Welcome to the WISH Biggest Loser 7 Challenge

Well, I just weighed in and am down 3 pounds! This is awesome...thanks to the board and the support here. I get to go see the movie yay.

Another week, another weigh in. I lost 2.4 lbs this week, which is more than I would usually be able to manage, for sure. It was tech week for Cabaret and I have been on the move constantly. I also passed up the chips, donuts, cookies, and soda that kept showing up on work-days last week.

My steps have been up this week, generally in the 10-12,000 range. On Wednesday, I also took the dog for a walk and ended up with 15,000 steps that day!:faint:

ETA QOTD: I will be running the show tomorrow night. DH will be home with the kids. There is a party afterward, but I kind of feel like it would be not so great to leave him home while I go out after the show on V-day.

I am way behind reading everyone's posts so I'm not even gonna try. It has been one of those weeks, I haven't had much going on out of the normal routine, but somehow I have had no extra time. The house is a mess and I have hardly gotten on the computer. I did manage to somehow loose 1.5 pounds this week though!
I am suprised yet again cause I certainly haven't done what I consider to be good this week. Haven't even worked out any. Don't get me wrong I'm not complaining. I am down 14 pounds total now which is awesome, but I really need to get back in gear this week or my laziness will catch up with me I'm afraid!
I hope everyone else had a good week also! I'll try to check in more often this weekend.:thumbsup2

Just a quick check in. I gained 0.7 pounds this week. :guilty: Congrats to everyone who is posting a gain, loss or weight neutral. Keep up the good work. And.....don't get discouraged.

I'm with My2Es, I've not been able to keep up with the thread the past few days. Sorry!

Somehow I'm down .8 this week, I thought for sure I'd gain. I wasn't able to exercise but I did make sure to get extra steps in every day so I'm sure that helped. I'm not complaining though...

I have a help request...I realized I'm at the point where I usually drop out. This week has been busy and I haven't been able to get the exercise in (although I did today) and ate Arby's 3 times and didn't make the best food choices at home. Monday afternoon I leave for a week at my parents to help them, major health issues going on there. It will be a busy busy week. So...in the past I would just say "Too hard, start when I get back" and then of course never start. I don't want to do that but feel myself slipping already. I was going to walk (they're in Orlando), and ask if anyone has any exercises that I can do on tile floors w/no equipment.:)

Thanks guys!

Jennz,

If your parents have a small step stool, or stairs in their house, you can do some basic step exercises. I've even used a thick phone in some hotel rooms.

Plastic water bottles (500mL) size make great hand weights. You can partly empty them if they feel too heavy. Hold them and practice some boxing moves (alternate hands punching forward) gets the heart rate up, especially if you keep your arms at shoulder height.

I'm crappy at pushups, so do wall pushups instead of regular ones, and those can be done anywhere.

You can do it!

I have my niece's birthday party- pizza and cake, but her parents are also trying to be healthier, so I'm hoping they will have some healthier snacks too.
My son is loving webkins, so we were talking a few weeks ago and I said maybe I'd get him one of those for valentines day, instead of candy, and he thought that was great, so no candy in our house tomorrow. He did buy the little boxes of conversation hearts for his cousins, and I have stayed away from the chocolate. I might pick up 2 little dove chocolate hearts for each of us as a treat, but I won't buy a big bag, or box of chocolates, because I know I will eat the whole thing.

Happy Valentines day everyone!:flower3:

Have fun at the party and hopefully they'll have at least some fresh veggies, etc. there also. Don't you love it when the kids are just as happy with something other than candy?? Good thinking on not buying the big bag but just going for a piece or two. :thumbsup2

Well, it appears being sick for the past week and a half is helping my weight loss. I was down 5 lbs. this week, and now just 1 pound shy of 20 for this year. Already can tell a difference in some of my clothes, and going over a notch on the belt buckle as well. Last night, I was even able to go about 25 of the 40 minutes in our basketball game, and didn't feel like I was going to pass out afterwards.

Sorry that you've been sick but congrats on your loss this week, you're doing a great job!

