Every service at my church is contemporary. We have about 500 people/service. I think it's interesting that in your churches, more people like traditional.

Hi Everbody! As usual I'm a day late and several $$$$ short!

I want to thank Sherry again for the wonderful Spring package. It included lots and lots of goodies:
Orange egg shaped container w/a cute little bunny tote, Easter Kleenex, Peeps lip balm, "R" shaped sticky notes & easter pen. I also got a stuffed bunny basket w/Reeses eggs YUM, 2 blow-up easter egg shaped balls (thanks Sherry, Cam has enjoyed bopping me in the head with them) , another easter basket w/cute little stuffed duckie, pink photo album, neat striped flip flops, easter socks & egg candles. Oh, and a really cool Happy Easter door knob hangar. I loved every bit of it.

My exchange is almost complete and should go out Mon or Tues. There's a certain store I'm trying to get to. Oh and I also have to ready a certain something that I will be passing along to the next lucky exchange recipient. Hopefully, I'm not the last slow poke. I've just been having a time lately getting and keeping in gear. I must need some Geritol or something. Hopefully, one day I will get my act together again.

 puckerup: :rose:

Maybe a trip to Disney is needed?! Anyone going anytime soon? :teeth:

Let me get this straight...Kimmie is taking pics of her undies????

This isn't that kind of board!!!
Admit it... you do wish she'd do that ;)

Bonnie ya are too and ya know it!!!!

However KIMMIE!!!!!!!!! Lookie at my counter :p

I will say, Pam, that is awful he was run out so close to retirement. I know many priests who are able to stick it out with churches they like for that reason. I do like the continuity... however, I really like new people now and then. I will say at my church, out of like 5 or so priests, only 1 remains the same from when I started. There were two that had to move on that nearly made me cry when they left. Now it seems the silly pastor at my original church has been there since... goodness... before my mom died I believe... seems the good ones never stay long like that ;)

I will say though... all our masses are equally as contemporary and tradtional... well as contemporary as a Catholic church can be ;) So if I want another type, I have to go to a whole new church. Interesting to hear about others though.

Rose Mary, sounds like a great basket there!!! Good job Sherry!

Now I need to run... dinner, vacuuming and pinning my pants are done. I just need to press them & hem them, do the kitty litter, and maybe get some more ironing done. Not to mention bike and reading. Catch y'all later :)

Oh gee, wonder what Rose Mary will be passing on??? :rolleyes1

Bonnie - Contemporary has really, really loud music and pretentious coordinators..... they put a blurb in the Church newsletter stating that if anyone wanted to sing or do a dramatic piece during the Contemporary service, they could go through a simple "audition process". What the frug????

Most of the teens don't like the Contemporary service at all - including my two.

Elaine sneated!

That's our point, Elaine - 2 weeks before we got the news that he was being reassigned, there was a meeting and the 3 tried to oust the minister and it was shot down -- they say, ok, he's here until he retires. And then bada bing, bada boom...... :guilty:

The exact opposite is true at our church. Our contemporary service is on Saturday evenings because so many people complained that they were trying to mix contemporary with traditional once a month. The only people who show up at the contemporary service are the relatives of the musicians who play the music for that service, usually less than 20 people.

So I guess each church congregation is unique.

I got a lime green package in the mail today from a very special Ya Ya. Thank you Beth for my new toy. I can hardly wait to start making buttons with my brand new Mickey Head punch. You really made my day. :teeth:

Thank you, thank you, thank you!!!

Ow, Ow, Owwwwieeeeeeeee!!! Are we all turning into klutz's lately? We were at the gas station, got DS set up to pump
the gas and I decide to cross over the hose. My foot catches on DS's
lanyard that is hanging out of his back pocket and BAM I hit the ground
left knee first. When I came to, DS is trying to pull me up off the ground
by my arm saying "sorry, I'm so sorry, sorry mom are you hurt?" Well, yeah
my pride maybe..............................OUchie, Ouchie. Still haven't taken off my jeans to survey the damage to my knee. OUCH, whine, whimper, snork,
....................... :sad1:

Rose Mary, don't do that ;) I do hope you are okay though... I know that has got to hurt!

It is very interesting to hear how other churches work. I do think it is a shame how some things happens. I suppose if the core group of worshipers is strong though, a church can survive anything.
Actually I've been reading a book that is full of interesting tidbits about Catholics and how they worshiped... and I am shocked but delighted with what I am reading.

Yay, Bethie sent John something so he can make more buttons! I have to fix mine up before May I think ::yes::

I'm tired though, so I think I am going to bed. Catch y'all later!

Quiet here last night...

just saw our forecast for this week and next... lots of snow :( And we are already above average by several inches for snow as it is

Good Morning!

Today is Julian's b-day! :jumping1: My baby is 9 already! :faint:

Our church is contemporary. I really love it.

Rose Mary, ouch! Hope your OK. So glad you liked your basket. :)

JULIAN!!!
Sherry--although the boys may be growing up, you are not getting older--you're getting BETTER!! Hard to believe that it's been 9 years since you brought that sweetie into the world, though, isn't it?!

Thought I should drop in before I head into work, since it's been so busy lately and I haven't had a chance to post.

Gentle hugs going out to the "falling" Ya Yas. Hope your bumps and bruises are not too serious and you are quickly healed. I think it was more than enough having TC laid up as long as he was--ya'll don't need to make it a contest!

