Morning Ya Yas!

Elaine, take a nap!
teeth.gif
Sorry about the wrists.

Suzanne, great for a day off with DH! I'm sure you need it. Enjoy the time ro refresh.

Beth, I hope you do get that break there. You certainly have been going like the Energizer Bunny! Hope you get those needed moments of rest.

John, bad botha! Making Alan do all that witty work. I'm thinking you're right there with him.

Back I go to my happy work place...(I wish)

Morning!

Major storms came through here last night so I had the laptop unplugged. Didn't want a repeat of last summer. :rolleyes1

SIL made it fine, although flight was delayed due to rain.

Beth, enjoy your day off. Yay for the other manager helping you out!

Suzanne, hope you and DH enjoy your day off. I agree....who wants to smuggle me into their luggage when they go to the world? :teeth:

Betty, great major for your DD.

Elaine, hope the wrists feel better soon.

Hi Lily!

Good :sunny: Morning All....

Betty - my god - we might be related - :goodvibes - Alyssa and Allison - Chris and Chris - yikes!!! Alyssa's college last year was 2 1/2 hrs away - this year - 1 hr. And....if it's not coincidental enough already......when deciding on a major Alyssa was very torn between Accounting and Education - she chose Accounting.

Beth - :thumbsup2 on a partial day off - will you ahe to put in hours at the convention as well?

Suzanne - :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2 - you both have the day off??? Don't go too crazy!! You had me laughing so hard about my husband practiicing on the woodchuck.

Elaine... :flower3: hope you can "wrest the wrists" today.

Lily - a happy work place? I've never heard of such a thing>.... :lmao:

Alyssa made if fine thru orientation yesterday - as suspected she didn't stay for the entire thing - she's not a "motivational activities" type of girl - just get-me-in - get my ID and schedule and get me out. She got 2 business classes - an accounting class and business computing - other classes are French, philosophy and animal science - quite the array. I t was good to hear that she loves the campus and is really excited about going there.
I got an e-mail from my husband at about 5:30 last night telling me that he would be late because Chris was still out working an hour away - when Chris called to tell him he said "don't worry I'll just go across the street and have a beer while I wait" - :rotfl2: Life is good!! Chris learned how to use the surveying "instrument" yesterday - he is really enjoying the job.
I think today will be a :laundy: and reading day - I'm almost done Wicked.

:grouphug: and  - have a great day everyone!!

Suzanne, I would be happy to meet you at WDW.......lets see who else may want to venture to meet me. You are a very courageous girl!!!

Paula, we are related you silly girl, we are Ya Yas. Just for the record my Christopher is 21 and is a sports management major at Ohio University. How about your Chris?

OK, this is short because I am going to go away for 2 days but will check in when I get back. Allison and I are doing a road trip to OU and then tomorrow we hit SSU for placement exams.

Talk to you all when I get back.

Good morning, Ya Ya Family!! OMG, I had no idea how tired I was!! It's kinda overcast today and when I woke up, I was wondering if I'd managed to sleep past my usual wake up time of 7AM. Opened my eyes and the clock read 9:22!!!! I guess I needed that rest!

Other good news I forgot to tell ya'll, Our #3 person at the store, the Events Specialist (responsible for the classroom, classes, crops, parties, etc) has applied for the SM position. She's 25, extremely artistic and creative and VERY good at delegating/managing people. I have no problem working UNDER her, although I have my doubts about her ability to stay on top of all the paperwork and other facets of the job. Well, she is now the Acting SM and salaried and I get to go back to being the Assistant!!! Whoo-hooooo! THAT'S why the DM called the other store and demanded they help me out next week--they don't want to have to pay me overtime! The next 4 weeks will be fun, cuz I'm not going to just do what needs to be done, I will let her assign the responsibilities where she likes. She needs to find out if she's really capable of seeing that EVERYthing is done.

