I am getting married January 1, 2011 and I need to order invitations. Any suggestions on where to look? I would like something that is reasonable, yet nice! Ideally, i would like them embossed or to have "raised" ink instead of regular inkjet - which I could do myself.

Any thoughts would be appreciated!

We used this company:

I have family in the greeting card business, and my brother had asked some of his customers for recommendations. I had wanted something simple yet classic, similar to what my parents had in 1968, and I was very pleased with the end product. I don't remember exactly how much it was; plus it ended up being a wedding present from my brother, but I want to say it was around $500 for 125 invitations and personalized thank you notes with the return addressed envelopes etc.

I was going to suggest you do your own, I did 100 invites for something like $75 and they turned out great (most people thought they were profesional!), but if you want them imbossed then I don't think you can go that route.

We got ours from rexcraft.com and I was very pleased. 2nd most complimented item from our wedding.

I would suggest you try Etsy.com. There are MANY professional papercrafters there who do amazing work. You can use the Alchemy feature to list what you want and what you would like to pay for it, and let sellers bid and send samples your way.

I made my own because the look that I wanted was $10/invite and since we needed 200 invitations...:scared1:

Everyone LOVED the way they came out. I received so many compliments from my guests because they were shocked that they were homemade. I didn't get embossed printing, but you can easily do that by going through a printing company.

Party City is a great place to find some beautiful ones, they have the books like the stationary stores have, but you get a nice discount.

These are beautiful! What template did you use or did you design yourself?

I just used www.123print.com. They were fabulous, and got us our invitations fairly quickly. Our invites were extemely simple to keep the costs down, but they had several options in varying ranges of prices.

Good luck!

Glad I found this thread - my daughter is getting married next year and the information you folks have shared will be very useful.

I designed everything myself. It took a lot of trial and error in the beginning, but it was worth all of the work that I did.

I ended up designed all of our paper products (rehearsal dinner invites, programs, placecards, digital picture site cards, welcome box brochure, table names, shower thank you cards, monogram, save-the-date postacards).

I wrote all about it in my blog, just search for invitations or look in the 2008 archive.