I lost 1.8 pounds this week. I'm really happy with that as I didn't lose much the two weeks prior. I've lost 11.6 so far and only need 3.4 to reach my challenge goal! :woohoo:

Our mothers are traveling in to visit this weekend for DD's 3rd birthday. FREE BABYSITTING!!!!!!!!! We are going to a nice Italian restaurant for dinner and haven't decided yet what to do after that. We did agree that in the spirit of this competition there would be no chocolates exchanged. ;)

-steve

WTG with your loss this week...you're going to by pass your challenge goal. :woohoo: Have a fun time tomorrow.

Still stuck on my number for two weeks now. Need to do a little more working and a little less hoping on this project.

Everyone have a great Valentine's Day!

Maintaining isn't a bad word, it just helps us realize that we need to do something a little different. Sometimes our body just doesn't want to let go of the pounds. Keep those positive thoughts running and you'll see a change.

I am still stuck at the same number! Now I am getting frustrated. I feel I am doing everything right, but something must not be working. I am anxious to hear back from my dietician. Well, I am not going to step on the scale daily this week. You know... a watched pot never boils, so I am really going to focus on getting in enough water this week, That might be part of the problem, and log onto sparkpeople and see exactly where my calories are.

We are celebrating my DBIL's 50th birthday. out to eat at a Mexican restaurant (*sigh* not my favorite, so I don't think I'll have a problem with eating too much!:thumbsup2 ), and then back to their house for cake and ice cream. I don't think that will be a problem either, I am not needing sweets right now.

Don't let the frustration get the best of you...I'm sure there is a reason why you are stuck. Not getting enough water could be part of it, is it possible that you aren't getting enough calories in for the amount that you are burning? :flower3: Have fun at the party...I wish I could say that Mexican wasn't a favorite for me.

Thanks for the reminder. My weigh in this week is down 0.2lbs from 2 weeks ago. Not what I wanted but its a step in the right direction, and my belt was able to go a notch smaller this week, so I'm happy about that.

For Valentine's Day, DH and I are taking our DD's to see Disney's HSM on Ice, and then having a family dinner with my parent, and sister's family. My youngest DD turns 4 next week, and my niece turned 12 last week, so it will be a joint birthday celebration. I know there will lots of healthy food since my mom's cooking.

Good going on your loss and WTG on tightening that belt.:cheer2: Have a great time with the family.

Happy Friday the 13th!!! Wow Tammy, you've lost 35 pounds, that is so awesome!!! It's stickies like that that I saw all over the DIS that motivated me to join up. Today is the fourth day in a row I've walked a little over a mile on the treadmill, and I'm down 1.5 lbs. I'm not able to work out much at all due to health issues, so I figure if I can burn 500 calories a day, that's a pound a week, so I'm cool with that.

Tomorrow DH & I are going shopping for fabric and fiber to feed my quilting and knitting habit.:goodvibes He is such a good sport, never rushes me, and actually helps me out looking for things. He even stopped at a yarn shop on his own to buy me a few things for Christmas. I think I'll keep him.:lovestruc After our shopping excursion we are going to go to a Chinese buffet, as we'll be sure to get a seat, it's inexpensive, and we love Asian food.

WOW, you have an awesome hubby...enjoy your time togther too! Great job on your loss this week...sounds like you are doing things right even with not being able to exercise as much as you would like to. Keep up the great work!!:cheer2:

I'm in the same place. The towel is in my hand, I just don't know if I can really throw it in. But I am very frustrated. I have increase my exercise, my eating has been good, not great, but not out of control by any means. I even got my steps over 10,000 yesterday. I was great on the COW this week. I haven't WI yet, I go to my WW meeting on my lunch hour. But I always do a prelim at home and the scale is stuck in the same spot.:headache: so I know that it won't be a loss today.

Tomorrow is our 14th anniversary. We don't have anything special planned, except lunch with family tomorrow to celebrate 3 family birthdays this month.
We are suppose to get rain most of the weekend. We had planned on taking our nephew to DL on sunday, but with the chance of rain and Presidents day weekend, we are putting it off until next month.