Hmmm, Paula's finishing up Wicked........sounds like a good idea! I need a good book to relax with today while I, too, do :laundy: Let the machines work and I'll join ya with my feet up, Paula!! Glad to hear Alyssa sounds so positive about the new school year. Was she able to get her friend as a roommate? Classes sound good, as an accountant for 30+ years, I can attest to the fact that she needs a little variety in her schedule. Those other classes will help to keep her from being buried in the numbers! And Chris' job sounds like it just might be one of the best things he ever did! Learning surveying and all ON the job is wonderful for him! I'm so glad they aren't just making him be the gopher and tote the equipment!

Sher, I have a couple of extra suitcases available for stowaways. I'm sure you can parcel out the rest of the family amongst all who are going to WDW in Oct/Nov!! Smart move to unplug the laptop during the storms. We lost one of our 5 registers at the store during a storm a few weeks ago. Weird how it fried 1 and left the rest alone! Glad to hear your SIL made it despite the rain delay.

I sure hope your work place CAN be happy for ya, Lily. Try singing the 7 Dwarfs song--they sound pretty happy about going to work and then coming home! And Mary Poppins' "Spoonful of Sugar" song--there's that line in it about the robin building his nest "He knows a song will move the job along" So Sing, Lily, Sing!!!

Laine, sounds like it might be time to get those wrists checked by a Dr. Might be able to fix the problem before it gets so bad that surgery would be required. Carpal Tunnel is sooooo common nowadays! Glad to hear your dad is joining you at WDW!!! Do we need to increase the party size on the ADR for Sunday nite?

Whooo-freaking-hoooo on a day off WITH the hubby, Suzanne!!! How often does THAT happen anymore?!! And you have a CM consultant on staff??? :rotfl: Good luck resisting the scrapping bug! Just don't let her tell you CM is the ONLY way to go--do whatever YOU like!

Speaking of whoo-freaking-hoooo....... Jellybean!! Drop in for a visit again soon, I miss you!

Doggone, I wish we could extend our WDW dates so we could meet up with ya, Betty! And the coincidences with you and Paula---I know we're all sistahs under the skin, but you guys might be twins!! Kudos to your DD on her choices for her major. Lord knows we need good people to help get our kids off to a good start in their school careers!!

Well, I guess it's time for me to hit the shower and get some laundry started. I'll check in again later. Love ya'll!!! :grouphug:

You are a very courageous girl!!!

With 40 just a few weeks away, this made me feel REALLY good! :cool1:

Morning, all. I did the same thing as Bethie, I slept until 9:30! Think we needed it, girlfriend!

Betty, enjoy that trip. Take lots of pictures, 'kay?

Bethie, she and I talked about the other scrapping places-we've got one that is overwhelming to the newbie. I didn't find it too bad, because I was used to the retail thing, but I can see where it'd be a problem. It's fine when you know what you're looking for (I wanted their Disney stuff). CM has a cute Mickey book, but I'm focused on scrapping Mom's recipes for my sisters for Christmas. Yay on new acting SM!

Paula, sounds like the job is a good fit for Chris. I'm thinking it will help the father/son situation. Alyssa's got the right idea-give me my stuff, I'll figure it out. :) Tell DH to go practice on gophers and squirrels, then that moose will seem HUGE!

Sherry, glad you didn't have a repeat. Zapping the 'pute is not a good thing.

Lainey, would you like some neoprene splints? I used them with store setup and that was the first time in two years I've needed them-surgery was a success. Hope they feel better, I know how hard that one is!

Lily, just whistle while you work, lol. Any way you can get some decent music in your swamp? some good 70's?

Funny thing, I called stepdad for Father's Day. Monday morning, phone rings and he asks if I just called. Nope, last night-but we end up spending over a half hour on the phone. I realized that this happens every time I call him. It's cute, but now I feel bad that we live 45 minutes away. Mom had no problem with making the drive. He's not comfortable driving more than 10 minutes from home. :(

Not much on tap for today-have to do some grocery shopping (hmmm, wonder why we don't do much of that anymore?), hit Home Depot for more paint to do the office and find out about renting those inflatable furniture movers. The armoires from the Poly we got from Mouse Surplus each weigh about 300 pounds. It was a bear moving them last time!

I'm figuring if I rest up today, we'll do something good on Sunday.

