Woooo! I think I've picked out my floor tile!! Weee! Sort've a bluish grey. Ewww. Sounds icky huh? Looks nice with the stainless appliances and I'm hoping will look good with our black granite counter. Yippee! Now to find someone to install it.

A Gomer. That's the endearing term used for and by Third Day fans. Picture the guys and their fans as a family. Gomer is their (our ) last name! I'll send you a link with a little more on it. It's just silliness in one respect, but actually there's quite a back story to it.

Hi Lily! Yeah, Apolo so far has had a rough time. Recovered poorly from a mess up in the 1500, then took bronze in the 1000. Still has the 500 and men's relay to go. We kicked hiney in the men's relay semi though!!

Hi Tara Sounds like the perfect way to spend a dentist appointment! Gah, I hate those visits! They load me up with two 10 mg of valium and nitrous when I go. I am the queen of weenies when it comes to dentists.

Nancy, the kitchen is coming along. All of the new cabinets are in now and we're in the 2 week waiting period for the granite counter top. We've okayed the slabs chosen in our color, the template has been cut and now we just wait for them to cut it and install. Two of the new appliances are in *fridge and range* No wait! Three. Micro/hood over the range. Used one of my new ovens yesterday. We bought a range that has two. This way I'll still have one after I torch one. After the counter is in, the dishwasher and sink can be installed and theeeen comes new floor, which is a good thing because tearing out the old cabinets really did a number on the floor. What type of work are you and Dave hoping to do around your place?

Us...if we ever get to it....new cooktop, 2 bathrooms partially redone and carpets in almost the whole house (minus the 2 guest rooms)...oh and gravel for the drive I HATE buying rocks!!

Anywho, back early from knitting. Mary was tired and I was too so it all worked out for all of us (a few had to go run errands to the store and the like after too).

Woo hoo on the flooring! That sounds veyr nice and should be a great contrast to your counters! I love that (what I call) steel blue color (no matter how light or dark)

Booked out flight for Cancun tonight. It came down $200 from yesterday so we jumped on it. Connecting flights, they canceled direct from here it seems. Connect out of Houston. (We're going in May; DS#2 and his GF and another of their friends so far.) DS is trying to fill up the beds with his friends.

One of the family ghosts got Neil's script for one of his meds...can't find it, and it was on the fridge yesterday. Ughh!

Happy Tuesday....

Quiet here - Chris slept at a friends again - did "car stuff" yesterday - came home from the junkyard with a Cadillac grille - to "hang up in my room"....Alyssa got up to go to work and decided that her bed was to comfortable and went back to sleep - I want that job!!

Not sure what the plans are for today - Alyssa mentioned going to an antique shop that she likes.

Hurray for remodelling - my kitchen is small so the only thing that could be done is build it out I guess - then that would take away from the deck...so I guess that's out - I'd love a dishwasher but that would take away from cupboard space.
Nancy - I'm with you - I desperately need my upstairs bathroom re-done(or maybe just the powder residue removed - lol).

Glad you got good flight rates Lily - as of right no we have no vacations plans for this year.....
Tara glad to hear that you survived the dentist.

Alyssa reports that Ryan's parents and sisters had a great time at WDW - (hopefully I am getting the name correct) Heather Whitestone(former Miss America?) spoke at the conference. They loved Soarin (my suggestion). Alyssa said they brought her some type of backpack but I have not seen it yet.

I like my counters.....I like my kitchen. though the cabinets could stand to be refinished.

We have the pet fountain too. My kitties, only like it a little. They still like to drink out of the faucets better.

What kind of cooktop do you want to get, Nancy? We had to go with a free standing range. Ended up with this one: Range ...and you bet, as soon as the kitchen is a little closer to looking like a kitchen, I'll share some pics.

Ah, building onto a kitchen. I would also love to. I'd so love to have a little "breakfast room" that could look out onto our beautiful sunrises. Sigh. Ah well... I'll be content with my little box window. That's my sunrise window.

Carpet! Oh how I need new carpet! Hopefully that's next on our to do list. Fingers are crossed!

I would love a whole new free standing range though... dual fuel though so in the mean time my electric will work

Having little to no patience with this slllllloooooooowwwwwww DIS , here!!

Wheeeeeewwwww, inventory is over for another 6 months. It has been a grueling process getting ready and then actually going thru it, but at least it went a bit better than last time. Even so, I still don't like this working all night stuff--just not fun to come home and try to get to sleep at 5 in the morning with the sun coming up!

congrats on the new kitchen, Kimmie! I LOVE your tile color choice with all the stainless steel and the black countertops. Sounds bee-yoo-tee-full to me! Can't wait for pix.

My condolences on the passing of your uncle, Nancy. Treasure the good memories. Gotta love those cooktops, too. GF of mine got one with cast iron burners (electric) that were sooooooo cool. Big one even had a temperature sensor built right in. Personally, I like the flat glasstops--so much easier to keep clean with no "nooks and crannies"!! And congrats to Dave on being published!! Too cool!! Best of luck to him for that job interview--is it something he really wants?

Welll....I actually call it a stove top but it seems cooktop is the word to use when looking them up. Guess it isn't a range top or stove top....because there is nothing under it.
I want a basic plain ole electic one Boring, huh?
Don't think I want a smooth glass one.....heard they heat unevenly...but what do I know. I just go with what I am used to.

Not sure what kind of carpets I want either. Need to go looking. I take forever to make up my mind.

I think Dave submitted his article yesterday.....we'll see.
He is actually already published.....just in technical magazines They pay better and he gets paid for reprints

Interview? We'll see. It is the same work he already does....for the competitor
He is about fed up with his boss.....we'll see if he gets a call back. It would take a lot to get us to move.

Nancy, funny that people have had trouble with their Maytags, we never have. Our last dishwasher and range were both Maytag and no problems. The bit of research we did caused us to veer away from GE. I read about some recalls due to electrical issues. Don't need that. We'll keep our fingers crossed that the appliances will be kind to us.
