Weekend trip report...

Thanks for sharing on your trip and all the pics!

If that were me, I would not have been so nice. I probably would have marched over to their ten prior to the music and requested them to move from your "personal space". If it was directly behind your site then that most certainly is to close for comfort.

I would have also called Disney to inform them of their set up. Then probably moved it if they didn't! Then probably done something best left out had they kept it there and played music. THE NERVE! This has me all hot and bothered just thinking about it.

My complain list record is probably a mile long and my Disney folder 3 inches thick.

I'm with you! I was fired up...I talked to a nice CM at the check in desk then I asked to talk to a manager. He came out and I told him the story, and showed him the pictures I had taken. We went about our day and when we got back to the site that evening the tent was still there...I was so mad and disappointed in the management. When they said "we will take care of this right away" my mistake was to trust that. When the neighbors were setting up they had mentioned they were going to Halloween Horror Nights one night, we went to bed Saturday night around 10ish and it was nice and quiet, but the radio was on when I woke up around 3am...ugh! I was fuming (and needless to say very tired) when we packed up Sunday morning. I told my son to go play along the pet walk and make sure to be extra loud while they slept:smooth:

I also had to holler at a man who was letting his son who was about 9 drive a Fort golf cart around the loop...he was stopping and going and running off the road while the dad just laughed...crazy! There was a cast member cleaning the site across from us and she just looked at them and waved!

This is Disney's "Make their vacation the best one they have ever had" policy. They don't want to "step on" someone's vacation by them getting in trouble for something.

The problem is, they "step on" our vacations by letting these idiots do whatever they want. This is why I have come to the policy of taking care of it myself from now on. When they say something to me, I'll just remind them about how I tried to get them to handle it and they FAILED. If I pay $110 a night, I'm not going to be listening to your radio at 3am. Instead, I think some Mission Impossible music in the background, maybe a chicken snake, some honey to attract the ants, maybe set my bugzapper up over your tent, a waterhose accidently left on under your tent...

Stacey,

I emailed WDW about possible changes to the modification or cancellation policy for room-only reservations (currently no penalty up till 5 days before arrival). The reply was that was still the policy and there were no changes AT THIS TIME (emphasis mine).

Now, I'm not one for conspiracy theories, grassy knolls, black helicopters, or alien communications... but...

You probably were tipped off that a change is coming. The short weekend stays with AP usage means locals who don't buy lots of overpriced souvenirs nor buy lots of meals at theme park prices. Whether at FW or a resort hotel, the weekend only reservations block out folks who can get the weekdays on their reservation and are looking to include weekends. They probably have data that says longer stay folks tend to buy the souvenir and meals, blah blah.

Coupled with the AP changes and DVC blackouts, that's what this says to me. Maybe reservations shorter than 3 nights might be treated differently than longer reservations. But like the changes forced on the outside trailer and golf cart rental vendors, Disney is turning the screws all in the name of corporate profit. So the weekend premium, vendors surcharge, AP changes, soon ticket prices based on crowds (I might want to buy mine now...), I'd say change is coming.

Dang, those are some good ideas! I especially like the water hose one, that would have been awesome!

Ed -

You hit the nail on the head, I completely agree. And It would probably be wise to get those tickets now, I sure wish I could have renewed my AP before the new prices came out last month.

I have always wondered when reading about book more and drop the extra days. So, CURRENTLY, the there could be open sites on nights d, e, and f, but if you request those nights, you can't get them? Further, if you call back and ask for a,B,c,d,e,f,g,h...then those days are available? Does this mean that they only set aside certain numbers of sites for shorter stays?

I'm not sure there is an explanation for the idiosyncrasies of the WDW reservation system. I have played with the web site putting in various days and patterns and have had the same search show 3 different answers within 15 minutes.

Jimmy,

Years ago the reservation system acted like it was programmed to discourage shorter reservations. Say you wanted a 2-night weekend reservation. When you checked either online or via phone, the answer was "no availability". Then when you checked a 5-night period that included the original 2-day request, you got availability. So we all would book the 5-night reservation, and then following the rules, drop the extra 3 days more than 5 days before arrival. We believe(d) it was to discourage shorter stays and encourage longer (more expensive) stays.

Personally I've seen less of that nowadays but I am seeing more of what Teamubr said. People will post here about not being able to get dates and I'll get three different responses for the same dates many months out in less than 5 minutes in three different attempts (like Teamubr does).

Hence the advice, "keep trying". It's like asking the same question over and over to folks until you get the answer you like.

I figure as long as I get a confirmation number and they take my deposit, it's legit.

PS - again, I'm not a conspiracy kind a guy, but I do know for a FACT that Disney tries to monitor my brain waves so I've taken to wearing my tin foil hat when reading and replying on the DIS.

PPS - and staying on topic, Stacey, you might want to book a few more weekends out in the future while you still can...

Ed, I wear a helmet made out of fruitcake. Not that garbage Wal Mart sells, I mean the genuine stuff. I figure nothing can penetrate that stuff. You can also use it in self defense if needed, although I think it's illegal to force someone to eat it.

I did notice on my online survey from Disney that at one point they inquired about how I heard about some of the activities at Disney and they listed "disboard" as one of the examples.

Always watching...
