Welcome to the WISH Biggest Loser 7 Challenge

Question of the Day
What is your biggest obstacle to staying healthy on the weekend?
For me, it is similar to you dona, and not having a schedule or routine. We tend to go out to eat more on the weekends, and I usually grocery shop sunday morning, so saturdays the fruit and vegie supply can be a bit low. If there are still too many fruits and vegies left, it usually means I didn't eat well during the week. I usually get up and do a one hour watp video on the weekends.

We are heading out to western mass for my niece's birthday party, and my son is going to sleep there, while I come back home for a work post holiday party. I'm planning to have one piece of pizza at the bday party, and the work party is tennessee bbq, which doesn't sound too healthy, but they are having baked sweet potatoes, and cucumber salad, and If I stick with the bbq chicken I think I'll be ok.

Have a great weekend everyone.

Good morning All!

My DH had to get up early this morning to go to work, so I decided to get up w/ him and work out instead of staying curled up in bed. I did 7 miles on my exercise bike, and it said that I burned off 360 calories! That CAN'T be right, can it?

I FINALLY got through reading all of the posts late last night, so I will start answering some of the QOTD's.

Question of the Day - Explain your DIS screen name. I LOVE riding Harley-Davidson motorcycles (have had 2 of my own) and I'm a Mom. I have one DS (19) and a DSS (step-son) (19) and a DSD (23).

Question of the Day: What is one positive change you made the first week of the challenge? I gave up caffeine and most other soda (from 28 cans a week down to 1-2!) and started drinking water instead.

question of the day: What is your first goal you are reaching for? (A smaller step toward your ultimate goal). It can be a specific weight, clothing size, behavior change, whatever you want. My first "mini" goal would be 15 pounds gone by my birthday (Feb. 11). I started this mini-challange on Jan. 1st and am over half-way there!

Question of the Day: What is a non food reward you can give yourself when you make that first goal? I'll buy myself the Mickey diamonique ring that I've been wanting for over a year!

What is one thing you don't think people on the DIS know about you that you would like to share? I love tattoos! I have 3, and my most current one I gave myself for my 40th b-day (last year) is 3 hidden Mickey's in animal prints (for my love of the Mouse and Animal Kingdom).

Well, I guess I'll limit my questions to 5 or so a day so I don't bore you all to tears! Have a great weekend everyone!! :wave2:

2 pounds this week for total of 12 pounds. My jeans are getting looser. Now if I can only keep up this pace for the next 11 months.

...I am proud to say that I did PM my weight when I was all set to give up
I just had to respond to this. I am so PROUD of you for staying with it. This is the best thing you can do for you. Never give up. You can do this!

To all who have had difficulty during the process, please keep at it. It is worth it to keep trying. Never give up. You are worth it and being healthier will help everyone around you.

To all who have been having a successful time. Congratulations! You are an inspiration! Thank you for letting us know it can be done!

QotD: What is your biggest obstacle to staying healthy on the weekend?
I'd say for me it is the lack of schedule. During the week there is a basic schedule followed and the weekend is different. While I know changing it up is good for my body, my mind does not always keep up with that attitude.

Forgot to WI yesterday so I did first thing this morning...I didn't lose anything but didn't gain anything either. I am determined to have a loss next week so I've got my work cut out for me.

Thanks OhMom for coaching last week!!!

Question of the Day
What is your biggest obstacle to staying healthy on the weekend?

Like others have said, being without with normal routine of the week. If we are going to eat out, that is typically when it happens. We have an Eagle Scout Ceremony to attend tonight at 5pm so I'm not sure how dinner is going to fit in...sure wish it had been an hour earlier or an hour later. Don't think we can pull an early dinner so more than likely it will be a late one.

Question of the Day
How many timees have you been to Disney World?

Had to get DH to help count them up...17 so far and he said "NOT NEARLY ENOUGH" ;)

Need to finish up on the computer and get cleaned up from a stamping class last night. Have lots to do on the to-do list today so should get lots of moving in.

Have a great Saturday everyone!!!

I gained a pound this week.:sad2:

Hang in there:grouphug:...I know it's frustrating but you know you can do it. If you're like me, I know there are things that I did this week that prevented me from losing. I also know what I need to do this week so that I can see a loss next week...so let's get to it!!!:cheer2:

Hi All

It's been a while since i've been around. I'm trying to pull my self out of a rut. I always get dipressed and moody around my birthday. I turn 27 on Monday. I get dipressed so I eat, then I get dipressed that I ate so much and the cycle starts again.

I've been stuck at the same weight fo two weeks and thet doesn't help either. even though I leave 400 calories a day.

I'm going to design a princess 2010 logo for my self and put it on my fridge to remind my self of my goal every time I go for a snack.

any other suggestions would be great. Sorry if i'm a downer.

Vicky

Vicky,

Try eating those 400 calories. One of the things WW says is that sometimes if you go too low on food your body goes into "surival" mode. So bump up a few. Remember you have to look at this as LONG term, not "I can starve myself for 3 months" Yes, that works on TV and they eat an INSANELY low amount on BL, but you don't have Jillian yelling at you 7 hours a day either LOL!

Question of the Day
What is your biggest obstacle to staying healthy on the weekend?

I am actually MORE disciplined on the weekends since I am usually eating at home and not tempted by the "dining out" I get when I travel. But the boyfriend wants to eat out at least once a weekend. I just try to plan for it. He's very supportive and we generally go places I pick LOL!

This weekend it may be WATER! I was suppose to get up and do 8 miles with my running group. Well due to my one stupdity I missed the run.... maybe God was protecting fools? At about 9 I realized NO WATER. So I went outside and sometime during the night the homeowners assocaition put a note on the door saying "no water" WHY THEY WAIT UNTIL THE MIDDLE OF THE NIGHT IS BEYOND ME! (I have got to get on this board and start figuring out what these idiots are doing. They nearly got us sued last year because it took them until almost JULY to open the pool.. They are all older ladies and don't like the pool LOL!) So I guess at least I didn't come home all dirty and discover this issue. Will have to get the run in sometime. I can always shower at the boyfriends!

Someone asked about a scale. I have one by Taylor. It's suppose to measure body fat too, but dang I remember how to do that. However, it's very consistent. It only does .5 increments though. I got on today for my WW weigh in (which is the day after my BL weigh in) and I was back to where I was before the "bad" week LOL! So I dont' go crazy in California this week I hope to report a loss next week!

Hope everyone has a good weekend. Start thinking about your "superbowl" plan now LOL!\

Where is everyone?

Water's back on and I did my 8 miles.... For you WW folks 96 minutes of jogging is 13 APs! LOL!

Hi All. Sorry Ive been sort of MIA. I was without internet and cable for a week and then the whole house came down with the flu except for me. ~~~~Knocking wood very quickly~~~~~. Ive been on WW for three weeks now and was down a total of 10.8 pounds as of last week. I went sort of bugnutty this week with my eating and Im afraid to get on the scale tomorrow. I was doing so well and I did myself in. Im back on track but I lost all that ground.

I'm still slightly bummed by my gain this week, but I think I figured out why. TOM! Does anybody else get a wretched case of the munchies around that time? I know a lot of it is also water weight. I am confident that with counting points and going to the gym I will be able to lose it and then some this week! (I hope, I hope, I hope). In two weeks I will be a superstar!

I am visiting my folks this weekend. It was great to get out of Kville after the week I had. One of the moms is trying to pull her daughter out of my math resource class. The thing is, my mentor teacher and I thought her daughter was doing really well. I have been up til 3 am every night creating interventions for these girls and volunteered to tutor them before school so I can do some reteaching and not just homework help. I realize that the mom has not seen the most recent test which her daughter did phenomenally on, and that she didn't mean anything by it, but it's still hard not to take it personally. I am switching with my mentor teacher this week and taking over a reading intervention and she will meet with the two girls for the math resource.

So it was nice to get away. We went to the outlet mall at the Lake of the Ozarks and I got a nice interview suit! It did make me feel fat going in and not being able to find my size in almost every piece of clothing. Another incentive to lose weight. I also chopped off my hair. IT's amazing how such a small thing can make you feel better. Anyway, I'm just glad this week is over with and determined to make next week a better one.

Wow, I am so behind on QODs and not keeping up good with posts! We had problems connecting to the internet while at WDW, and I haven't gotten back into the routine since getting home a week ago!

I wore my pedometer on vacation, and usually did about 21,000 steps a day, which was 7 miles. I can't wear it all the time at home because I'm a nurse and it just doesn't stay on scrub pants! I'm going to try to wear it more this week, but I'm already 2 days behind on the COW!

Who is your favorite author and what type of books does he write?
James Patterson-mystery.

How often do you weigh yourself?
Almost every day, sometimes more.

Do you incorporate stretching/flexiblity in your workouts?
I occasionally do some yoga on the Wii fit.

What's for dinner tonight?
We had tacos made with ground turkey and FF sour cream.

Biggest obstacle to staying healthy on the weekend?
The donuts at church! I have to stay away from them!

How many times have you been to Disney World?
I think it's 7. Once when I was 12, my honeymoon, 1 day to MK in 1999, first family trip in 2005, Feb 07, Nov 07, Jan 08 (had to get my money's worth out of my first AP!), and Jan 09. I guess that's 8, I forgot to count my honeymoon the first time!

Well, I guess that's as far back as I'm going, because I have to leave for church in 45 minutes and I haven't showered yet! Better hurry!

Have a good day everybody!

Good SUNday morning.

I just got home from church and had breakfast. Now we have a get a squirrel out from under our bed and out of the house. We hopefully have a good plan and it will work. WE slept downstairs last night because we didn't want to sleep with the squirrel but that made the dog restless. I didn't get much sleep.

I usually go grocery shopping on SUnday morning but I am not going this morning,. With the Super Bowl on tonight all the guys who know nothing about grocery shopping will be out. The thing I hate the most is stopping and leaving the cart in the middle of the aisle so no one can get through. Plus to top it off they are still rearranging our store because they expanded. SO I don't know where anything is and it will be worse for guys who only go once or twice a year.

I am going to work on costumes at the local high school for their musical which opens in less than a month. It is about a train traveling the US during WW2 with some army guys, a bunch of recruits and citizens. The show was on Broadway in the early 70's and stared the Andrew sisters. The chorus reads like a list of who's who. John Travolta, MaryLu Henner, Treat Williams and several others were in the chorus. We have so much to do because they are still deciding on who is going to where what. There are not a lot of pictures to work from for this show. NOt like last year's Beauty and the Beast.

Question of the day

Are you going to a SUper Bowl Party? Are you going to watch the game?

My girlfriend who used to give a super bowl party is out of town again this year so we are not. I don't know if I will watch the game with dh. He will probably be in the room with the good light so if I want to quilt I guess I will.

Well off to get my bedroom cleaned out. HAve a good day

Good Morning everyone!!!

Question of the day

Are you going to a Super Bowl Party? Are you going to watch the game?

Nope, hubby and my teenager are going to one but I m going to sty home with the younger ones.

For the other QOTD my downfall on weekends is hving everywhere home nda more eting is going on.

I m getting ready now to go to church for Scout Sunday, My girl scout troop is going and I had to make some goodies. I just made sure I ate some bacon and eggs so I dont have any of the sweets afterwards

Oops! I forgot to answer this yesterday.

Question of the Day
What is your biggest obstacle to staying healthy on the weekend?

There are a few things. The lack of routine since I always have my banana after morning recess and DH always packs me a salad and veggies for lunch (3 servings right there! :thumbsup2 ) AND the fact that I spend HOURS on the computer planning lessons (SMARTboard-anyone have one? :cheer2: ) means that I am not walking. I did do my steps while watching t.v. last night, though.

Question of the day
Are you going to a SUper Bowl Party? Are you going to watch the game?

Nope. Can't stand football (remember I'm not American, but Canadian :teeth: ) but DH will be watching, and I will cook up some easy finger foods for him, since DDs and I will use the big t.v. and he gets the 19" one in the bedroom. :rotfl: Oh, and we never get the good commercials either.:sad2: which might be the one reason I would watch.

I'm off to Church, and will try to get my steps in again. Next week's 10 000 are going to just about do me in, I think! Wish I were going to Disney, so the walking would be without thinking. Trouble here is that it is still too cold to be out walking, and I don't have a treadmill.

Yes yes yes! That happens to me - let me grab it and eat it. And you're right you will be a superstar at your next weigh-in, that also happened to me. :thumbsup2 So great that you recognize this and keep moving forward.

My toughest thing about the weekend - actually the weekends are easier, weekdays are tough, especially snack time when I get home after school.

Question of the Day
What is your biggest obstacle to staying healthy on the weekend?

My DH, he is currently trying the Atkin's plan, drives me crazy! He is going to the Dr. tomorrow for a check up and I am making him ask about the plan, I don't like it.

I try to plan our meals but it gets hard when you are out and about. I've started to pack my own snacks in the car before we go, it helps with impulse buying and eating.

Hope everyone is having a good weekend, so far I have stuck to the C.O.W. It was hard because yesterday was DH birthday and my DD made him a cake in her EZ bake oven but he would not eat it because of the Atkins thing. Poor kid slaved over a hot light bulb and he couldn't even take a bite! :lmao:

Good Sat morning everyone. I don't have anything planned for today. I willbe working on a quilt I am making for my inlaws and a scarf for a show where I am working on costumes. It should be pretty quiet. Ds1 is going out for most of the day and ds2 didn't come home this weekend. He will be home next weekend.

Question of the Day
What is your biggest obstacle to staying healthy on the weekend?

For me it is being around my dh. I like to try to eat at the same time as I do during the week. As a school teacher you live by the bell. Even though he is also a teacher he doesn't feel like following a set timetable. If we go out for the day he doesn't think about eating and if I don't eat at a regular interval I get pretty grrumpy. He also doesn't watch what he eats. Even though he could stand to lose some weight he will think nothing about getting chips and or ice cream. I don't buy it so he has to go out and get those things on his own.

Congrats to all the losers this week and good luck for next weigh in for those who stayed the same or gained.

I will check in later. HAve a great day

I think I saw something on this board that helped me with my husbands habits--something about how that's his thing right now and just let him do it..that's always a mantra with Dr. Wayne Dyer-- they are in the place they are supposed to be right now--and there's not much you can do about it..:confused3
My sister in law got us all subscriptions to mags for xmas this year and my health one came and last night he listened to me while I rattles off facts from what I was reading while he was channell surfing--I said something about people who eat yogurt when they are dieting lose weight 20% faster or something according to some study and found all the yogurt taken out of the box I bought it in all neatly lined up this morning lol. He was resistant to it and I was irritated because he keeps going out for junk on lunch which is expensive too--he's tired of sandwiches so I bought a bunch of yogurt.

Question of the day-- superbowl. No-yuck! I hate football-- no offense to those who like it, enjoy your day. I am looking forward to puppy bowl with the kitten half time though!! :goodvibes We also plan to go to Costco today around game time--we figure a great time to go.

No SuperBowl party for us this year -- it would just be too depressing. Actually, I don't feel that bad about it. All things considered, my Pats are ok.

We do have a plan, because we love to watch the commercials as well as the game. We made cheese lasagna for dinner, and we have snacks to eat around -- fresh veggies with dip, popcorn, sugar-free jello, and skinny cow ice cream sandwiches. DH is also going to make a tray of nachos, just salsa on chips with lower-fat cheese.

I am also being very careful with my calories until gametime. I had a yogurt for breakfast, and I'll have chicken soup for lunch. I'm still working on this annoying cold, so I might as well eat light and rest. I'm not up to working out yet, I'm hoping for a walk on the TM tomorrow after work, which I cannot miss. Sigh.

Ok, so we've started a new week of working on our weight loss, and I can feel the momentum building. It's Feb. 1, and in my world that's a fresh start! Let's make it a super losing month! :woohoo:

Maria :upsidedow