Suzanne

Well crap... I had a post written out, but my brace I have on had me accidentally click a button and kill my post

I'll try again later

Betty - my Chris is 17 - limping thru high school!! haha.
Elaine - I noticed that KImmar only offered a MESSAGE from the cabana boy - I guess a MASSAGE would have been too much - hahaha :rotfl2:

:worship: This is for you late risers.....you know who you are.....

Gotta go make some noise - Mr Woodchuck is back.....

*sigh* this is what happens when I can't sleep... I read the thread, hope that I have energy to do a ketchup-like post. Then of course I try and it fails miserably.

Maybe I'll get to it after the message from dorkboy :rotlf:

(nice catch Paula... I would've missed it otherwise ;))

no time to do proper ketchup. last night I pulled out the fridge only to nick the ice maker hose, had to fix that this morning and then knocked a wheel off the fridge and now it is being held up by a board...I guess if I were in Alabama I would put a cinder block under it. :lmao:

floor is down, now i'm headed to the doc office to pick up stuff for mom and then to bowling tonight. I'll check back in tonigt
\
hugs to all,
tara

Well, I might as well pop in and say hello. Since there have been so many excellent ketchups I will just add:

Paula - French, Philosophy, and Animal Sciences? Can she get bonus points if she combines all of those classes into one project?

Beth, I hope your friend gets the position at work.

All of y'all are killing me with your hours, scrapping, and everything else you do. *whew*

Suzanne  it's tough when things change like they are with your stepdad.

And now then:

I've rather suspected the same thing. :scratchin: But his wife may read these boards :teeth:

Well, okay..that and the fact he has more class.

Okay, I saw the wig pics too, never mind.

And then your trailer would be off balance.

I have just a couple of minutes until bowling so i thought I would try and ketchup some...

DD is majoring in Early Childhood Education (K-3) and will be working on a deaf studies certificate.

I would like to meet a few Ya Yas while our time at WDW overlap......hey what great planning, we are both at EPCOT resorts.
oh how cool Betty!! My bs is in Deaf Education. I taught deaf children for 12 years before i was unceremoniously dumped into Learning Disabled. I loved teaching deaf kids and if I ever get the chance to do it again I will be right there!!! Congrats!!!

Suzanne hope you are enjoying your day off. We've just had another make and take food place open here...smat somthing or other.

Beth yeah on the other person coming over to help you some so you can have a day off!! I kinda figured once payroll saw how much ot you were doing they would balk at that!!

Lily....so was it a happy work place today?

Elaine...sorry about the wrists...mine have been hurting since I started this home remodleing thing

Sherry....I'm sorry about your trip. If we get to go this year i'll take you!!

John...what are we going to do with you :sad2: We thought you would be the one discouring him...not encouraging him!!

Paula...love your "watch" dog!! Sounds like mine!! She prefers to sniff strangers to death!! Glad things went well with Alyssa and her registration. I'm not into that motivational crap either. To me its more time waster for those of us who have real things to do and energy waster for those high strung types who feel the need to do it!! (add that to my anti sap personality :teeth: )

betty have a safe trip to OSU!!!

Beth...woohoo! on the replacement people!! Sounds like things are really going to help you!! Any word on when they are going to put your store down here?

Suzanne...glad you got to talk to your step dad, too bad that he doesn't like to travel. good luck on the inflatable thingys!! I seem to spend an awful lot of time at HD too!!

Elaine...sure it was the brace....hmm...me thinks you were taking the easy way out today!! :rotfl:

Kimmar.....who is that funny looking fella and why would I want a message from him let alone a massage!!

Paula....thank you for bowing down to those of us late risers!! My oldest was with his dad and the youngest went to bad at 10 so he was still asleep at 9 when I got up!! woohoo!!

Tara....so you knocked a wheel off or your fridge AND punctured your ice maker hose. what did you do for an encore? did you by chance forget to put sunscreen on Jarrod when you took him to his playdate knowing that he was going to be in a pool for 4 hours?? ::yes:: Man I bet you feel like a complete failure as a mom and a carpenter ::yes:: Maybe bowling will be better tonight....then again you could just as easily land your ball in the ceiling when you forget to let go of it...or you could drop it on your toe, or you could......oh well you get the idea!! :lmao:

Alan...you are SOOOO lucky a saint chose you!! Otherwise your kids might turn out like me!!! :rotfl: and how did you know my trailer was listing...have you been looking at my backside??