Don't throw the towel in, go ahead and put it away...have you been tracking your food in against the calories out, how about your water in take?? Just some things to consider. Maybe your body is making it's adjustment, it may be thinking, hey..I don't like that my calories are being decreased, maybe I need to hang on to these pounds. Keep focused and stay strong, you'll break the number soon. :goodvibes

Congratulations on your anniversary tomorrow too!! :)

Nothing romantic that is for sure. Run connor to King of Prussia for a meeting, the three high schoolers have a dance. So, that leaves Delaney home with mom and Dad but alas I have to house sit. So, I will not be spending Valentines day night with my hubbie.....:confused3 :confused3

Oh well, maybe another night.:thumbsup2

Well, not sure if this appeals to you at all, but there have been times where I put on the Old 80's Tunes and just DANCE!:cool1: :dance3: It is probably not a pretty sight:lmao: , but still alot of fun, and something different!:3dglasses

Ugh I was sick and GAINED! Weight wise I am down .4 but I manged to gain almost 3 inches this week!! Maybe it is a bloating issue. I have been drinking a ton and not peeing much at all. I am going to go with that to keep myself sane. To make matters worse, I got this migraine like headache last night that I cant shake (and i don't get migraines, least i don't think i do). So I went a lot batty and had a whole pint yes WHOLE PINT of real ice cream for breakfast, all 1300 calories of it! Not sure how I managed that. I actually went to the 7-11 on my way to work, bought it and ate it at my desk without ever truly realizing what I was doing. It was almost auto pilot. I never thought "this is naughty" or stupid (like I always do and then say "what the heck" and eat it anyway) until I noticed the container was empty and then I went "oh ****!!!" Sad thing was, I was on auto pilot and didn't even enjoy it! So i guess that counts as breakfast and lunch and i will start fresh at dinner...salad, lots of salad! ;)

Nope. We usually get all dolled up and go somewhere special, but this year I am on a structured eating plan until the end of march (ice cream a real no-no, so oops again for my "breakfast" fiasco) so we figured we would do something in April when i can eat normal again. We figured we might go to the horse track and watch the ponies run, but it is supposed to rain, so i am not sure what we are thinking now.

Sounds like you are just retaining fluid, especially since you've been sick. Even though you had a skid off your path this morning it sounds like you had a good plan to get back on track at dinner  . Have a fun day, no matter what you end up doing together.

:scared1::scared1:ME TOO! The first week I was sick, I lost 2, but this week, I am feeling a little better, and of course, it came back on!

Well, back to being a "healthy eater" again, got to follow my food plan closer!!!

Sounds like you have a good plan for the week...sometimes it just takes being a little more aware of what you are doing. You'll be back down next week!!:thumbsup2

I maintained this week. I didn't keep up with all of my food intake or exercise as much, so I had no change.

Friday QOTD-I'm going to cook a meatloaf (because it is red), some potatoes (because I have too many, but I'll try not to eat too many) and I'm making a cheesecake right now (it is my DH's favorite - I will give most of it away so it is out of the house). I will watch my calorie intake tomorrow, so I don't feel too bad at dinner. I hope everyone has a great evening - Lisa.

Keeping track of things can be such a key sometimes, sounds like you know what you need to do. :woohoo: Enjoy your dinner tomorrow, it sounds great. When I know I'm having a higher calorie dinner, I try to eat a big colorful salad with a healthy dressing for my lunch and then I can enjoy the dinner.

Down 1.6. Amazing since I haven't exercised this week due to DD. And, for the 1st time in years, my home scale says I lost the same amount as the scale at WW. The weights aren't the same, but the difference is.

WTG on your loss this week!!!

Thanks for hosting VIJA it was fun, welcome new host, thanks for doing this everyone who has hosted. I haven't weighed myself yet- want the coffee to drain a bit...;)
QOTD: V-Day. Nothing romantic- been wanting to go see Coraline for awhile so we are going to all go see that. I'm getting some lobster tails for husband and I- maybe do some broccolli and cheese since husband has been asking for it ( I'll use the fat free cheese slices)

Yummmm lobster tails, sounds like a great meal plan!!

Hubby left this morning for a military trip so nothing super special for me. The kids and I have a cheerleading competition tomorrow, so I pray I can stay ontrack tomorrow. Its not easy at these competitions with no access to good food.

We leave at 9:15am tomorrow from the High School, and they go on at 12 something. Sounds like we are at the beginning of the second session, so I have no idea when it will end. Hour by hour - I can do this, although I have no PLAN whatso-ever.

Oh - I weighed in exactly the same today as last week. I'll take it considering how bad I did last weekend:rolleyes1 . Thank goodness I had a perfect week so I came in even and did not gain.

You can stay in control tomorrow, I know you can!!!:yay: Glad to hear that you had a good week being on plan, keep up the great work and you'll be down next week for sure!!

I have been sick with a cold and haven't worked out, but I did not gain any weight. I guess that's something to be thankful for!

Hope you feel better soon!!:grouphug:

Hi everyone! I'm down 1/2 pound this week. I am not on track for my 1-pound per week weight loss and Valentine's day is not going to help :sad2:. I plan on cooking a very nice meal that is NOT low fat or low carb or low cal. I hope to be "good" the rest of the week though .

Good job on your loss, stay focused and you can get back on track. Enjoy your meal and then get right back on the healthy eating and you'll be fine. :thumbsup2

WTG on passing up on all those unhealthy treats:yay: that sure isn't an easy thing to do. Your daily steps are great too, keep it up.

Good going on your loss this week...maybe you were moving more than you thought. Get back into your routine and you'll see another loss next week. ;)

Just a quick check in. I gained 0.7 pounds this week. :guilty: Congrats to everyone who is posting a gain, loss or weight neutral. Keep up the good work. And.....don't get discouraged.

Hang in there, you'll be back on track next week!:thumbsup2

I'm with My2Es, I've not been able to keep up with the thread the past few days. Sorry!

WTG on your loss this week. We are glad that you are posting and not just giving up. While you are with your parents, make sure to get lots of fresh fruits and veggies in along with getting enough H2O. The suggestions for exercises sound like good ones, haven't thought about trying wall push-ups (I can't do regular ones:)).

Ok, now I am dissapointed and ashamed.:sad2: I had to send my food log to a dietician for the biggest loser competition for DH's work. She analyzed my numbers and they are way higher than I thought they would be. That is the dissapointing part. I thought I was lower. As it is, I am HUNGRY alot, I can't even imagine going lower. :scared: It almost scares me. But it does answer the question of why the scale hasn't budged.

THe ashamed part??? Well, I had gone out to eat one day, and she highlighted that part with exclamation marks with a few comments that truly make me ashamed and wanting to put my tail between my legs.:sad1: :sad1: :sad1:

I suppose some might say "deal with it, and change it", and I will, but I guess it was the comments. I know they were meant to be helpful, but it came out hurtful instead.

I think I'm caught up for now...let's have a great weekend, stay on plan with what you are doing and we'll see great losses again next week.

QOTD Friday - Do you have anything special planned for Valentine's Day tomorrow?

Nothing special planned here...we did get the kids Starbuck cards for Valentine's instead of candy and I'm sure they'll be just as happy with those.

Now it is my turn to report...I was up .5 this week. I think it may have had a lot to do with my dinner last night (favorite Mexican place). I didn't do terribly with the eating but I know the sodium can be a killer. Sure wish I had planned better on going after WI or earlier in the week. What's done is done though, can't go back in time. I had a good salad at lunch and a healthy dinner tonight, lots of water and got a walk in so I'm back on my way.

Time to go sit with the family. I'm going to be working on a crochet blanket to keep my hands busy while I'm sitting;) . Have a great night everyone!!

:grouphug: sounds like her approach isn't the right one for you. Did she at least give you some suggestions for other options that would help you feel full?

She mentioned some better choices to eat when going to BK or Culvers. Otherwise she said focus on getting in consistent fruits and veggies. Nothing else was mentioned.

I will try to get my fruits and veggies in, but in all honesty, (and I know this will sound strange) I get MORE hungry when eating fruits and veggies. Strawberries are about the only thing that doesn't make me more hungry. I am scouring the 3 grocery stores in town hoping to find strawberries that aren't moldy. Not very easy to do in Feb.

I know it is a mindset, and I am sure I'll feel better tomorrow morning, but right now I feel sort of hopeless. I have already cut my intake severely. I can't even imagine what my numbers were before. They must have been astronomical. I used to eat a bag of chips and a container of sourcream practically every day, on TOP of everything else I was eating, i.e. overeating. So I know I have cut my calories drasticly. THe idea of cutting more is mindblowing right now, but numbers don't lie, in order to keep losing weight, I guess I have to cut out more.

I'm so sad for you that you feel this way... There have to be some foods you can substitute that will fill you up. Are you eating lots of fiber? Maybe that will help. Enough protein? It stinks that she didn't give you better suggestions. Can you go to someone else?

Vij, LuvBaloo, and Tammy - thanks for the suggestions, they all sound very do-able. I really want to keep focused. I'll have computer access and will be checking the thread. It'll be a crazy week since my mom is still in the hospital and my dad will be going into the VA in Tampa for his surgery - that's about a 1 1/2 hr drive. Fast food and no exercise will be easy to fall back into. My first plan is to hit the store on Tuesday and get lots of fruit and chicken and veggies and cook some stuff up. Then it'll be time to clean the house...:rolleyes1 (my mom's been gone for a month and my dad doesn't seem to "notice" things, kwim?)

So I think this is the first time I've been able to get on this week, and as I was reading I was very confused as to why ppl were giving their weights and DH said uhhh it is friday haha... I'm def running off on him!!!! lol

I'm down another pound this week. I'm happy with a pound a week, slow and steady wins the race!!!

Just a friendly reminder to send your numbers to Brenda this week.

QOTD Friday - Do you have anything special planned for Valentine's Day tomorrow?

I was supposed to go to Kansas City tomorrow to see my boyfriend Aaron. I live 2.5 hours away from him so we get to see each other once or twice a month if we are lucky. Unfortunately, I got a message tonight saying he is sick and is not even sure if he can go to his class. (Yes, his professor who's also the prinicpal at the school where he is student teaching scheduled class on Valentine's day and the Saturday of a three day weekend.) He is going to call me tomorrow to let me know if I should come down or not. Hopefully if not tomorrow he will be feeling better on Sunday. :( With the way our schedules are, I don't know when I will be able to see him again.

Hi!
I hope everyone is feeling okay- and if not, hope you get to feeling better soon! Seems like so many people are sick lately- it's really going around everywhere! :(

Down 2.6lbs this week- but over 2lbs of that in one day? Which is really odd for me but I'll take it because I was STARTING to get bummed the exact same weight every day. LOL I do think I lost inches during that time of maintaining weight though- things fit looser. I'll know for sure tomorrow night when I measure (measure weekly). I was beginning to think this week would be pure maintain and I'd eaten/drank so good this week! It just wanted to happen all in one day apparently. LOL

Hope everyone is doing great!

Happy Valentines Day Losers!
It has been a rough week for me. DH had his hip replacement surgery Tuesday and I've not done anything movement-wise since. He came home today and all is going to be fine, so I should be back on track. At least I can report I didn't gain. I maintained. WiiFit says I lost .2, but the scale I've been using does not reflect that.

I'll have to read all that's gone on this week. Keep at it everyone!

Vija, I agree with the 'be certain that you are getting FIBRE and PROTEIN to help ease the hunger'. The other thing that works for me is to eat something every two hours, be it an orange, some veggies, a piece (1 oz) of cheese, or even a thin slice of deli ham (lean, Black Forest). Also, make sure that you are getting your water.:drinking1 I know that that is an issue for me on the weekend!::yes:: I'm sorry that she didn't 'tell' you anything in a positive manner. (It sounds like it was a written response, though, so maybe her "tone" was caring and encouraging, if the words weren't) To keep your own tally of foods, why not log on to fitday.com. No surprises when the numbers come back at you! Stay strong! I have been most impressed with your drive this go round, and you have NOTHING to be ashamed of!
