Well, it's happening, can't get VWL or BCV at 7month window, and I own at both!!!!!

Let us say that all the WDW resorts were built all at the same time (and perhaps with the same number of units)and are being sold simultaneously, I believe that Saratoga will ne the last one to be sold out not because it has the most number of units but because it is ugly.

Nice. :sad2:

Let's say I have 3 cookies (since we're talking cookie cutters, anyway). I give one to each of my kids. I might say to my ds11, "You have chocolate chip." To dd6, "Ah, you have a peanut butter cookie." And I might say to ds9, "You have a sugar cookie with sprinkles." And I might then say, "I love chocolate chips - they just make a cookie wonderful for me!" And I might even add, "But I'm just not a big fan of sprinkles." ANd I am betting that my kids will still feel good about their cookies, and munch happily. Viva la cookie difference.

But let me say, "Man, You got the peanut butter cookie - that thing is ugly. Bummer for you. WHo would want that thing? Sprinkles? They are so cheap and tacky and yucky. Only chocolate is worth having." Well - as any parent can tell you - it won't be pretty. That's a playground bully manuever.

I'm a BWV owner and frankly, I'd have NO issue swapping those points for SSR (especially for 12 extra years!) I've never been fond of the leering clown, LOL, or the whole carny thing, though for my husband, all of that Atlantic city ambiance brings back happy memories of his childhood at the northern beaches. To each his own. So maybe I don't think BWV is as pretty (IMO) as SSR - but please NOTE how this was said - because it IS possible to state an opinion and not point-blank antagonize.

Thats a good way to look at it-you do mean BCV is choclate right? :rotfl:

See how easy it is to be polite? Thank you, Gopher!

The question is, would seabright call SSR ugly if we were all sitting in a room together, or just from the safely anonymous keyboard? :confused3

:thumbsup2 Great way of looking at it gopherit. Hey, I just look at it as the more people that don't like my home the easier it is for me to stay there!

Hmmm...let's think about this. I own at SSR and get the 12 extra years of points. I am going to assume that BWV, VWL, BCV and OKW will still be DVC resorts after all of those owners "lose" their points. I guess the SSR owners will have no problems booking when the owners retire their points.

The demographics of the DVC board change with the addition of each resort, especially a monster one like SSR. Given that many DVCers post frantically during the time period where they are considering purchasing or planning those first trips, this board likely has a large number of SSR newbies. IMO, this has led to a "group-think-oversensitivity" to anything remotely negative concerning SSR. A poster who mentions any less than shining SSR opinion quickly gets shouted down by the many SSR supporters. Many times opinions expressed are confused with facts, and people can't separate the two.

Sometimes it seems like you can barely post "good morning" on a webboard without offending someone. I mean...what if your personal morning is not so good?...NOW you have a reason to be offended.

Personally I got a big kick out of the Rich and Dee battles. However, if Rich and or Dee where around today, I don't know how long they'd last before totally offending the masses. I'd give them about 3 or 4 threads.

Oversensitivity kills expression. :listen:

Yes that can happen when you call someones home an ugly housing project.

I can understand that SSR may not be your favorite DVC resort and that you prefer the other DVC resorts. But to say SSR is ugly, is just not the truth.
SSR may not be as pretty to you as another DVC resort is, but it certainly is not ugly. A burned out, rat infested, tenement building is ugly, SSR is not.

Now I am insulted by that comment.

Where I choose to live, and how I choose to decorate my home has meaning to me. For someone who has never seen my 'burned out, rat infested tenement' and yet demeans it and calls my home ugly, well that is both hurtful and insulting, not to mention rude.

I won't be posting on this thread again!

Good Morning to all!

Wrong, as it stands right now, it'd be SSR alone. The others will cease to be part of the DVC and not be available on points to anyone. ASAMOF, it's likely they won't be available the last couple of years they are still in the system.

Different strokes, I don't like the interior room decor. I think its ugly. Sorry if that word is offensive, but that is the word that springs to mind whenever I see an interior photo. There is no "truth" to the words ugly and beautiful, they are subjective words. And taste is subjective.

(BCV has an ugly couch, and the shower curtain at BWV is enough to make you wonder if the designer intended to make you go blind. I loved the teal used in decorating OKW - in 1987! )

The outside of the resort looks nice - and I think will be beautiful when the landscaping fills in, and I think the Artists Palate area is stunning. But those rooms don't do it for me.

It may be a subjective word but I found it painfull when I told my DW (hey that dress is ugly) I should have said (I like the other dress better)

What is ugly, is really a subjective term. What I consider ugly, you might find beautiful. AS the saying goes: One man's trash is another man's treasure.
I can fully understand prefering a DVC resort over another. One fits for your family and a completly different DVC resort is the perfect fit for another family.
To say you find a shower curtain, couch etc., ugly--in your opinion, is one thing. Labeling an entire resort as ugly, an apt complex, etc., is untrue and solely one person's opinion.
We have stayed and continue to stay, at all levels of WDW resorts--on a regular basis. We have yet to find a WDW resort that matches some of the comments made regarding SSR. And this includes value resorts, moderate resorts, deluxe resorts, DVC resorts, conceirge rooms, etc.
Ironically, SSR is not a resort that we own at, nor it is our favorite DVC resort. Actually, although we enjoyed our trip to SSR and would stay there again--it is our least favorite WDW DVC resort. But it is still a very nice resort and far from ugly, an apt. complex, etc.

I can't believe how this thread just keeps going and going.... :moped: So I had to add just a few things. I own at DVC and that alone is satisfying to me. Many of the SSR comments and the comments about resorts prior to SSR are overdone, exaggerated, or sometimes just rude. At the 7 month window we are all equal in the DVC booking race so if someone really wants to avoid the level of discomfort that has been described in some posts of getting sentenced to a resort of epic horrors, I'd think that the 11 month window would be the answer. Just my thoughts-let the drama continue :yay:

It is a subjective term and that is the point. These are SUBJECTIVE opinions. So I think the rooms at SSR are ugly - what do you care? Who am I to you that my opinion of the decor of the room makes a difference? Call your wife's dress ugly and hopefully she values your opinion - and since you probably live together, its nice to have similar taste before she goes couch shopping - you really shouldn't place any value on my SUBJECTIVE opinion of beauty - I probably have lousy taste (also subjective) and AM A COMPLETE STRANGER - for all you know my house is decorated in Star Trek memorabilia.

Yes, but if our opinion differs, what you find ugly, I find beautiful and amazing, do we not comment? What's the point of posting, sharing if you do not expect feedback? You just put this ugly opinion out into cyberspace and no one comments?

That's fine but what about the people who are looking for a differing point of view or opposing experiences?

Im done defending SSR. I just try to help where others have helped me. For every negative opinion about DVC I read prior to joining BCV, many more posted their positive experiences and I found hope in those positives and comfort in knowing that not everyone had horrible experiences.

To say what one says or how they say it should have no bearing or value ON A DVC DISCUSSION BOARD, is like Charles Barkley saying he is not a role model.

None of us would be here, if we didnt value each others experiences and opinions. And yes, we are strangers, but as someone who does not hide behind anonymity and happy to meet others at every opportunity and reveal my true self when I pass along a DVC Christmas tree, or meet up at the Member Merry Mixer, or on the DVC Cruise or Dis meet, I do care what others think.
Will what others think stop me from staying at SSR? NO! But I try to be respectful of other peoples homes and let them enjoy their purchase. There are many things I do not like, but I'd rather be "stuck" at any DVC than at work.
Im not quite understanding the "we should be able to express our negative ugly opinion and no one should have a thing to say about it" attitude. :confused3