Okay, gonna go get meds for this PMS headache and maybe some ice cream and then go bowling. I'll check back tonight!!!

hugs,
tara

good evening,

bowling sucked royally! yucky game!!!

I had one old guy who hit on me one night pointed out tonight how much gray hair I have.

The guy on my team pointed out how I bowled better last week with my low cut top on (sexy in his words) and tonight I was just "cute" because I had on a WDW t-shirt and baggy jeans. So he surmised that this is the reason for my lousy performance!!! :confused3 :rotfl:

Headed to bed. Have to get up in time to go through my scrapping stuff and get to the store by 10 am. Astrid said she was going to beat me there and I want to see if she can do it!!

good night gang!!

tara

Morning, all! Yep, we got the bad weather last night that was in Ohio the other day. Sad to see in the news today of a firefighter who drowned near Cleveland trying to rescue some teens whose jeep got stuck in the flash flooding. Haven't heard anything like that here, but power is out in little pockets all over the place. Thunder and lightning woke me up about 1:30 AM and the last time I looked at the clock it was almost 3. Hate when I can't get back to sleep like that!

Sorry I didn't make it back here yesterday, I didn't get my day to veg, either. Spent most of the day on the phone and then visiting with a cute police officer. Seems some "nice" person managed to get into the office at my store and helped themselves to my Disney Visa card and my debit card. Very strange, they had to open my purse, take out the wallet, open the wallet and then search for the debit card, cuz it was behind my Costco card. They left my American Express and the cash, too!! Go figure. Whoever it was then headed straight across the parking lot to the Toys R Us, where they spent $620.48 and then over to WalMart where they spent another $461. They tried again at another WalMart and a Gas Mart, but both cards had already shut down. I found out when the Disney Visa fraud prevention folks called me to find out if I had authorized a number of recent high-dollar purchases. I am amazed at how quickly they shut down the card, considering I had plenty of credit limit available. One purchase was all that got thru and they've assured me that it has already been removed from my balance. That one purchase at Toys R Us overdrew my checking account, so I really lucked out since there was no more for them to try to spend. So, I'm without a Visa or a debit card until the new ones arrive which really ticks me off since tomorrow is the day I can go to the scrapbook convention and buy new "toys"! So I gotta cash a check first and then hope I don't feel the need to buy some big ticket item!!
Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr!!!!!!

Suzanne, I hear ya about the Poly furniture weight!! We got a lamp from the Contemporary--I thought it was such a good deal at $35 until I saw how much it cost to ship it to me!! Darn thing ended up costing over $100!!! And it sure is nice not to have to do so much grocery shopping!! A little produce and dairy and we're out of there!! Gorgonzola Beef Filet tonight!

Tara, so that fella thinks the low cut top and tighter jeans helps ya bowl better, huh?! Hmmm.......I'm not quite getting the correlation. Oh, wait! Maybe they help you bowl better cuz he's so distracted, he can't bowl worth a darn??!! :rotfl: And the other guy who was so kind to point out your gray hair. Hope you have a great time scrapping today with Astrid!! Tell her I said Hi!

Laine, take it easy with that wrist and watch your clicking! Can't have you losing any more posts! You are missed around here!!

I miss Nancy, too ..... :sad1:

Oh, blast!! I gotta move!! I get to go see the cute PA for my follow-up on my knee at 8 and I haven't even dried my hair yet!! See ya'll tonight!! :grouphug:

:moped: Quick hello and good morning.....

Out to breakfast with my dad but just had to share this conversation from my house last night:

Jeffrey: Stay in the house and don't maky any noise - that thing is goin' down!
Paula: (after hearing 4-5 shots taken from the upstairs bathroom window and watching "that thing" scamper away each time) Good thing moose are bigger!
Jeffrey: the sights on this gun must be off.
Paula: mmmhmm......
Jeffrey: I think I got him the last time ....he walked off pretty slowly.....

:rotfl2: :lmao: :rotfl2: :lmao: :rotfl2:

I was told to be "on watch" again today - just in case.....

