Thank you to Elaine!!! Her technical assitstance paid off!!

You see I have to access the dis through the IP since my school system bans anything that is a chat and chat pop up in the title apparently. So when they fixed our computers this weekend they wiped out everything that was on our desk top. so poof went my favorites list!!

So I called Elaine...saying help!! I can't dis!!! So she was kind enough to call me back and give the ip number so I can go around our school filters!! I should probably be ashamed of myself...but meh! I don't care!

Now to hear something even worse. I had backed up my computer reading program on my jump drive. So I went to reinstall it today and I got a dialogue box about restoring the data would wipe out everything I already had in there. It also had some other stuff but I apparently didn't read it. So the next box that came up said to save as. So I did, only I replaced the file that I needed to open....so I replaced the good one with an empty data base....so 6 months worth of work is gone...all my student data all my information...all the work they have done. now I have to go back and reneter all of the information manually!! wah!!! this really sucks!!

Oh well, gotta start this arduous job. I'll get back in here later!!! And I'll do a better ketchup!!

Holy crud was this a FAT CAT!!!

LOL, Alan, didn't realize you'd be that skeered... figured that was common place down south :p

Bethie, I am with you... it is sloooow here! And glad to hear your survived your inventory weekend. Still doing part time work at the other place?

Nancy, stove top is another I've heard... didn't realize they called them cooktops in the "appliance world" though... learn something new every day :p
We have a GE range and I have the coil tops. I just couldn't bring myself to get the smoothtop. They are harder to deal with if something is uneven. and trust me with my heavy pots, I'd be sure to kill it. I'm dying to get gas back for the range top part of mine though. Just heats up so much better than electric!

Feel better soon though!

I need to start getting ready for dinner... not sure what time we are leaving but I am really looking forward to Melting Pot again!

Beth! Great to hear from you. You did a fab ketchup!

Kimmie, nice looking stove, cook top, range thingy there. What the ??? there are TWO! doors to put in stuff. You must know what to do then huh?
:duck: Not I.

Tara, I am soooo sorry about all that work you have ahead. I don't believe that the system was not backed up by the techie doing the work or somewhere there. You mean if any computer goes awry there that it is all lost? Absolutely amazing! :worried:

Elaine, thanks for the link. Interesting and very smart thing to have. It beats my dog bowl that is refilled by me only me and if I'm not there the pups have to "tell" the first person that understands. Can't view that cat. Have fun at dinner.

Nancy, feel better. Mmmmmm Cookies!

Well, they told us to back all our stuff up. My reading stuff was not on the server so I ended up having to back it up myself. I did that and thought I was ahead of the curve. But then I didn't read the pop up boxes correctly. I could kick myself to the curb and fire me.

Everything that was on our main server was backed up but they wiped out all the c drives. So I have some long afternoons ahead of me!!

Elaine...enjoy Melting Pot!! Yummy!!

going home now...not in the mood to recreate everything!!

tara

Tara  I'm very sorry and know you are frustrated.

Now then vacation planners :) Here is the latest:

It is now official that we will be in Myrtle Beach the first weekend of April. However, since we will be back there for a few days in Nov, I am considering driving out on Monday morning (arriving Sat. night) to go somewhere else for a few days.

I've always wanted to see Helen, GA but I believe that is more of a few hours than a few days ;)

This would be a great opportunity to visit Charleston but I know nothing about the area. A co-worker vacationed there and Savannah last year and loved them both.

As I explore the online world of Visitor's Bureaus and Tourism offices, I wonder if any of you have any personal experiences with the area?

Page 3!

Tara, how frustrating. :(

Elaine, enjoy Melting Pot! :)

Kimmie, nice looking stove. I have a flat top and I love it! So easy to clean. I have all Maytag appliances, too. No problems at all. :)

Watching Olympics.

Alan, not able to help ya. Sorry. We don't get to go unless it's WDW. DH isn't an "explorer." :(

Tara, ahhh that does stink. I am so sorry. I am sure it is going to be a long rebuild.

Hi y'all... boards are moving slow so I didn't get a chance to sign in before I left for Melting Pot
Yummy food and I am stuffed!

I see a few sneated in on me before...

Yep Kimmie, I did register :teeth: so if you ever see a helenabear there it's me! I'm officially helenabear Gomer :p

Tara, I am glad you got my v/m! I called you as soon as I got home and could look at the IP
I am so sorry about work though  What a PITA that has to be!

Lily, that has been a great thing to have around the house! They are very noisy drinkers now, but they love it! But it does hold water longer and a lot harder for me to kick around by accident

Alan, no help with the plannign sorry... I'm sure anything would be loved by Rebecca though :)

Crossing fingers as I type this... I haven't had much luck lately here and there seem to be tons of errors that requires me to kill IE more often than usual :(

Hmmm. My Launchcast Radio is playing Christmas music. :p

Ugh! Lost data. Sorry Tara! :(

Our last cooktop was a smooth top too Sherry. Aren't they lovely! Elaine is definitely right about needing those even bottomed pans... I had one that I threatened to throw out time and time again. Finally did after burning one too many meals.

Did you register in the club thingy or just the boards Elaine? I peeked but didn't see you on the member's list. :confused3 I'm not there yet, but I think I'll check it out pretty soon.

Alan your trip sounds great! I don't have a speck of info for you though, sorry.

