream I went to get my gray covered and my hairdresser found lice in my hair. Eek.

Why can't I dream of dating George Clooney? :confused3

You probably got the lice after getting too boozed up at Epcot and wearing a sombrero. ;)

Yeah, I'm freaking out after taking the trash out, I am going to cut it to 2 miles. I don't even want to do that but it's my freaking job, so what do I do? Sigh.

Oooh Tweedle hoodies! Maybe foreshadowing cooler temps when we are there. I HOPE NOT! After these crazy cold temps, it better be warm in Florida or I'm going to have to throw a tweedletantrum! :rotfl2: Like THAT but without the laughing! :p

No, a tweedletantrum includes the laughing. And a lot of f-bombs. And a dancing banana.

Woohoo! I just found this from the 2014 PHM thread and I'm so excited to read :cool1: I loved your report on last year's race, and in fact, you're one of the people who really inspired me to run it this year. I can't wait to read about all of your plans :yay:

Whoohoo! WELCOME!!! :dance3: Thank you, I never would think of myself as an inspiration, that was sweet of you! :flower3:

I've been watching the live feed of the WDWmarathon all weekend and I am SO PUMPED for the Glass Slipper Challenge!!! :cheer2:

I ran the 10K last year, and then started reading several PHM reports after I got back home. I commented on a few (including yours :)) and got such encouraging feedback, that I bit the bullet and signed up for this year! One of my good friends and my niece will be running with me - I'm very excited!!!

I just finished reading about your foot pain, and boy can I relate. Did an 8 mile the week before Christmas and ended up with a nasty pain on the outside of my knee (pretty sure it's IT band). Been trying to work it out in various ways (got new shoes, using a foam roller, some extra stretches), but my 9-miler the day after New Year's was pretty brutal. Short runs seem to be fine - I can feel it, but no real pain - but I'm on schedule for 10.5 this coming Friday and I'm really dreading it. I think just one more long run after that, and then I'm done until the PHM.

Here's hoping we can get through without too much pain :thumbsup2

You've got this! :thumbsup2

I've really learned to listen to my body and even after having some pain pop up this training period, it's way better this year compared to last. I think that's b/c I have learned that after long runs I have to recover longer than "they" say. I need more than 1-2 days off after a long run, so I have adjusted for that and I feel like it's really making the difference! I also only have two long runs left and I'll be doing my last long run 3 weeks out instead of 2 so that I have more time to recover before the GSC! Only 40 days now!! :cool1:

Thanks! Well, it's been two weeks since my last long run, and I was scheduled to do 10.5 today, but it's not going to happen (my running buddy is sick and I'm not motivated enough to manage that long on my own ;)). The knee has felt pretty good through my maintenance runs - I can feel the soreness, but no real pain. So, hopefully the extra week between long runs will help the healing.

Hope your training is going well too! Can't believe we're only 5 weeks away :faint:
