Sorry about the sap. No sap anymore. Check. Anyway, glad to see all is well.

Thank you Beth and Tara. Ya'll are very sweet.

You are a very loveable twit and I miss you when you are in lurking mode or taking a break. But I understand and wait patiently for the day when you will drop in again! You add a lot to this thread yourself, girlfriend! I love you, too, and hope that we can catch up with each other in person one of these days. Hmmmm......reminds me of a song....."I'll start walkin' your way, you start walkin' mine. We'll meet in the middle......"

 to you Beth. I have my walkin' shoes on! :p

That's quite a schedule Miss Bethie! Make sure you eat your Wheaties!

Another dope that bought Quick Kutz checking in. I like it, but... always forget about using it. Do they have a website? Maybe ordering is possible.

I will go. Hey I have the recipe for smores in the oven like the ones they have at Prime Time in MGM. It is in the recipe book!!!! Just keep Kim away from the oven.

John, I am glad that things went fairly well with James. There is always something when it comes to college. They just opened a Quaker Steak and Lube just 15 minutes from me......maybe you could come down and get some Graeters ice cream, Skyline Chili and Quaker Steak and Lube?

:moped: I can be there for lunch :moped:

What a glorious day both here on the Ya Ya thread and in general. James called from college last night. That boy is amazing. One of the guys in his dorm realized that he needed some AAA batteries. James had enough to share. Another needed a lightbulb for his reading light. James had a spare. Everyone was amazed. He said "I'm an Eagle Scout. You know. Be prepared." The boy he gave the bulb to sheepishly said "I'm an Eagle Scout too". LOL.

They had an orientation at the dorms and the RA laid down the law. Basically, the Golden Rule. Flush the toilet. Don't leave a mess in the common areas. Clean the microwave if it is dirty. Don't make a lot of noise after midnight. That took five minutes. The second year students said that they had ordered pizza and that the first years should wait until 7:20PM and then head over to the common area via a certain path. James smelled a rat. At 7:15, he went around the other way and saw garbage cans full of water and shaving cream. He went back and told the others and they hatched a plan. They came along the appropriate path at the appointed time. They heard someone counting "one....two....". Before three, they divided and dove off the sidewalk just as the second years came around the corner and doused the sidewalk. Not a drop got on the first years. Way to go James.

I guess that the pizza party was at the apartment of one of the second year students. As soon as James entered the apartment, one of the C2s offered him a beer. He said "no thanks". They had a big bowl of "fruit punch" that they were pushing as well. James took a glass of punch and then wandered into the kitchen and dumped it in the sink. He filled his glass with water and returned. When one of the C2s questioned him, he said that he likes to drink his "straight up". A little later James overheard a couple of the C2s saying "that kid over there is drinking straight vodka".

James bought his first round of books. All used. Only $335. So far. And a lab coat and goggles. He needs one more book. Yikes. And this is just summer session.

He found out that the summer hours of the cafeteria do not mesh well with his (or the other 34 BS/MD students) schedule. Breakfast is from 8 to 10:30. And all of them have class from 8 to 10:30. The alternate breakfast places are not open in the summer. And on Tuesday, they have class during the time that lunch is served as well. There are going to be 35 very hungry teens on Tuesday afternoon. James has already organized a Texas Holdem night on Tuesdays since there is a BW3 just around the corner from campus. They are planning to buy 100 wings for $15 and take them back to the dorm.

The kid has only been in college for a little over 24 hours and he's already dorm mom, dorm protector, and dorm social planner. I sure hope he has time for studies.

James is truly in his element. And Sue and I are relieved, happy, and a bit jealous.

I everyone - it's me - the new Kid....checking in.

Finally got caught on on reading all of your wonderful and heartfelt posts. Being a new member of our little group I can tell you that you have all been warm and welcoming - you have made me laugh - cry and more importantly always feel your support. :grouphug:

Don't want to get any sap on tara so I will end it at that - lol.

Lily - date night and a car show - your weekend beat mine hands down!! :thumbsup2
Tara - I'd like to tell you that the school years wil get better from here for Jarrod but I'm usually not prone to lying....
Kimmar - congrats on submitting the paper !!
John - glad to hear that the college move went well - never a dull moment when it comes to those things.
Beth - work - work and work - I should show you the birthday collage I made for Alyssa - just hurried together but she liked it.
Alan - the pics were truely beautiful - you are a blessed family. :sunny:

Well - my good ketchup just left the building - so let me say Smores.....RC.....Moom Pies.....food......kids home for summer.......returning from vaca ....getting ready for vaca......here's to  all of you!!

Quick recap on my end.....work is ok - didn't get a day off last week....miscommunication with an employee that had minor surgery and a note to be out for 2 days - I misunderstood and thought she would call me to confirm if she was definitely going to be out on Saturday. Saturday comes - no call - I'm feeling home free - out shopping for fathers day - etc - get home at 4:15 - being the good employee I check in - my 2 people are panicing - so I worked from 4:15 to 9:15 - another co-worker was nice enough to split the shift with me.
Fathers day was very nice - visited my in-laws in the morning - my father in law was quite happy with his new Boston Red Sox shirt that we gave him - nother in law is coming along from the knee surgery. My dad came over for the afternoon and loved the CD's of piano music that we bought him. I worked 12-5. Kids gave Jeffrey slippers.
Speaking of kids - I'm glad to report things are better. Alyssa has a "new beau" - evidently we gave her the impression that we would not accept anything but her getting back with the old boyfriend" hence the bit of rebellion. We have welcomed the new beau (new as a beau - they have been friends for years so we know him already) and they actually spent quite a bit of time with us this weekend which was nice. I've decided that I 'm not passing judgement - I am not going to pin him as the bad guy that broke up
Alyssa and her boyfriend and I am also not going to place blame on Alyssa for having this all planned. I have cme to realize that there were issues that she struggles with for a long time and finally came to realize that they could nto be resolved. Of course I don't want her getting hurt - I worry about rebound - etc but I have to just be supportive an let her do her thing. She ash orientation at the University of Rhode Island tomorrow.
Chris started his job yesterday. Not sure if I mentioned - he is working for same company that my husband works for - full-time with the surveying crew. He was really tired - of course hated the getting up early btu I think he will really like it.
Husband is well - lots of excitement for him - for the past 5 years or so he and his dad and 2 of his brothers have applied for moose-humting permits in Maine - well this year the got it - so it 's all moose-all the time around here!! 3 families are thinking of going camping on labor day weekend.

Well - that's all I got for now......hugs all around.....

Hey Paula, well it sounds as if your life is moving along just as life should be. Glad to hear that your kids are doing fine. Alyssa will be fine and be patient with her.

John, it sounds as if James is fitting in rather well and that he is the person to hang out with.

Well, not much going on here. My bloodwork didn't come back with the numbers that the doctor would like to see so I am increasing the blood thinner. DRATS!!! But life goes on and I do too.

Been busy doing laundry and cleaning and taking computer breaks in between. :teeth:

Betty, sorry the bloodwork didn't come back with the numbers they wanted. :(

Beth, you are a busy little Ya Ya. Hope you can get some rest.

Paula, sounds like things are going good for you.

John, glad to hear James is doing so well.

Yay, s'mores in the microwave. My fave. kind. ;) :lmao

I haven’t responded to much since the weekend began so let me do a little…sorry in advance if I miss someone…it is not intentional.

Kimmar, Woot! Woot! on the Masters! That is surely a lot of work you have done and I am certain a great load off you now.

Tara, sorry about your friend Beth’s Dad. Seems that you spent a good amount of time at the zoo before the meltdown. Sorry that happens. Whew! on all that work you must do. I hope you enjoy some of it. I know when I finish I feel happy looking at my work even if it only lasts a bit. Hope your RL gets better for you soon. Good for your nap yesterday and games playing, and :rotfl: tee hee on the naming of the Elder Ya Yas comment—Not old here too! Wheee!

Elaine, new cell to Internet with! Whee! What’dya end up getting? Glad you bathing suit hunt was short. I don’t every want to go out shopping for one again…I think I’ve mentioned that I have found oh so many of those pounds that everyone keeps losing here.

John, each time I hear of the duct Tape Festival, I think of you. Maybe next year we will get there, I’ve said that for the last 2 since you first reported on the first one. Great news about James making his way, it is bittersweet. I love that Proud Papa shining through in you when you talk of your young ones. It sounds like all is well with him there. I am glad to hear that.

Sherry, Yay! On the neighbors. I am hoping they find the happiness they seek and they leave you to enjoy the happiness your family should be having with good neighbors. PD for your Grandmother. Mopping the floors at night so they can dry, you are so clever.

Betty, so you will be empty nesting soon? I hope you and DH find time to have a few wild parties and such since you no longer need to set good examples for those youngsters. Glad you get to go to WDW in August. I am waiting to hear of your trip. I’m hoping you might get to meet up some with a new Ya Ya or so whilst you are there. And double drat on the increased meds.

Beth, egad! What a long set of days you have on your platter. PD to you that you enjoy much of the time even if it is work. Glad your knee is better—good enough to consider moving about more. Now the nekkid ritual dance should have you in high steppin’ mode. Yay for Dave’s new lap top. I’d chime in on wanting that scrapping gadget, but I don’t scrap either. I guess I should have one just cuz you pitched the sale so good. I’m sure I could learn to dust around it some.

Alan, did I miss out on all the moon pies? I could use one about now if you have any left…oh and RC will be fine too. Ooh I hope the family had a great time and sorry I missed out on the pizza. I love pizza. The Super Dad pic is good. You are aren’t you! The girls pics are stunning! The pics look professionally done. Were they?

Suzanne, what’s this I hear…you are posting a recipe for hash brown casserole?!!! Maybe I need to sample that.

Todd, great to have ya stop by. Look forward to hearing more of the trip.

Kimmie, :sunny: just for you. Glad you stopped in to share your words of wisdom. I really really hope you can find that good “fit” here soon again.

Paula, so glad to hear that things are better. It sounds like Father’s Day was a busy one but in a good way. Is Chris working with his Dad or just at the same place? It is good news to hear he has something full time for sure.

Hey Todd, yeah I know long post. :surfweb: shut up! :teeth:

:sunny:

Wow, for what is normally such a slow moving thread, there is a lot of catch up on.

I'm proud of James; it sounds like he has got a good head on his shoulders. :thumbsup2

Paula, congrats on being able to let go a bit. I don't know if I would be able to or not ;) but it sounds like the best thing. ::yes:: I'm glad the kids are both doing well.

The only kind of moose I have eaten is chocolate  so I hope they have a good time! They just opened the first gator hunting season here for a limited number of hunters.

Sorry about the increased medication Betty.

Now to while away the afternoon... :hourglass

third time to post and stupid server busy have lost all my ketchup.

So you all will have to wait for my witty replies to all the sap.

gotta go return a bunch of stuff to buy more floor tiles.

but don't worry I'll be back!!

Betty, I hope the doc told you it usually takes a while to tweak those coumadin doses! Mine went from a ptt of 8 (too low) to 60 in the space of a week. Add klutz to that and it makes for some interesting situations. Hang in there-it WILL get easier.

Alan, :rotfl:. As is typical, you don't miss ANYTHING!

Bethie, I feel for you, girl! Sounds like someone needs to request vacation for July 2nd (and those meals will come in handy, lol).

Lily, when I actually get home to look at the book, I'll post that recipe!

Sherry, are microwave s'mores your favorite because one of the ingredients goes boom in the microwave? :teeth:

Paula, Sounds like you've got all the stuff worked out, but woah, one stressful week. Glad it's over for you! So, who's gonna dress all that moose? Any butchers near you that do it?

John, bring those proud papa moments here anytime! I'm sure the news has warmed your heart and melted some of the sadness that James has gone away.

Weird feeling, DISing from work. I'm here 14 hours today, so this is my 10 minute me time, lol! I need to get back to payroll and printing flyers for grand opening.

And hubby brag: he came back in to make my employee meals-not only do I not have to clean up after dinner, I don't even cook ones I made this month.

suzanne

Suzanne, the doctor doesn't seem to be as alarmed as I am. Yes, it does take time but I am an impatient little poop when it comes to having my body do its thing......and this is coming from a diabetic!!!

Tara, I need to think of some type of sappy nickname for you. You have caught the attention of Betty Sketty.

alabamaalan, how are you doing? Hope the afternoon goes fast for you.

