Weight Watchers and Disney

Does anyone know if the restaurants charge for an extra plate if you are splitting an adult entre'? Also, if you ask a cast member about nutritional information...do they supply that or will they look at me like I'm nuts?

This is probably not the "best" advice....but when I was there in September I put my Weight Watchers diet on hold. I just picked it back up when I got home. I did SOOOO MUCH walking that I didn't gain weight! Good luck! :thumbsup2 :woohoo:

I was on WW one of the times I went to WDW and I did the same. There is so much walking that I didn't gain weight either....In fact, I lost a few pounds that week even though eating all of my "have to haves"

I recently lost 18 pounds and was very nervous to go to WDW in Sept. with free dining. We ate only 2 meals a day on our trip plus a snack. We would eat our large meal midday so we did not go to bed with a full stomach. I also drank a lot of water so I was always pretty full before I even began eating. I ate what I wanted but never allowed myself to over eat and because It makes me very sick, I avoided deep fried foods and buttery sauces. I also would not eat something I didn't love and never felt guilty about leaving it. I gained 1 pound and I lost it again in less then 2 weeks. If you are determined to stay on plan that's wonderful but don't feel guilty if you don't.

I don't know about the restaurants in the parks, but Rainforest Cafe does not charge to split entrees. Honestly, I can't imagine eating there and NOT sharing the entree, the portions are ridiculous! The waitress never batted an eye when I told her DD and I would be sharing.

I would be surprised if you could get nutritional info from a cast member. Look at all the chain restaurants that don't provide their NI.

Most of the WDW restaurants do not charge a "sharing fee" for splitting meals. You can inquire when you check in. If they do they try having an appetizer and a salad or an appetizer and a green veggie (steamed if possible).:thumbsup2

I lost 89 lbs on ww . Remember to drink lots and lots of water!!
Don't eat a desert unless you would give it 10 out of 10.
Start the day with a healthy breakfast. I bring oatmeal with me and cook in the microwave at the food court. Good luck and try to stay on track, but you are on a dream vacation to!!! You can do it!!

I am still loving this thread! :thumbsup2 What great advice everyone is giving.

I'll be at WDW in 29 days, and I CAN do this!! I'll have my laptop with me, so I can always come to this thread if I need a bit of encouragement to get me through the day. :)

I try to eat a late big lunch if I'm going to splurge a little and then a salad for dinner. I try not to eat after 7pm just like I do on WW at home and to still drink lots of water! :)

I'm so happy that I got this started. I've gained a lot of great information. I hope some of my ideas helped someone out there too. Here is another question for the gallery....Can I pack a box of oatmeal or popcorn in my suitcase, or does the airlines have a bird about packing food? Or should I send a carepackage prior to my trip?

My best advice to anyone on WW or any other diet is to enjoy yourself on your vacation, but don't eat too many things you're not used to eating anymore. I am on WW as well and whenever I splurge a little on junky foods I'm not used to eating anymore, my body feels terrible and you don't want that on a vacation! :)

I'm playing with my profile and such....so if you get anything wacky showing, I'm sorry.

That is SO true for me too! Lately, I've been in a rush, so I've grabbed more on-the-go type meals, and I've felt that feeling you're talking about. I'm not eating more points than I should, just not as many fruits and veggies, which apparently, my body has grown quite accustomed to.

Too much salt, too much sugar or too many rich & creamy foods will make me feel really yucky in a hurry if I over do it. Great advice, DaniandRyan!! :thumbsup2

BTW, I'm getting very excited -- only 16 more days 'til I'm doing WW at WDW! ;)

I have lost 17 pounds over the last 8 weeks and we leave on Monday. My leader had some great suggestions.

1. Since my son is only 2 and is not on the dineing plan I can split all my meals with him. This of course cuts down on the calories at CS meals. I have the wierd kid that will eat salads so I am all good on that front too.

2. Book mostly buffet style TS meals so I can go heavy on the veggies and healthy proteins. Not a problem since we only booked one TS that is not a buffet so that worked out well.

3. Get up and get my walk in before we start the day. I found a 2 mile walking path between WL and FW so I plan to do that first thing while everyone else is sleeping.

4. Allow myself some little treat everyday. Dole whips are actually low in points and since I am sharing with the little guy I can split one for about 2 points per half serving. We tried to figure out all my desserts and they are about 6-7 points each.

I was really freaking out about this but she helped me figure out some sensible and fun solutions to my trip. I hope some of this info helped someone else out.

Congratulations on the 17-lb loss!!:cool1: And :thanks: for the great suggestions!:thumbsup2

Just curious: How did you and your leader "figure" your points for the desserts?

My flying experiences are limited to Delta, Continental and American, but apparently none of them had problems with packing snacks/nonperishable food items. I didn’t specifically ask if it was okay, but all the foods I packed made it through without incident. I say go for it! :)

I put my WW diet on hold last year when I went to WDW. I was on the Dining Plan and ate A LOT of food. So much food. :sad2: I toured the park from opening to closing w/o breaks and even with eating that much food I only gained 3lbs - which I had off a week after returning home and returning to my WW diet.

If you walk a lot and aren't one of the families that takes afternoon naps/breaks - don't stress so much about it. If you do take it slower and easier while touring the parks, stress a little but let yourself have a little enjoyment -after all, you're on vacation!

One of the things I do with WW at Disney is I don't really eat much there that I wouldn't eat at home. I will allow myself a dessert but what I mean is I don't eat french fries here, so I don't eat them there. I don't eat big messy hamburgers here, so I don't eat them there. I don't eat fried foods here, so I don't eat them there. At home I tend to choose chicken, salads and small cuts of lean meat, I try to eat the same thing there.

This is EXACTLY what I plan to do in . . . . OMG:scared1: . . . 13 DAYS!!! :woohoo:

First ADR for the week (yes, I'm on the dining plan) is LTT during MVMCP! :santa: I'll have lots of salad, turkey, seasonal veggies, and maybe a tiny spoonful of mashed potatoes, but no stuffing for me (I don't really care for their stuffing). No dessert....unless they have fruit. Besides, I'll have to have at least one cookie and a cup of cocoa that night.

Prior to MVMCP, I'll just have my regular cereal/skim milk breakfast and a light lunch at CSR. No stress involved -- I'll be eating on program and feeling MUCH better for it.:thumbsup2

I'm glad this thread is still going on. I hope those who have just been to WDW and were sharing hints earlier chime in ... were you able to keep to a healthy diet???

I am really worried about those CS meals! I've looked and not a lot of lo-cal (low points) foods going on there. I love salads but not with meat in them :sad2: !

Does anyone know if there is an Applebee Restaurant somewhere close to WDW??? I've been having luck with them when I want to SPLURGE. We are spending two days at Universal (still staying at WDW but just going there two days) and plan to stop for dinner on the way back to the Poly ...

Right now ... with my birthday in late October and my Anniversary in mid- November ... I keep gaining and losing the same three pounds - - but I am still down about 22 lbs ... so no complaints but I DO have more to go!!! ARG --------

Has anyone been to Pepper Market and if so, do they offer egg white omelets or egg beaters? I would love to start off with a protein breakfast at least a few days during our trip next week but don't want to load up otherwise hefore I even get out of the resort.