Better ketchup later......

Beth - Thanks for the heads up on the news about the Cleveland firefighter. I didn't watch the news last night and had not heard that report. How very sad. I will say a prayer for the family.

It took me extra long to get home last night. That's what I get for answering a "How long does your commute take" thread on the DIS. Instant karma got me good. My former boss left work an hour ahead of me and kept phoning me with traffic reports telling me what roads to avoid. I got to within 1/2 mile of my house and had to take a detour. I got within 3 blocks of my house and had to turn around. I finally got home at 7PM.

Sue is now the neighborhood meanie. It was raining so hard that our street drains got clogged with debris and started to flood. Apparently the neighborhood kids were rafting down the street and then down between our house and the neighbor's. Sue was knee deep in water searching for the drain. She finally managed to find the drain and clear it. One parent up the street yelled "You kids might as well come home now. The fun is over." Fun??? My basement was on the verge of flooding because the crap from up the street was plugging the drain. Sorry to spoil your fun, kids.

What a night.

Good morning everyone! I still have the brace on today but it is more of a precaution than a feeling like I need it. I'll probably do that all weekend too just in case.
However, yesterday we had some terrible storms blow through here. Finally at about 5PM I gave up on it. I just shut my computer down for the remainder of the night. So that's where I was ;)

Lily, I do hope things perk up at work for you. I hope it isn't too bad for you still. Oh I tried that nap thing like three times yesterday. All that managed to happen was I lazed around and didn't get much done :p

Sherry, don't blame you for shutting down due to the storms as well. Did you get any of the nasty ones last night? It seems we are in for a lot of that coming up. Cooler temps and lots of storms.

Paula, so glad that Alyssa made it through orientation as well. I was a bit like that when I went through. Glad that she loves the campus and sounds like she got some good classes too! Oh your story about Chris and your DH just made me laugh!!!
Did you enjoy Wicked?

Betty, I can't wait to hear about how the orientation for your DD went! I hope she enjoyed it :)

Bethie, most of the time now my wrists aren't a problem Carpal Tunnel is most likely, but I also managed to hurt this wrist while skiing and dancing (don't ask) and so it hurts just easier now than average. But the good news is since I quit my job, I haven't had to wear this brace much. Shows that lots of computer time isn't good.
I've just been doing tons of research lately online for myself and my dad for their trip to WDW!

Suzanne, 40 can't possibly make you anything other than a girl!!!! After all having the energy to run through WDW the way we have in the past, that makes you really young to me ;)
Thanks for the splint offers. I have three different ones here at home. Hardly touch them. I could only find one though so I am wearing the "heavy duty" one even though I think it is overkill :p
Big  for you and your stepdad... that is so sad when that happens after one spouse dies :(

Tara, sorry about the fridge woes! I hope you won't have to have an Alan style fridge for long :p And sorry that the bowling didn't go very well either. Maybe you need to dress sexy more often though :p
I ought to bonk you for the wrist comment there. I've done it three times today already (look at the number of posts I've done previously though ;)) and realized that I need to just lift my right hand up a wee bit more than usual. Seems to keep me from accidentally hitting the control key or whatever I am hitting that helps me to highlight all my stuff and then type right over it so it is gone. fun stuff :p

Bethie, yep those storms were something else around here. We had tons of trees down in addition to flash flooding. We even had a car catch on fire right in front of a news crew due to a tree hitting a power line. The worst for us was several officers being struck by lightening while helping out during some sort of special olympics type of festivities :(
But... I am so sorry about your stuff being stolen. That sounds quite intentional and rather bold of them to do all that. Do they know who bought allt he stuff yet? I am just so glad they caught it that quickly!!!!! It can be a pain (like when Luis got a call/had to return to reinstate the card after we did go shopping and it was declined in a store) but I would rather be safe than sorry!
Good luck with the follow up appt!

Not sure what is in store for me today. I think I will attempt to work on prepping the room for painting and I need to run a couple of errands today. Otherwise nothing too exciting.

before I go... I miss Nancy & JRKaren too :( I never want to push people to post, but I do miss you both!