Interesting reading the church comparisons--quite a few of us Methodists, here! We have contemporary service at 8:15 and traditional at 9:30 and 11:00, on Sundays. We see all ages at the contemporary services, it's mostly those folks who have attended the Emmaus (Cursillo) retreats and their families. What I'm having trouble with is the church I attended for about 10 years, when my kids were growing up, has had the same pastor all this time. Yet, it's been 5 years since we moved here and have been at our current church and now we're on our 3rd pastor! Hopefully this one will stay for a good while--he's younger than the others and still has kids in school. But none of our changes have been instigated by any members of the congregation. Pam, I think it's just so sad that 3 members would have that much power! Reminds me of a church we attended when we first came to Virginia--one couple who were "charter members" held sway over the entire congregation. If they didn't like an idea, it didn't get done. Yet if they wanted something, it happened so fast your head would spin!

Laine, I just caught our forecast for here and we're expecting more snow, too. Sigh.......I'm finally getting tired of heavy sweaters and would really like to get back into warm weather clothes!! May 7th can't come soon enough!!

LOL!!! TC is going to be a punching fool for awhile!! Glad it arrived safely and I hope you have fun with it! Can't wait to see people at WDW sporting your handiwork!!

Great package, there, Rose Mary! Sounds like LOTS of fun for you! Hope you can kick your funk soon. Miss seeing you 'round here!

Oh geez......look at the time!! Gotta blast! Catch ya'll later!! Mad, mad love all around and :grouphug:

:sunny: Morning! I limped into work late but, I'm ok really. Just being a baby.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO JULIAN! :bday:

Ok, so when exactly is the girl's getaway? I may need to schedule a day or so to make sure ya'll are behaving  .

Lots of hugs, PD and good wishes to everyone.

Leaving early today so gotta hit it!

Happy Birthday Julian!!!!!

Beth, it isn't the sweaters I mind so much (I usually run cold anyway), but it's the blowing freezing cold air I want to get rid of!!!! And yep, May cannot get here soon enough!!!! I have my cute little shorts & skorts all ready along with my tank tops :teeth:

Rose Mary, I'll be there May 7-10th as will Bethie. Others will be here and there around that time (a little before, and a little after). We'll be arriving early in the morning on the 7th and leave late afternoon on the 10th. I'm actually taking the 6 am flight out of Columbus, so I am going to land before the parks even open :p

I admit I wish I could see what y'all consider contemporary vs. traditional. Or what the differences are. I know I come from the stick in the mud religion where a lot don't even like to sing one little note while in church. I really do warn some about how boring a mass can be. Did a lot of that for our wedding ;) However, we found a church on campus while at OSU that is just so much more interesting. There is a lot of residential population members (as opposed to student population) and I love it that we even have a drumset... no organ either :teeth: It's just more personal to me, in how it feels... like you are a part of it instead of just watching it.

Anywho... work stuff might keep me busy today... see y'all later :)

Yes!! The icy wind that invades every little nook and cranny and makes pumping gas positively painful!! Looking forward to the balmy breezes and blooming flower gardens, that's for sure!

RM, sooooooo glad to hear you aren't badly hurt!

There were a couple of families like that at our church. I say were because when things didn't go their way about 3 years ago with regards to the construction of a new sanctuary, they pulled up stakes and left. I guess they figured that the church would crumble without their leadership. Funny thing, though. The church has continued to thrive even without their meddling.

Now if we could just get those darn contemporary worship folks to split off and form their own church. :rotfl2:
(Just kidding)

HI everyone!!

I have enjoyed reading your comments aybout you r different religious services. For myself I was raised Catholic but am currently non-practicing. My faith is strong however I have problems understanding some of the "blind faith" issues - never question anything - and seeing people in church reciting like robots - with no feeling at all about what they are saying. I hope that doesn't sound like a cop-out.

I am getting really excited about the exchange - I hope to have mine sent out either tomorrow or Monday - Sherry and Rosemary - your packages sounded great.

I did get some reading in yesterday - I am reading a book on coping with ADD - trying to help my son as he battles the demons.

Elaine... :wave2:

Nancy - safe travels to you!!

Todd - Spring is here somewhere- I actually saw a robin yesterday - problem is that Winter didn't get the memo that it was time to leave!!

JR Karen :wave2:

Sherry - Happy Birthday to Julian.....!!!!!!!!!

John - :wave2: how nice that you got a surprise package.

Alan - :wave2:

Rosemary - feeling bad for you boo-boo knee - count me in as a member if the scraped-knee club!!

Beth - :wave2:

Woke up to Zero degee temps this morning - yes I said Zero !!!!!! It's a balmy 22 now. Picking up Christophers TV from the repair shop today then off to do more exchange shopping - "just one more thing ..one more thing......

Love and hugs to all!!

Bethie, don't forget frozen hair when it isn't entirely dry before you walk out... that's my favorite! I so am looking forward to pretty blossoms, warm weather and maybe some Star Wars :teeth:

Bad John!!! :p

Paula, that actually makes sense to me. Really quite a lot (being Catholic here). I am just lucky to have found a church that is not like that at all. When we say Amen, we mean it, and when we say allelu... oh wait, it's Lent, can't say the forbidden "A" word ;) but you know what I mean :p I almost would hate to move from there ever because I doubt I'd find another church like it that suits me.

I don't wanna work today... I got a lot done this morning but I feel myself already fizzling

Happy Birthday Julian!!
Todd still congested--actually that part seems to be getting worse. Thanks for asking.
David took the day off yesterday so I ran an errand to two then we took the kids to Burger King so they could play outside on the playground. We were all lazy last night. I watched Prime Time Live with that swimsuit model Petra. Her story of the Tsunami was so sad.

Frozen Hair?!?! Hmmm sounds interesting, lol.

No scandels in David's church. He is catholic and they do move the priests often. We are still looking for a church we both like. Since he is Catholic I have a hard time getting him to go to another church and Catholicism is not for me.
Rose Mary sorry to hear about your tumble. Hope your knee is better soon. Beth's shout out to all the falling yaya's had me picturing yaya's all over the country flying feet up into the air.
