I swear sometimes you have to keep a sick sense of humor or you are going to go freakin insane.
So far this month I have had to go on maternity leave early so no more paychecks until I recover from my csection scheduled on 1/25...DH is out of a job since the company he worked for JUST went out of business w/ no warning...I have a crazy ex to deal with lol....Holly had severe tonsillitus last Sat and is just getting over it...we got our elec bill and while I know a 200.00 bill isn't bad with what some are paying it is bad for us lol (wth is up with Fl weather and please let our current warm front last!!)...and guess what I woke up to this morning?????
Give up?? A child covered in red spots...no fever or anything, just masses of red spots head to toe...I just got home from urgent care (my kids NEVER gets sick on days the ped is open I swear) and even though I was pleading with God that it was an allergic reaction to SOMETHING..well guess who has the CHICKEN POX? Holly of course lol...nope no allergy for us, its the dreaded pox.
Of course DH and I have had it as kids so we're good...but since I am 9mos preggo and due for my csection in EIGHT days I can't be around her...and neither can Remy since she hasn't had it. I have to call her school Tues to let them know so they can keep an eye out on the other kids..we haven't been anywhere else so I am sure its from there lol...Sigh...the doc said she SHOULD be done with it by the time I get out of the hospital...the girls were supposed to go to the hospital with my inlaws while I was in surgery on the 25th so they could see the baby but now I don't know if they should. Darn it!!!
Anyways, any advice on how to make her comfortable, etc? I had this when I was little so I don't remember much lol..
My suggestion would be to take her back to her regular doc for a 2nd opinion. Just to be 100% sure it's not scarlet fever. With the tonsilitis (Never could spell that) earlier and now a rash, that would make me wonder if her tonsil problems weren't Strep related and now it's moved on to scarlet fever.
Strep is also dangerous for you right now and I'd want that ruled of for certain.
I know scarlet fever and chicken pox look different, but keep in mind that unless you have an older Dr., MANY have not seen a full blown case of chicken pox. It's much easier to mis-diagnose now that most of our kiddos have had the vaccine. (FWIW, DS never had a fever with scarlett fever...we also didn't know he had strep until he had the rash...)
Sorry you're going through this and good luck withthe new baby. (And the 25th is a GREAT day to have aq baby. It's my DDs Birthday! Hope your delivery is as smooth as mine was for her!)
My son (4 at the time) had chicken pox when my daughter was born. Both my sons couldn't visit me in the hospital. I had a c-section so I was there for 4 days. It was hugely disappointing. My husband would videotape my daughter and show it to the boys at home. Two weeks later my second son got the chicken pox and two weeks after that, my daughter got them. She didn't have many spots thankfully.
Did your girls have the vaccine? the booster? If so, maybe your other daughter won't get them. Otherwise I imagine she has already been exposed.