Morning all!

Kimmie you mean on here? http://www.thirdday.com/cgi-bin/gomer/browse.py?page=474
If so, then yep, I figured while I was there I ought to go :teeth:

Kimmie, I also noticed that our floor is not 100% even if the range isn't very good for flat pans ;) This reminds me that I still need to adjust mine a little. It's not as bad on the coil, but I still have a few uneven cookings

Okay what's up with the Christmas music? I admit since my iPod, I haven't listened to Launchcast either

Morning Sherry!

I have to take my dad to the airport today. Lucky guy gets to go to FL ;) Then I get to go out to dinner with an old co-worker. Other than that I suppose I have cleaning to do ;)

Hi-ho, hi-ho, it's off to work I go, in the softly falling snow! Hope everyone has a great day!!

Good morning Y'alluns.

When we had to replace our stove a few years ago, Mrs. AA said "No way" to the flat tops.

For some reason the blind lady thought it would be best to have the hot eyes raised a bit so she knew she was putting the pans directly on them. :teeth:

Although she did agree it would be nice to just wipe a dishcloth over the entire surface to clean. ::yes::

I remember the first place we rented after we got married. It was a furnished apartment and the oven had 2 doors. There was a regular sized oven and then a much smaller "biscuit oven" with a separate control for cooking smaller things and not having to heat the whole thing.

Everything was in avcado green and chrome on the dinette set too ;)

Want to guess how old the furniture was? :) We were not in the "high rent" section :)

Hi everyone - had a bit of an "I hate what I look like - I've let myself go" meltdown yesterday.....so today is diet day 1......

Alan - sounds like a lovely first apartment - lol - I aways say you can tell how long someone has been married by the color of their Tupperware.

Ended up only going to Target yesterday to buy cleaning supplies for Alyssa to take back to school.
As far as her college search goes -I keep gently approaching the subject - seems like she is totally confused and has no idea what to do....I asked was she definitely not going back to Albany and now she is saying she's not sure...so once again I gently reminded her that she only has till May 1 for transfer applications.
Chris has been at his friends all week - comes home to shower only......

Got my Amazon order yesterday - 3 new CD's....feel free to laugh at the assortment...
Michael Buble - It's Time
Totally Country 5
Bon Jovi - Have a Nice Day

Trying to get out of this sourpuss mood...... :coffee:

Hugs all around....

Good morning.

Sourpuss mood here today too, Paula.....I'll join you.

Avocado Alan......just have been from about the time I got married....everything avocado green and harvest gold  No wonder I like neutrals now ;)

Must be something in the water... not in the best mood here either today. But I think mine is mostly due to a head ache.

LOL, Alan! I like Rebecca's reasoning. Seriously part of me not liking smoothtops has to do with me being a klutz... I asked and it costs about $400 to repair a top if you break it. Um.... I would... trust me, I would ;)

Paula, I pray that Alyssa figures out what she wants to do. That has to be a tough decision!

I'm off to take my dad to the aiprot. Lucky dog going to FL for a week!

Elaine - thanks for the kind thoughts.

Safe travels for your dad..... :sunny:

Alan,
We vacationed in Charleston, SC several years ago. Totally  it! We went the very end of August - but it was hot and steamy then!

We actually rented a condo on the beach on the Isle of Palms - which is right by Sullivan's Island. Charleston is a few miles away - you have to cross a big bridge to get to there.

We did the horse carriage tour of the Battery at Charleston. Beautiful old homes!! We took a boat to Fort Sumter. Also toured Fort Moultrie (a fort from the American Revolution days).

DH and DS toured the aircraft carrier that is docked there (can't remember the name.)

We also went to a bayou type place with alligators and birds and beautiful flowers.

Do you belong to AAA? If so - go in and get their tour books. That's how I plan the majority of our trips - well, that and now the internet. If you don't belong to AAA, let me know and I'll pick up some books and mail them out to you.

And now to ketchup up with everyone:

Yes - I did finish my column -- on Monday afternoon! :rotfl: Production Manager was a little disgusted with me - but hey, you can't rip the boss's wife a new one, can you??? ;) :lmao:

I am now ready to print out the invoices. Cold is better - but still have the runny nose and cough.

Sorry everyone is feeling like a big ole sourpuss today. Hey - I have an idea! Let's all go to Disney World! Hard to believe that 2 weeks ago I was shooting aliens with Nancy. (Well -- we tried to shoot aliens  )
And Elaine had a ghost riding on her lap. And Suzanne was jealous of my beads! :rotfl2: And Dave tolerated us all!!

Tara - I haven't forgotten your request for Liberty Tree Tavern pics. Can you believe that I've been so sick that I haven't printed the photos out yet? I've been carrying the disk around in my purse for 1.5 weeks and haven't made it to Rite Aid yet.

Paula - sounds as though Alyssa is really torn about what to do with college. Maybe she will stick it out at the same place next year...... Does Chris have the week off for school? And Alyssa from college? Dan got last Friday off and also Monday - and that was only because we haven't used any snow days yet.

DD is being honored at a Convocation Ceremony at her college on Friday for her academic success. DH and I are going down, and I think her BF is, too. It's during the day -- stupid, she has to rush from a class to get there.

Then on Saturday we are going to see Disney Princesses on Ice! :Pinkbounc princess:
