Welcome to the WISH Biggest Loser 7 Challenge

Hi everyone,

Haven't been around because my eating has not been ontrack. Very depressing! But my activity has been good. I managed to maintain this week. So that is better than gaining. But we'll see. Sometimes a bad week shows up later! Argh!!!

I just need some warm sun to make me feel better all around! I keep virtually planning vacations to warm places.

Question of day: I've been to Disney World 16 times and to Disneyland 3 times. Wow that is a lot considering I never went to Disney until I was like 18. That's more than a trip a year since then. Interesting...

Good luck everyone!!!

Thanks OhMom for your week of coaching :cheer2:
Thanks to donac for doing it this week :cheer2:

MelanieC - :cheer2: way to own it you weight, and I hope things get better with cheer team :cheer2:

Question of the Day
How many timees have you been to Disney World?

4 times to WDW. First time in 1997, and that's when DH proposed. He did it in front of Mickey, so my first congratulations was from the Mouse.

I was happy today to see a loss of 2.7. I wasn't expecting to do so well, since I wasn't eating so great earlier in the week (3 times to McD ) but even when I've been eating bad, it hasn't been as bad as in the past. I put more focus into exercising this week, to try and make up for the McD trips, and it worked

Still working on the COW. Thanks Raenstoirm for doing it. I'm far from perfect with it, but it does make me think more about what I'm doing.

I have been to Disney World 5 times, my first time was at 14, second time at 20, the last 3 have been over the last 3 years with my children, they have, by far been the best trips and some of the greatest memories.

Not enough -- I've been there 4 times, but that's been over 22 years. I would go at least every other year if I could --but the waiting and planning and dreaming probably make the trips even more special.

Congrats to all the losers !! Hang in there -- we can do it !!! :cheer2:

Down 4.8 this week. I really wanted that 5 pounder, but this will have to do. I did my usual get up, go to the bathroom, get on the scale and I actually got back on the pot to try and squeeze out that .2, but my bladder would not cooperate!

Too Funny!!!!! You made my day!!!:rotfl2:

Great week everyone! And to those struggling....just own it and move on. Tomorrow is a new day! Thank goodness we always have tomorrow for that reason.

As for me, I have seen the gym only once this week due to having 3 kids with the stomach flu. I was worried about missing out on my workouts but alas the scale did not fail me.

I am down 2.8 this week and I am only tenths of a pound away from the
170's. I want it so bad that I can taste it.

I have been following ww but I must confess that weekends are my downfall and of course I weigh in for ww on Monday. This weekend will be challenging because we are having a super bowl party. I am determined to control my eating er snacking as the case may be and to make healthier choices.

This is however the most success I have ever had on WW and I am totally motivated to see the scale go down even more so for today I will ride that high...

Have a great weekend everyone!

Juanita

Well, I'm down a pound this week, I don't bother with point this or that, kind of perturbing because I weighed myself yesterday and was down 2 pounds...oh well. I weigh myself with 2 scales now, one digital, one antique dial type and I get on and off several times- so far they have been consistent. I didn't take my clothes off this morning-- usually I'm nekkie--maybe that's the difference. Anyway. been to Disneyworld once, Disneyland probably 10 times or so. Downloaded some Wayne Dyer- I'll try and listen today some- clean the kitchen and dining room, maybe even hit the fridge if I have time...:laundy:

--Oh I just wanted to add--this is so hard! It was a lot easier when I was younger lol. Seems like I am just doing everything right (sans exercising 7 hours a day like on the show) and it is so slow--slow. I'm 40. Was just talking to husband on the phone and he said my body is probably retaining water from the swimming-- he's probably right, because I spent over an hour in the jacuzzi yesterday just talking- and jeez-- you do that and I know-- too much info, but--I'm 'leaking' all night.

Vija - I worked in Fantasyland running the rides. This dates me, because three of them aren't there any more - Mr. Toad, 20 Thousand Leagues, and Skyway. I worked at Tea Cups, Mr. Toad, Snow White, Dumbo (back when there were fewer dumbos!), Carousel, Pan, and Small World. It was a lot fun, I worked with people around my age and we went into the park after work or out to the LBV (now DTD) area.

Thanks to everyone for your input on whether to take dd with me to my parents...you've definitely given me different things to think about. I appreciate it!

I didn't weigh in last week because we were at Disney World. I'm happy to report that I am down 2 pounds from 2 weeks ago. I ate a lot at Disney, but I made sure I that I drank only water most of the time - had to have a couple of frozen margaritas. ;)
Congratulations to all those who lost, maintained, or even gained. Just being here and being accountable means that we are all winners. :)
Have a fantastic weekend!
Nancy

I am up 1.6 which is frustrating. Not because I have ate very well, but because I excercised every day and the 1.6 is half the total weight I have lost in the whole challenge.