Lily, yes I will be empty nesting in 2 months. I am looking forward to it but yet I am dreading it. My days will be filled subbing at the high school, so I can get my teen fix but the evenings will be very lonely. My DH is a workaholic and that is when I will be desparate. I am thinking about taking a community ed class to refresh my sign language skills. I am also planning a second trip to WDW in November but I am taking my DH with me to enjoy this trip and he will not be working.

So is anyone going to be at WDW August 7,8,or 9?

Sherry, how are you doing? I know that there is some type of superstition about burying a saint (Joseph?) and it makes the house sell quickly...wonder if a neighbor does it if it works also?

Not much going on here except a teen cookout tonight at my house. Guess there will be some hungry kids here.

In some ways I found it difficult to find my niche in YaYa land and to this day, some days I still struggle to determine whether I "fit" all that well. Why? I haven't a clue! Because I'm a twit I guess. LOL! :p

I am so sorry I have missed the melting and reformation of our Ya Yas. I too am most greatful for everyone here in Ya Ya Land. You have given me the opportunity to make special friends and I truly appreciate every Ya Ya for what is brought here.

Sappy story: Our rebirthing reminds me of the the Harry Potter series. Albus Dumbledore has this fantastic bird, a phoenix, that rekindles and continues onward in its magnificance. We will continue onward too!

Beth's grandpa died on Father's day. She will be home on Thursday. This was Ella's only living great grandparent. We got a good amount of time just didn't see the reptiles or the monkey's....well, except for the two who were with me! Shhh...I don't think the Elder's realized they were called old!!

rut row raggy!!!

Well, I think that catches me up!!

I'm going to a whole me post next so be prepared!!! :teeth:

Now all about me :teeth:

We had fun at the play ground today. We packed a cooler and schlepped it all to the park. The boys had a blast running around and being wild. Ethan was a little timid at first to leave me but pretty soon he took off and was a big man on the play ground. We stayed for about 3 hours and then came home. I threw Jarrod in the bath, put Ethan to bed and then I laid down on the couch to watch tv. it was a good afternoon.

then Jarrod went to dad's house for a couple of hours while the rest of us went and returned stuff to the ahrdware store. We bought too much of some stuff and then bought some things that we didn't really need and so we returned enough to get more floor tiles, more stripper, and floor transition pieces. I actually finished the top step with the metal piece that goes over the edge of the top step. It looks very nice if I do say so myself!!! heheh

I found out the other day that i don't need to rent a miter saw because my brother has one in his garage left from my uncle. So I will borrow that when I get around to cutting the baseboards again.

I'm going bowling tomorrow morning with my old ladies group. Then out to lunch with them. then in the afternoon Jarrod and i go to counseling. I guess I get to tell the counselor all about Jarrod trying his hand at shaving last week and his zoo meltdown. Then i will get the fridge pulle dout and work behind it. I have to get it all done before 5 pm on thursday...so I'll have roughly 24 hours to get the area behind the fridge free of old flooring, stripped, sanded, and tile down...oh sheesh no problem!! I can do it! Actually I'm not worried...much! I want it done before I go bowling thursday night because I will be gone all day friday too.

Okay, my carpal tunnel is acting up after all this posting so I'm gonna go!! have a good night gang!!!

*sigh* ....after reading all this sappy stuff here (BTW Thanks for the compliment about the pix, Kimmy :thumbsup2 !) I was just about to really start cryin' my eyes out, until I came upon THIS:

....then, I almost peed my pants.... :rotfl2: !!

(Hmmm, :scratchin:, can't figure out why it didnt' print, but I was referring to Alan's "Super Dad" pic.... :lmao: )

Tara,

We are twins of different mothers-I always say Rut Roh!

I was wrong-it was 15 hours, and tomorrow's more of the same. Assistants GM is here from Columbia-I'm going to get home tomorrow and jump into a gallon sized comfort and ginger ale!

Betty, you've got to be the one who's worried. That's how my last clot got taken care of so quick.

back tomorrow...gotta reply to a few emails.

Suzanne

Long day today and I'm pooped. Would rather just sit and listen to ya'll, but must respond to a few.....

Alan, I meant to tell you that those pix of your girls were positively superb!!! I believe Miss Lela could be a model and Miss Abigail has the most infectious grin! Their dresses were gorgeous and your Father's Day shirt is too cool!

Hang in there, Betty, while everything settles out and your metabolism adjusts to the new meds and all. And PLEASE, stay away from anything sharp!! Keeping the prayers and PD flowing for ya. What dates in Nov. will you be at WDW? Is it maybe EARLY in the month??!! Cuz we could have one heck of a meet on the 1st, with the number of us who will be there!!! Oh, and you're absolutely right--Kimmie + oven = :firefight (although....some of those guys look mighty good in a pair of suspenders--maybe we SHOULD let her cook, just so we can call the FD!)

Whoo-hooo on the good day at the playground with the boys, Tara!! Glad to hear they were able to run off a little of their energy and give you a chance to enjoy the fresh air without having to be doing yardwork! Lunch with the girls sounds like a well-deserved treat for yourself--enjoy!!

John, I just loved your recap of James' first day at school! Absolutely amazing!!! You and Sue have obviously done good at bringing that boy up, that's for sure. You deserve to be proud!

Paula, I can certainly feel your pain with Alyssa! So hard to let go when all you want to do is fix it and make it all better. Glad to hear she's not moping over Ryan, at least. And Chris is working at a job he likes?!! That's wonderful!! Now, is he actually working WITH his dad, or just for the same company? Surveying isn't something you can just pick up, either, is it? Maybe it will help him see how important his education is to his future. Sorry about the work snafu, but glad the co-worker was kind enough to split the shift with you. When will the moose stew be ready? I'll be there with fresh biscuits to go with!!!

Suzanne, it sounds like that job is working out quite well for you! Sweet gesture on hubby's part and letting you out of KP at home! Had to settle for Chick-Fil-A here tonight, cuz it was our church's fundraiser night there. Looking forward to trying the Italian Chicken on Thursday, I think!

So, whose pic am I missing tonight, kimmar? I just get the "Image Temporarily Unavailable" sign. What are you up to now that you've completed the work on your masters?

 to ya, Lily. Hope you are managing to keep your head above water at work. I know your wogging must be an excellent stress reliever!

Laundry and cleaning staring at me too, Sherry. Sigh....it never ends, does it? You're headed for the House of Mouse soon, aren't you?

OK, ran out of toothpicks and my eyes are gettin' too heavy to hold open. Good night and God bless! :grouphug:

Finished most of my cleaning. I still have to do the bathroom, but that will have to wait until tomorrow.

Beth, no, we've decided to postpone our trip. :( Since we needed to get the work car, we thought it best to wait. So, we decided to hold off until next summer.

Suzanne, micro s'mores are just so much fun to make. :teeth: And, yes, I do love when things blow up! :woohoo:

Tara, glad you had fun at the playground.

My SIL is coming in tomorrow from FL for a wedding (Junior's cuz) on Saturday. She'll be here for a week. :bounce:

Hi y'all... I think I'm back. I needed to step away from the computer and the DIS for a while. I woke up this morning and decided I couldn't stay away much longer :teeth:

Sherry, you really made me laugh at the chocolate chip cookie comment. I swear I can't go anywhere now w/o bringing them. I always offer to make something else and my friends won't let me :p

No lewd comments here Betty... though I am sure you can do lots with those magic hands of yours ;) Btw, you brought up the whole elder Ya Ya thing... have I made it there yet? Or will I always be the Baby?
Sorry about the bloodwork too... I hope they get that figured out soon!

mmm... smores....

Bethie, I am so sure you could sell that to my friends who scrap. I just know if I start, I'll never stop. I have too many pics and like Betty, not too creative!
I'm in for a road trip... haven't done one in a long while!!!!!

Alan :teeth: you are a brat!

Lily, that was a great analogy with the Pheonix. I do hope that you can come out from that swamp. I bet things are rough now that your co-worker is gone.

You know, when I read Kimmie's post, I thought she said "Quick Klutz" and I thought... how fitting :teeth: :duck:
Okay I'm a hug klutz too... how many people do you know fall down the stairs as much as I seem to... with laptop in hand too!!!

