Yay...another package has arrived. That's 3 for 3....any others about to start a journey.

Busy days....ype, here I sit. Took forever to hand out YCE names. I am not dressed or packed

Sure after wedding reception ...go for it. That is one that M'Cori's mother is doing....surprise her :teeth: Geoff and M'Cori will be there. Their plane doesn't leave until 10:30 pm.

Yep, Kimmie, only money. What do I need that for?? ;)

John--keeping you in our prayers...

Deena--I'm feeling better..how about you??

Nancy--I am really regretting my girls getting older... :earseek:

Sherry--YAY for you getting your basket..got some great stuff..

Paula--where's spring?? :sad2:

Pam--roadkill brown paper bag lunch? :rotfl2:

Everyone else-- :wave2:

I forgot to tell you about something I saw in Texas that made me think of Pam. I saw a stuffed armadillo with a badge on it's belly of a road with one of those no signs through it. It was the no roadkill armadillo. It was hysterical. There was even a book about it, too.

JellyrollsKaren

:moped: Busy busy day here again. Never even sat down at my computer last night so I know I'm way behind on ketchup. Mad love to one and all :grouphug: :moped:

I am SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO glad I am a never-ending source of amusement for all of you YaYa heads.....

Shep - don't knock the Roadkill Brown Paper Bag Lunch until you've tried it! :cool1:

Nancy - Kim is just saying it's only money because she only has one son!! She doesn't realize that the girl's parents will figure she can pay more..... :rotfl2:

TC - Didn't mean to ignore you - I'm added you to the prayer list. Sometime I need to discuss Methodist "politics" with you. Our minister is being reassigned and the Church is pretty broken up about it. :guilty: Tons of division and hurt feelings and anger. Our pastor is being really nice and non-judgmental.

Hi, Kristy!!!! :) Mad love to you, too!!

Elaine - yeah - hurt the mean old DIS! Hope you are feeling better - don't you know that step sliding gets harder as you get older???? :confused3

:rotfl: That sounds hysterical Karen :)
Yep...odd things make us think of Pam ;)

I am finally packed.....now I have 45 minutes to keep busy.
A bit nervous about finding someplace to park. My usual lot closed down :(

Not sure I can give you much input on the politics and policies of the United Methodist Church. The whole concept of itinerant pastors really had an impact on me as a child. It is a basic tenent of our denomination that was instilled by John Wesley. UM pastors have to take a vow of itinerancy when ordained (as I understand it). Fortunately for me, they don't have to take a vow of celibacy.

I've witnessed what you are describing from both sides of the fence. I guess as I grow older I understand why it is a good thing to keep mixing things up by moving preachers from charge to charge. But it doesn't make things any easier.

Yay!!!! Sherry got her package!!!!! I am so glad it made it there today and that you liked it all. Had fun shopping for ya! Glad you liked the B&BW scent... they were out of what I wanted in other scents and I really love this one myself :)

OH fun!!! Nancy, I love surprize people!!!!! ;) I hope you had a great trip too ::yes::

:drinking1 glad you are feeling better!

I agree, JRKaren, we want pics :teeth:

Howdy Kristy :wave2:

Pammy, I will be more careful next time I try to slide. You'd have thunked I could've learned after the last time... but nope... oh well ;)

:wave2: Hi John... actually your methodist talk reminds me of one thing I dislike about the Catholic church... getting a new priest is nice, but it is so hard/sad when you lose the ones you love.

Just less than 2 months now Kimmie
Don't tell me thaaaaat!! I'm not ready! I need a camera and socks and undies and... and... all kinds of stuff I can't remember right at the moment. Two months?! Okay help me... what kind of "So easy, even Kim could use it" kind of digital camera should I get?

Oh geez! I can't think about weddings. I barely got through paying for elementary school. Besides... I have cameras and undies to buy...

Let me get this straight...Kimmie is taking pics of her undies????

This isn't that kind of board!!!

Now, I'm a Southern Baptist boy myself, but I recall the Methodist preachers changing every few years.

You know, without being run off by the deacons the way we do it. :)

However, now that I am in Montgomery where Frazer UMC is, I notice the pastor has been there for a looooong time

I suspect the success and growth of that church has a lot to do with it. ;)

Drats!! I had the picture thread all ready to go and everything. :worried:

Fifty nine! Eeeep! Must go undie and camera hunting!! ...and makeup! ...and shorts. Sigh.

::yes:: ::yes::

We;ve been going to the Methodist Church for almost 8 years. I was born and raised in the Church of God. We picked this Church because of the Pastor. The Church was our Cub Scouts sponsor and the pastor is just amazing with the kids, as well as everyone else!

My son is extremely close to him. The pastor mentored him through 2 Scout religious awards, was a huge part of his Eagle Scout ceremony. He was also there for my DD during all of her friends deaths.

We all just adore him and his wife. The only good news is that he's being reassigned 1.5 hours away. :sad1:

Alan,
Of course I find your post after I post above.

That's what the Church of God congregation has a tendency to do, too - run the preacher off.

Our pastor has been at this Church for 16 years. I'm told that this is out of the ordinary for the Methodists - but, except for 3 members (guess who got him reassigned), the congregation did NOT want him to leave. And he only has 5 years to retirement..... :guilty:

Our Methodist senior pastor has been with the church for 15 years. I think she's really lead the growth and therefore will not be reassigned. However, I worry about our associate pastor. He's 30 and very cool, but the older congregation members do not like him. He's helped bring in MANY of the younger members of the church. If they move him, I'm not sure that we'll stay with that church.

Kristy-
That's interesting - see the 3 people who are making waves (they are in their 50s-60s) are pushing for the Contemporary Service. So we now have a Contemporary service at 9:00 am and a Traditional one at 11:00 am.

Our family prefers the Traditional - as does 85% of the congregation. Even the college students come for the 11:00 am service.

But these 3 are trying to force a combined service - and it's causing some major division in the Church.

We're about the same. We have 3 services. The low attendance contemporary one is at 8:20 and the two traditional ones are at 9:45 and 11:10. 9:45 and 11:10 always pull in the best attendance b/c of service type and timing.
