As for healthy choices, I found lots at Disney. I especially tried to eat healthy at breakfast and generally just had a banana. By the end of the week, if I'm being honest, I was having a banana and a chocolate croissant for breakfast so I then had to choose fruit or something else healthy for lunch. The salads at the counter service places were pretty good. Finally, if you don't like something, spit it out. Don't eat something at WDW that isn't incredible. There are just too many delish things there to waste even one mouthful on something you aren't crazy about.
Great advice in your post!
I also am trying to be healthy!! I found by looking ahead on the menus online (such as AllEars.net) I was able to plan ahead. I think this will be my saving grace in the end. I could find choices that fit closely to the plan. Obviously watching portions as I dine will play largely into it. I'm on the dining plan, so that too, will alot only so much "eating" for me. Not that I'm too worried, being too busy to eat! LOL.
Also, when I saw the opportunity to ask for healthier options - such as Ohana breakfast that we'll be attending - I was able to substitute turkey sausage for the pork (probably only a few calorie savings, but it's something) and asked for the sugar free waffles. I've heard good things from people who've tried it, so it's worth a shot, right? We'll be walking and swimming, so we'll get lots of "activity points"... And as for the snacks and such... I do plan to try a Dole Whip at some point and most likely splurge on a funnel cake. And just because there are desserts offered on those Dining Plans does not mean we have to take the fatty options. A lot of places (again by looking ahead on the menus all over the internet) you can find many places offer sugar-free options or stuff for people trying to stay healthy. It'll help a little at least if you need that dessert for sure. That's just what I'll be doing. Don't want to totally NOT eat right just because of vacation, but I'll also not skimp on the couple things I'm looking forward to.
-- anyway ... sitting here in my SKINNY JEANS & already worrying about eating at WDW when I have Thanksgiving and Christmas to get thru -
!
You may shed a tear when you hit goal. I did when I did my first 10%...I'm on round 2. I took the summer off
and just rejoined. I have 6 1/2 more months to go and I get gitty
almost every day.
opcorn: There are things you can get only there and it's not you;re just sitting there, you'll most likely be very active. So enjoy yourself. At worst you gain a few lbs. Once you're back on plan, you'll most likely lose them lickity split So try not to worry about it.