John, reading all about James made me smile. I think he'll do just great! Oh and I'll give some credit of the good planning on what to have in college to you! My dad helped make sure in life I knew exactly what to take. I was the only one on my floor with a full tool set. And I was one of the few with lots of duct tape. I'm sure he'll do great while he is there!

Busy week you had there Paula! I hope you won't have to work that long in a long time! Glad that things are looking up at home for Alyssa. Situations like that are always rough on everyone! Good luck to Chris with the new job and to your DH with the hunting ;) that is soo cool he got in to finally hunt :)

Wow Suzanne, that is a long day at work! I dont' blame you for the 10 minute break. Sweet of your DH to get everything for you for supper :) I hope the next work day like that won't feel too long

Oh Betty, no on the August trip, but some of us are going at the end of Oct... maybe you ought to go the last week of Oct through the first weekend of Nov ;)

Tara :rotfl: That whole post had me cracking up!!!!! Trust me, I think Kimmie and I BOTH have enough twittiness in us that you could steal some and we'd still be okay :teeth:
Glad you guys had a good day at the park! And yay for the saw you can borrow. Never rented one, but imagine they wouldn't have been cheap

No clue what pic you posted, but since it said temp unavailable and you said something about Alan, I presume he has lost his mind again for a while??? ;)

Sherry sorry you had to postpone the trip :(

To answer a few things a couple people mentioned.

I do have pics of the bathing suit... it's teal, 2 piece and rather similar to what I had previously. It's a bit more "secure" on me as well which I like. Of course showing pics of me in a suit isn't something I always love doing... so maybe today I'll take some just on my bed.
And Alan, that means the suit alone on my bed... not me ;)

Cell phone has not been bought and instead of narrowing the search down, I actually added to it. I went from 3 phones and two brands, to 4 phones and 3 brands. I have a lot more research to finally do!

I meant to ask you Beth about the deal you got on your Dell, but I forgot to and we just ordered mine. Luis gets an employee discount with Dell so I will have a cute little 12.1" widescreen coming my way in a week!
What type did you wind up with for Dave?

I should go... Mt. Laundry has piled up here as well. Lots to fold

Good morning all.....

To those of you that asked about Chris' job - he is out with a survey crew all day long - I'm sure that he is picking things up quickly as he does have amazing math skills (always got in trouble for doing the problems in his head rather than showing his work). Although it's only a summer job I am glad it's not a "mindless" one and at the very least it may motivate him to work harder in his senior year. My husband is a designer - basically takes the survey info and "makes things fit" - subdivisions - commercial spaces - septic systems - you name it. On Chris first day when they got home my husband said to him "was it hot outside today?? Because I was nice and comfortable in the office" :rotfl:

And.....for the moose questions - I asked the same thing - - they will have it quartered there and butcher it themselves when they get home (he answered confidently). My brother in law has a farm with about 20 beef cows so he has all of the necessary "equipment".

Betty - how did the cookout go?? Lots of laughs I bet!!
Tara - I envy your home-remodeling skills - and so very much enjoy the boy-tales......When did my Chris grow up????
Sherry - boo-hiss on a cancelled vaca.
Beth - I think I missed the whole issue of that new scrapping aparatus - perhaps you could enlighten me?
Lily - hope you are having a good day.
Elaine - Mt Laundry!! Welcome to my life!!

Alyssa is at orientation today at The University of Rhode Island. She will meet with her advisor - choose classes - et her student ID - etc. She printed out an unofficial transcript to bring along and it was really nice to see "Deans List" for both semesters last year. Fingers crossed that she is ablt to rmm with her friend.

Well I spent yesterday afternoon playing "chase the woodchuck". My husband in his infinate wisdom decided that he didn't like how the fence looked around the garden and "we don;t need one anyway" - so he took it down. Just the opportunity that Mr Wodchuck was looking for - Hello Salad Bar!!!! He seems to completely enjoy the romaine and leaf lettuce and has moved on to the swiss chard..... So.....I tie the dog out on her run - tell her she needs to be a "watch dog".....she does not grasp the concept.....or more likely takes me too literally - she lays there and watches Mr Woodchuck eat.... Mr Woodchuck is a smart fellow - husband came home and got out the shotgun - haven't seen him since - :rotfl2:

I hope you are all having a great day.....I'm off to :laundy:
I'll be back later!!