I ate okay this week, but the frustrating part is that when I was bad I was bad with good foods. Not with the ones I wanted to indulge in. I feel like I take 1 step forward and 2 steps back.

However, I am proud to say that I did PM my weight when I was all set to give up, so at least that is a little progress. I hope I have a better week this week.:sad2:

Aha! Well, decided to not go to the pool today, maybe later this eve with my stepdad and son...anyway, drank my morning coffee and read the boards for awhile-- longer than I was planning because I was trying to make sense of that free hotel room thing on the budget board..then decided to go take a bath. Well- thought I'd weigh myself again because coffee is a diuretic of sorts and wholla- digital insists I am 162! This is very exciting to me because for some reason that number has stuck in my head for a long time as a goal for me. I kept re- weighing myself and it just keeps saying 162.2 so I guess I'm taking it. It did say I was 161 something once. The other scale I have says I'm 164 which is consistent because this is the same difference there has been before. The digital is fairly new and has a new battery so I'm thinking this is the right weight. So I'm off to report my new numbers lol. :cool1:

(moral of all this jumbled hysteria is I lost 2 pounds this week lol)

I weighed in another pound gone. I think all the snow shoveling is getting me headed in the right direction.

:cheer2: :cheer2: To all the losers this week:cheer2: :cheer2:

:grouphug: :grouphug: To those who maintained or gained:grouphug: :grouphug:

And count me into the :grouphug: group. I was up .2 lbs. Which I'm very happy with. I celebrated my birthday this past weekend with friends. Ate at my new favorite restaurant and had lots of champagne. And even with all this the gain was small. I was able to get right back on track monday. The COW also has been very helpful. It helped get me stay focused and motivated.

QOTD....
I have been to WDW twice. Once back in 98 thanks to VW. When VW relaunched the new beetle they held the launch in WDW. It was a 3 day trip, but was so very cool. there were special event at each park just for VW.
The second time was this past May. We went to AK the day before we sailed on the Magic through the Panama Canal.
We have been to DL way to many times to count. We try to go at lease once a month.

Could some of you share what type/brand of scale you use at home. I WI at my WW meeting, but DH does it at home and I would like to get him a digital scale. We looked at one at costco the other day, but each time either one of us got on it would be different each time.

Thanks for any suggestions.

:thumbsup2

Down 1 lb this week. Not huge, but I will definitely take it. Like others, I ate a little too much last weekend, and was up 1.5 pounds on Monday. Got back on track and was really hoping just to break even, so 1 is GREAT.

I am going to try to be more active this coming week. I have been feeling very lazy this week. I haven't exercised at all since last Wed. The cold weather is my excuse for not walking, but I haven't made myself do anything inside either, so that is going to be my personal goal for the week.

Hello all! The week is finally over! I have lost 1.4 pounds in my first week in the Challange. Of course, I was hoping for more, but I've actually been "dieting" since mid-December, and I'm down 16 pounds since then. I'm very happy with my 1.4 loss. I've been doing very well with my water - not so good w/ the veggies. And I'm having a hard time finding the Omron pedometer that I want to buy, so I'm not counting my steps yet. I'll try again tomorrow, but if I can't find it then I'll order it online.

It's been a very stressful week at work, and I was VERY tempted to buy some VERY unhealthy food at the grocery store tonight....but I kept hearing your voices in my head telling me to "STEP AWAY FROM THE ICE CREAM" (funny, since I don't know what you all sound like! But you were VERY loud!) :rotfl:

Have a great weekend everybody, and here's to a very successful week ahead! :flower3:

Hi All

It's been a while since i've been around. I'm trying to pull my self out of a rut. I always get dipressed and moody around my birthday. I turn 27 on Monday. I get dipressed so I eat, then I get dipressed that I ate so much and the cycle starts again.

I've been stuck at the same weight fo two weeks and thet doesn't help either. even though I leave 400 calories a day.

I'm going to design a princess 2010 logo for my self and put it on my fridge to remind my self of my goal every time I go for a snack.

any other suggestions would be great. Sorry if i'm a downer.

Vicky

Keep up the great work everyone! Hang in there. If it were easy keeping this up, I certainly wouldn't have a reason to be here! :mickeybar

I lost 0.6 this week which I'm content with. I did a good job of behaving myself food-wise but didn't get much exercise this week. Our DD was sick for a few days and had us up several times each night. I've been completely exhausted this week and am looking forward to catching up on some zzzzzz's this weekend.:faint:

I wish I could post more often but weekly seems to be as often as I can make time for DISing. I hope no one minds me posting my QOTDs at the same time.

I wish I could participate in the COWs but I'm doing pretty well at them. The veggie and fruit COWs were a good reminder for me. Thank you! I'll add all of the COWs to my goals so I see them daily.

For water, I drink one 32oz bottle during the day and another 1-1.5 bottles when I work out at night. I'm sure I clear 10,000 steps during the week. I used to wear a pedometer for a challenge at work and made 10k-12k each day.

I take daily walks during my lunch break. My route is 1.6 miles. I also park in the furthest lot at work and leave my lunch in the car so I have to go back to eat making it an extra trip. I wore my GPS watch one day to measure it and it is .58 miles round trip so I clear another mile just going to my car twice a day. I really need to increase my steps on the weekend though. I do run ~20 miles per week so I'm sure that's got to help make up for it.

QOTD: What can you do for yourself next week?
I'm going to make this a relaxing week. I have to travel on business for four days. I don't have any plans during the evenings so I plan to do a lot of relaxing and getting some much-needed exercise. I'm looking forward to checking out their indoor pool and fitness center to try something new. My worry is how I'm going to do eating out 3x per day. That's going to take some great will-power, especially with a Cold Stone near the hotel!

QOTD: Do you plan your meals ahead for the week? how does this help you?
My wife does this. She cooks very light which is great. It's the portion control and dining out that has always been my downfall.

QOTD: Has your success/attitude/determination during this challenge influenced or inspired a friend or family member?
No one really knows about this. My DW is on here with me so the added support is fantastic.

QOTD: Who is your favorite author and what type of books does he/she write?
I don't have a favorite. I love Disney books - mostly about Walt, the history of the parks and movies, and about the Imagineers.

Was wondering how often everyone weighs themselves?
I weigh myself Mondays and Fridays. I do it on Mondays to keep myself honest over the weekend. It was too easy for me to be bad and think I have all week to make it up which for me didn't happen.

QOTD: do you incorporate flexibility/stretching in your workouts?
I mostly just stretch after I run. I try to do yoga twice per week but it usually only happens once.

QOTD -- What's for dinner tonight?
Since this was posted yesterday, I'll answer about last night. We ate out since we took our daughter and friend to the big bounce house at the mall. We went to Applebee's and I had the steak and portobello meal off the Weight Watchers menu (7 points). I got some good exercise in chasing them around afterward!

Question of the Day
How many times have you been to Disney World?

7 trips with my 8th coming up in May.

I hope everyone has a great week!

-steve

The latest thing that's been working for me, is repeating the phrase "I want to lose weight" And when I get a craving asking myself "do I want the chips or to lose weight". I never tell myself "I can't have" anything. I stick with asking myself what I want. At one point, I even wrote down why I want to lose weight to help me stay focused.

The fact that you're maintaining instead of gaining is still a positive :grouphug:

I've been following the COW and have noticed changes from drinking lots of water. I put a bit of lime juice in sometimes for a bit of flavour.

:grouphug: hang in there!

We went out tonight to one of our favorite restaurants in town because it's closing tomorrow. It is so sad. Our waitress didn't know what she would do, the owner came out and he had spent most of the last 2 weeks in tears, saying good bye to dear customers. People just aren't going out to eat...
So anyway I had the spinach lasagna with a glass of wine. Also had to have some of the bread because it was their awesomely good garlic bread and the last I'd see of it. I ate a light, healthy yogurt/fruit shake for breakfast and only had a cup of tea and a mandarin orange later and I'm hungry now so I guess I'm ok. Also did an hour on the stepper/treadmill, went for walk with husband after dinner, and did my back exercises. I am starting to see evidence in my pants that I am losing. I wore a pair of jeans I don't ever think I've actually been comfortable in tonight. My back is doing --better---amazingly. This is such a pain in the rear-- (this battle)awful really, but it's so totally worth it. One of my problems I am sure with losing weight has always been the fact that I was anorexic/bulimic in highschool, and that was such a scary, bad period of time for me-- I never wanted to repeat it. It is nice having this support...:grouphug:

Good Sat morning everyone. I don't have anything planned for today. I willbe working on a quilt I am making for my inlaws and a scarf for a show where I am working on costumes. It should be pretty quiet. Ds1 is going out for most of the day and ds2 didn't come home this weekend. He will be home next weekend.

Question of the Day
What is your biggest obstacle to staying healthy on the weekend?

For me it is being around my dh. I like to try to eat at the same time as I do during the week. As a school teacher you live by the bell. Even though he is also a teacher he doesn't feel like following a set timetable. If we go out for the day he doesn't think about eating and if I don't eat at a regular interval I get pretty grrumpy. He also doesn't watch what he eats. Even though he could stand to lose some weight he will think nothing about getting chips and or ice cream. I don't buy it so he has to go out and get those things on his own.

Congrats to all the losers this week and good luck for next weigh in for those who stayed the same or gained.

I will check in later. HAve a great day
